The Digital World had been having a great deal of earthquakes the last six months. The first was the largest of them and had ended in the shifting of the planes. Since then earthquakes happened periodically, often sending new Chosen Children with it. At first it was Chosen that the Digital World knew and rejoiced, but now and then it would send new Chosen.

Today was different, however. The earthquake that rattled the Digital World felt almost as bad as the first, but there was a difference this time. Suddenly dozens of children were making their way to the Digital World. Destiny was calling and so were their partners...

Every chute in the Terminal Room activated while the small Digimon known as Culumon trembled with excitement. There were so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners had arrived!

Hiccup and his partner Gomamon had been talking to each other on the bench Hiccup found to sit on when Gomamon stood up in Hiccup's lap, putting one of his fins on the boy's chest for a moment to get him to stop talking. "Hold up a sec Hic, do you see that kid??"

He points with a claw towards Jack and Hawkmon, just as the two are shaking hands/wings. Hiccup blinks a few times, not really seeing anything...out of the ordinary with him, save perhaps for his blindingly white hair, coupled with a blue hoodie that seemed to be coated with a thin layer of frost. Plus, he wasn't wearing shoes.

"What am I....looking for, exactly?"

"He looks so...so weird, don'tcha think?" The little digimon snickers, suddenly turning so he can jump up onto Hiccup's shoulder. "Come on, up, up! Let's go talk to 'em!"

Hiccup grimaces and stands up quickly as Gomamon situates himself on the boy's shoulders, wrapping his front fins around Hiccup's neck. With a heavy sigh though he consents, approaching as he hisses to Gomamon out of the corner of his mouth, "Fine...but you better not make fun of him."

"Whaaat, we're partners now! Don'tcha trust me Hic?"

"...No. No, not at all."

Jack tilts his head as he sees someone approaching. A boy, dressed like he's from a few hundred years ago...with a small monster on his back. But more...it looks like they're walking toward...him. Does that mean...?

"Hawkmon...are they walking towards us?" he asked his partner, who eyes him curiously.

"Yeah, it does. Is something wrong with that?"

"No...it means..." Jack's voice trails off as he goes to meet the other pair.

Hawkmon stares after him, about to say something, but not sure what. He doesn't like not knowing what's wrong with his partner.

As Jack steps forward, he can't help but shake with nervousness. He grips his staff, leaning forward on it and masking his anxiety with a winning smile.

"Hey! Are you another Chosen?"

When Jack approaches, Hiccup quickly adopts what he hopes is an amiable smile, a bit nervous since Gomamon hasn't proven yet that he can be very...polite.

"Sure am." Not only does Hiccup speak to Jack, but he also makes direct eye contact with the spirit. There's absolutely no doubt that he can really see him. "Though I don't know how thrilled I am to be here, exactly.."

Jack stops dead in his tracks, and the next second stretches into an eon.

Three hundred years...he'd never gotten to talk to someone his own age. Or even close. He'd call, and shout, and yell...and they'd just walk right through him. But now he's standing here, right in front of a guy who couldn't be that much younger than he is. They're making eye contact...

He heard me. He sees me.

The thought plays through Jack's head over and over again, what could've been thousands of times, all just in the course of that one second.

But the boy and his Digimon wouldn't know - not unless they look close, and see tears brimming Jack's eyes as that smile doesn't waver even for a moment.

"Give it a while, it'll probably grow on you," Jack says, holding out a hand. "The name's Jack Frost."

Hiccup returns the gesture with his small smile still unwavering. He's completely unaware of the impact that his noticing Jack has on him- ...as well as he's unaware of the impact the simple handshake probably has, as well. "Nice to meet you, Jack."

Though after a pause Hiccup tilts his head slightly, as if to get a better look at Jack. "....I don't know why but....you....you seem really familiar, somehow."

Jack can't help but suck in a breath as he feels the hand touch his. It's almost like the last three hundred years have all just been sucked away, in that single instant. His smile grows a bit wider, and he hopes that the guy doesn't notice the sudden reaction.

"Guess I just have one of those faces." He didn't have his powers here, so why go around telling everyone who he was? That wasn't the important part of his job anyway.

But as Jack and Hiccup shake hands, Hawkmon flutters up to fly near Jack's shoulder - an easy vantage point to keep watch over his partner. And since he's more intent on his partner, he notices what the other Chosen and his Digimon don't. He doesn't say anything, but he can see Jack's eyes...and the tears that are just barely held back.

"Yeah....that must be it." Of course, Jack Frost is so much more of a familiar figure to Hiccup than he truly realizes. Vikings are notorious for being set in their beliefs, and Jack Frost- or Jokul Frosti as he is known on Berk- is one of those figures they believe in the strongest.

Then again, Hiccup was probably just a child, barely a toddler when he spotted Jack making his way through the trees, covering Berk with a thick blanket of snow. That wasn't even a memory anymore. Just a dream.

Gomamon scoots forwards a bit to get a better look at Jack and Hawkmon, smirking slightly, "Well aren'cha both quite the pair, huh? ...can't say I've ever seen a human with white hair before."

"That so? And how many humans have you seen?" Jack just smirks back, not minding the teasing in the slightest. Hawkmon gives Jack a tilt of his head, certain now that there's much more to this young man than he's telling.

"Um. .....Touche." Gomamon snickers and waves a claw at Jack. Well normally he would have gotten an angry remark, but that was new. ..He liked it. "I like you kid."

That gets a chuckle out of Jack, though Hawkmon isn't sure what to make of it.

"Didn't get your names," Jack says, still grinning.

"Oh, right! M-"

"My name's Gomamon, and this here is my partner Hiccup!"

Gomamon shamelessly cuts Hiccup off, leaning over his shoulder so he can extend his claws to Jack for a handshake.

Jack just laughs a little, and shakes Gomamon's claw.

"Seems like you found yourself quite a handful." He doesn't make it particularly obvious whether he's talking to the Digimon or his partner.

It's not too obvious, because both Hiccup and Gomamon nod in unison.

After that though, things seem to loosen up somewhat. Hiccup rubs the back of his neck, glancing over his shoulder before looking back at Jack.

"So...I guess it's safe to say you just got here too, huh?"

Jack nods, and that grin just grows bigger. "I met Hawkmon right before I saw you guys."

Hawkmon nods right along with his partner, though he sees Jack's eyes are brimmed with tears again. He gives the boy a concerned look.

"Everything okay up there, Hawkmon?" Jack asks the bird, poking him in the belly.

Hawkmon giggles a bit, and loses some altitude as he tries to flap away from his poking partner. "Yeah Jack, everything's fine!" He gives a big smile at Jack, then at Hiccup and Gomamon.

Luckily, Gomamon and Hiccup still don't notice. If they did they'd probably stay silent, but as far as Gomamon is concerned...well, it's debatable.

"Yeah, I figured." Hiccup sighs, leaning back on his heel a bit. "...Looks like we're stuck here."

"That's what the letter said. I dunno, I think it could be worse," Jack answers.

Hawkmon couldn't be sure, but he thinks he can read the gentle fall of Jack's shoulders, and the slight play at the corners of his mouth. It could be a lot worse, couldn't it, Jack? I hope someday you'll tell me why...

"At least it's not raining," Jack adds a moment later.

"Or hailing," Hawkmon adds with a giggle. That earns him a quirk of Jack's eyebrow, which gets Hawkmon to grin kind of guiltily.

Hiccup nods with a roll of his eyes. "Hail and snow I could do without for a while. We were stuck right in the middle of the BIGGEST blizzard we've seen in a while back home before I was brought here."

Gomamon nods, shaking his head, "Yeah, from the way Hic described it he made it sound like it was turnin' the island into nothin' but a gigantic snowball!"

"Giant snowball, huh?" Jack taps his staff against his shoulder, letting it rest there. "Sounds like fun." He pauses, drumming his fingers on the staff. "I was always kind of a winter guy though."

"I don't....well I wouldn't mind it so much if it weren't so...often back home! We have months and months of nonstop snow at a time," Hiccup explains, looking down with a sigh.

Hawkmon's beak drops open.

"Now there's a place I'd love to live." Jack chuckles.

"Really, Jack?" Hawkmon asks. "You don't mind the cold?"

"Are you...sure?" Hiccup looks pretty surprised by that. "The weather on Berk is downright nasty."

"You could say the wind's a good friend of mine." Jack twirls his staff, fast enough to produce a tiny breeze.

"Mm...Well, I'd like to see you sing that tune on Berk." Hiccup sighs, but smiles anyway. "Then again, it....does have a sort of charm I guess."

"Everywhere does, if you look in the right places." Jack had been pretty much all over the world, even places there should've never been snow. He'd found something to love about all of them, even if it was something small.

"What's Berk like?"

"Well uh..." Hiccup looks up thoughtfully, tapping his fingers against his forearm.

"It's an island smack dab in the middle of scenic nowhere, snows nine months out of the year and hails the other three, aand....we have dragons." He says that matter of factly. "Lots and lots of dragons."
