What: An open mingle log for everyone to play in!

The Digital World had been having a great deal of earthquakes the last six months. The first was the largest of them and had ended in the shifting of the planes. Since then earthquakes happened periodically, often sending new Chosen Children with it. At first it was Chosen that the Digital World knew and rejoiced, but now and then it would send new Chosen.

Today was different, however. The earthquake that rattled the Digital World felt almost as bad as the first, but there was a difference this time. Suddenly dozens of children were making their way to the Digital World. Destiny was calling and so were their partners...

Every chute in the Terminal Room activated while the small Digimon known as Culumon trembled with excitement. There were so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners had arrived!

There's a pause, in which Gomamon suddenly makes a strange noise, as if he's trying desperately not to burst out laughing. Hiccup can feel him shaking with the effort, so he quickly speaks up before Gomamon can embarrass him.

"It's nice to meet you! ...Mind if I just call you Once-ler?"

He's used to different sounding names, at least.

Once-ler doesn't seem to catch on to the reason behind Gomamon's sniggering, to judge by the curiously quirked eyebrow. After a moment he makes a slight dismissive motion, nodding to Hiccup.

"Yes, that's fine."

"PFFFFFFFTAHAHAAAA!" Hiccup nearly jumps a mile when Gomamon explodes over his shoulder, going limp and flopping his flippers onto both of Hiccup's shoulders. "Once-ler? He's got an even weirder name tha YOU do Hiccup! An' that's really saying somethin'!"

...So much for trying to make friends.

Once-ler's shoulders bunch up as his expression hardens, and Kudamon gives the seal an intense stare. Better do something quick, Hiccup. Once's got quite a reach.

Hiccup can see that this conversation is turning sour quickly. In a panic, and unsure what ELSE to do, Hiccup suddenly jerks Gomamon right off his shoulders, and stuffs him down the front of his tunic. The shock ALONE is enough to silence the Digimon, causing him to go rigid.

Then Hiccup looks up at Once-ler, unable to say anything for a moment with his shirt and vest distended and full of Gomamon.

"I....I'm....so sorry."

Once-ler folds his arms and looks off sharply to one side, without a word. After an awkward pause, Kudamon snakes forward a little.

"It is alright, do not worry about it."

Well, Hiccup will worry about it, because he's really not looking to make enemies here. Before he can say anything else though Gomamon pokes his head back out of his shirt, looking quite dazed.

"...Ok, if you EVER do that to me again, you're gonna be sorry, Hiccup. Real...Real sorry!"

And yet, Gomamon doesn't...make much of an effort to pull himself out of Hiccup's shirt either. Actually he appears pretty content to just sit there how he is for the moment, his claws poking out the top, leaving Hiccup quite uncomfortable.

Once-ler sighs shortly through his nose, then turns his head back to Hiccup with an annoyed roll of his shoulders leading the motion.

"You oughta put a leash or a muzzle on that thing. Honestly, he's more annoying than--"

Then he abruptly pulls himself up short, and for a split second his eyes flick up, as if looking at something- or someone -far away. Once-ler shakes it off, literally, after a moment and settles for glaring at Gomamon again. "Nevermind. But my point is made."

Hiccup frowns, putting a hand on Gomamon's head out of reflex. Not trying to defend him at all- because what he did WAS rude- but for some reason he can't help but feel protective over the little Digimon, as awful and annoying as he is. "I...I know, I'm sorry. He didn't mean it really."

Gomamon glances up at Hiccup to retort, but for the first time remains silent for now, catching the expression of concern the boy has adopted. "I don't want any trouble. I'm just....trying to figure out what to do here, you know?"

The boy sighs heavily, running his fingers through Gomamon's orange fur on the top of his head.

After a few moments Once-ler relents, sighing and dropping his arms. "Look, it's- it's fine. But he might get it being so mouthy in the future."

"..Yeah. Don't worry, it won't happen again." Hiccup glares down at Gomamon even though he can't see, and after a pause pulls him out of his shirt, placing him back where he was over his shoulder.

"...Guess we sortof got off on the wrong foot. I-" But suddenly Gomamon pipes up, sneering at Hiccup, "Yeah. Considerin' you only got one foot to get off on."

Hiccup isn't sure if that quip was to get back at him for scolding him for making fun of Once-ler's name, but it's enough to force him to clench his fists so he doesn't snatch the Digimon back up and just drop him on the ground.

Once-ler glanced down when Gomamon mentioned that; he couldn't help but to do so, really. A little lean back to better take in the sight of the prosthetic, and then he looked back at Hiccup.

"Okay, so. What in the world happened?" Then a little moment of fear, pushing him forward. "Did that happen here?"

The viking blinks and looks down at his foot, lifting his leg a bit so Once-ler can see the prosthetic a bit better. "Oh uh...don't worry, this didn't happen here. ..Happened back home. ...I uh...lost it to a dragon."

..yeah, it's a very, very long story.

"You'd think I'd get used to it after a while but," Hiccup chuckles weakly, letting his foot touch back down with a metallic click, "yeah...that's easier said than done."
