Pasta Dinner Night -- Open to All

When: April 7, 2013, 6pm onwards
Where: The communal kitchen
What: Shepard hosts a communal dinner to make sure all the kids are okay, but adults and digimon are welcome as well!

[There's a good chance Shepard is going to regret emptying her wallet later, but for now, she's armed with a massive quantity of uncooked pasta and a bunch of jars of red sauce, along with butter and salt just in case of picky eaters. She'd normally just make the same thing for everyone, but she's dealing with what could be very young, very frightened children, so it's best to err on the side of caution.]

[She settles into the kitchen at 6, and after banishing Monodramon to their apartment (he's still in trouble for the incident with Gomamon), sets about to cooking.]

[If you show up early, you'll find her manning a large number of cooking pots full of heating sauce and boiling water. If you're on time, you'll find Shepard handing out plates of pasta and offering a choice between sauce or no sauce, then herding you to a table filled with anyone who got here before you. Why not get to mingling? There's enough food and company to go around, tonight.]

[Shinji doesn't want to be here, and that's plain from the look on his face. All these people at once - he's much more comfortable back in his room, where all he has to endure is Kokuwamon's endless talking about nothing. Talking to people over the D-Terminal is a much more comfortable experience than doing it face to face.

But once his partner saw the note in the hall about the dinner, he was doomed to attend. The robot beetle had already been bugging him about taking better care of himself and make friends, so either it was going to guilt him into going or drag him there itself.

The former hadn't worked, so that's why young mister Ikari is being dragged into the kitchen by his partner, grimacing while Kokuwamon chatters away.]

-this will be good for you! You haven't gotten any sun since you arrived, you know. Always staying in bed, checking the D-Terminal-

What's wrong with that? [He sighs, looking the room over as if planning an escape route.] It's still socializing, right? Get off my case.

Never!

[The two proceed to argue in front of the doorway, creating a barrier for anyone who actually wants to come in.]

[There are kids standing in the doorway. Kids, that is not where you belong. Get out of there.]

Get in here, guys, you're blocking the door.

[She chuckles, looking fairly amused.]

[Shepard's voice is enough to get him to stop grumbling at his partner. Once her words register, he looks around at where he actually is.]

Oh, sorry.

[He steps forward into the room, which is a victory as far as Kokuwamon is concerned. It folds his arms and nods approvingly.]

I, uh, guess we're here for the dinner. If it's not too much trouble.

[There are way too many people who are worried about troubling her here. She's way too used to marines who will devour anything you put in front of them without even asking what it is.]

Hey, that's what the food's here for.

[lastnerv]

[Shinji forces a small smile through the awkward.]

Thanks, Miss Shepard.

[He never called his actual commander commander so he's not going to start now. Kokuwamon throws its claws into the air and charges off into the room.]

Wait, do you even eat? [He sighs.] I can't keep up with that thing.

[Shepard stares at the robot as it runs in.]

Wait. Yours is synthetic?

[lastnerv]

You mean a robot? [Shinji rubs the back of his head as he watches Kokuwamon flutter around.] As near as I can tell, yeah. Who knows with these things, though.

That is. Incredibly bizarre. I thought they were supposed to be programs brought to life.

[lastnerv]

Maybe it's some kind of robot's program...

Though I guess that doesn't explain the beetle part.

Then what coding it making the biological ones?

[dekochan]

[ It's not a good idea to create a person-sized barrier between a girl's food and a girl who doesn't know how to cook for herself. ]

Hey! Get out of the way!

[lastnerv]

Eh?

[The two look up for their bickering at the same time, and they both step back to let Iori out of the way.]

S-sorry.

We didn't mean to inconvenience you, miss.

[dekochan]

[ Wait one second... ]

Don't I know you already?

[lastnerv]

Uh, yeah. Shinji. We talked over the D-Terminal.

[Kokuwamon looks back and forth between the two humans.]

Wait, you have friends?

[Shinji gives Kokuwamon such a glare.]

We aren't friends! We just talked a little, that's all!
