The Digital World had been having a great deal of earthquakes the last six months. The first was the largest of them and had ended in the shifting of the planes. Since then earthquakes happened periodically, often sending new Chosen Children with it. At first it was Chosen that the Digital World knew and rejoiced, but now and then it would send new Chosen.

Today was different, however. The earthquake that rattled the Digital World felt almost as bad as the first, but there was a difference this time. Suddenly dozens of children were making their way to the Digital World. Destiny was calling and so were their partners...

Every chute in the Terminal Room activated while the small Digimon known as Culumon trembled with excitement. There were so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners had arrived!

The chocolate was very strange on his tongue, but being a Control Spire Digimon, he had never eaten anything before in the first place. The taste was...odd, yet not entirely unpleasant. He chewed it slowly and swallowed, uncertain what to make of it.

Beastboy's grin was broader with each passing second.

"That's nothing! There's all kinds of different ways you can mix chocolate with other stuff! Peanut butter, caramel, berries, tofu-"

Psychemon cut him off at this point to go "Ew." Which elicited a look of shock from the little green one.

"DUDE! Tofu is great! You just haven't had it how I make it. Don't worry though I'll fix it."

"Tofu?"

BlackWargreymon had never heard of it. He didn't know why Psychemon would be adverse to it either.

"Dude! Tofu is the BEST!" Beastboy cheered. "It goes great with everything. And it's harm free. Since I've been most of the animals people eat I feel weird about eating meat ya know?"

Psychemon was unconvinced. "Tofu tastes bland to me."

BlackWargreymon found himself having some difficulty following the conversation. This kept him quiet for the moment, observing the two with interest.

"Ya gotta at least let me TRY and cook a vegetarian meal for you." Beastboy insisted and finally Psychemon agreed...though begrudgingly.

"Sweet! In fact, I'll make enough for everyone so you can try it too big guy!" He declared to BlackWargreymon.

Beastboy's offer didn't help BlackWargreymon much. He still wasn't certain how he should be answering such an invitation. He blinked, trying to fathom a reply.

"I would be...grateful." Or so he hoped.

[changelingdude]

"This is gonna be great!" He cheered and even gave a jump in the air. "New friends, new adventures...I mean yeah I'm gonna miss the Titans but DUDE I'm gonna have some stories to tell." He babbled excitedly, also perhaps betraying some sense of denial.

If any such denial was portrayed, it was beyond BlackWargreymon.

"Who are the...Titans?"

[changelingdude]

"Oh sorry dude!" He snapped back into the moment, "The Titans were my friends back home. They were like family really." He explained producing a piece of paper and rapidly scribbling down some drawings of dubious quality.

"We're a super hero team. The Teen Titans fight evil and protect the innocent!" He declared proudly.

The Digimon took a moment to consider all of this.

"For what reason do you fight evil?"

That took Beastboy by surprise and he thought about it for a moment.

"I just...hate seeing people sad." He explained blushing, feeling a little sheepish. "I want people to be happy. And I got these powers through luck and people who loved me. So I figured it would be the right thing to do. I met a bunch of other people who wanted to save the world, then over time I actually got pretty good at it."

That left BlackWarGreymon a little stunned. He didn't realize that there could be so much so this.

"Then...you were not apt at saving the world when you first began?"

[changelingdude]

He burst out laughing at the thought.

"O-oh dude...oh no way. I was just a little kid. I had the heart sure, but I didn't have the training, or the will. You gotta work up to that stuff."

"And when I was younger I couldn't turn into bigger animals. That took practice and work in the field. But if you want it bad enough then anything's possible."

"I...see."

The Digimon tilted his head and folded his arms, not sure just what to do with this information. At the least, it did improve his spirits, if only a small amount.

Aw come on! Big guy like you? No need to worry. OH! Do you still have powers? I don't have mine anymore but you're a digimon right? How much can you do with that?

[whatisthislife]

"I am...not certain. I have had no chance to test this body, and it would be unsafe to do so here."

[changelingdude]

He laughed uncertain. "Eh heh, bit of a powerhouse huh? What sort of powers did you used to have?"

From the look on Psychemon's respectfully nervous face she knew exactly what he should be capable of.

Taking a moment to concentrate, BlackWargreymon produced between his gauntlets a sphere of red energy, about the size of a soccer ball. Even from where Beastboy was standing, the power radiating from just that was immense. The Digimon pitched the orb into the sky, where the resulting explosion still shook the ground - and was nearly as big as BlackWargreymon himself.

"That...is but a tiny fraction."

His eyes wide, the force of the strike blowing back his hair and leaving his jaw hanging open.

"Holy cow!"

"Just like they said..." Psychemon mumbled in awe.

"Yeah...yeah I could see why you'd need to go somewhere open to practice..."

"You have heard stories of me, Psychemon?" BlackWargreymon looks down at her, intrigued. He was less interested in Beastboy's reaction.

"O-oh um..." She fidgeted being put on the spot suddenly.

"We'll not you specifically..." She explained "But when I was taught about evolution the told us about the power of Mega level digimon. While they mentioned Wargreymon they weren't talking about you I'm sure..."

But apparently the descriptions alone were enough to leave her quaking.

BlackWargreymon wasn't certain whether to be upset, or relieved. Stories of his sacrifice might aid him in learning to interact with others, but stories of his power would have little to do with that - and would do nothing but inspire even more terror than the mere level of his evolution...false though it may be.

"Yes, it is not likely they spoke of me. The last time I battled Wargreymon, we were evenly matched, in most ways." He suspected that he came out of that battle without reverting to a lower level evolution simply because he did not have one to speak of.

[changelingdude]

"Well, I'm glad you're on our side dude!" The little green one grinned that toothy grin.

"Why um..,why were you fighting?" Psychemon inquired cautiously.

"While normal Digimon are birthed from Digi-eggs, I was created from Control Spires that were made to hold one of the Guardian Digimon at bay. However, that was not revealed to me for a long time. My anguish was so great that nothing could satisfy it, no matter how hard I fought. I tore apart the very fabric of the Digital World in my searching. Eventually, I came to the Real World, and lashed out at my creator. Wargrymon, the partner of the Chosen Child Taichi Yagami, tried to stop me."

Recounting his past mistakes was difficult, and BlackWargreymon struggled to do so without reliving all those powerful emotions. Even though he managed to keep his head clear, he let it fall along with his shoulders, his guilt over the events plain as day.
