On adventure with the coolest creatures...
Who: Chris and Martin Kratt
What: Making travel plans. Chris may have a surprise or two in store for Martin along the way
Where: Starting out at the Hospitown cafe
When: Mid-afternoon of the 4th
Chris headed to the cafe for a prearranged meeting with Martin, his two partners trailing far enough behind him that they weren't in the way of a yellow yo-yo he was working. It skimmed through the air and around his fingers with ease, bouncing along the ground every now and then and then getting popped back up into his palm. Nes was certainly enraptured, watching the toy's every motion as it zipped around, and when they reached the cafe and it was caught for the last time he was genuinely sad.
"Aww..." Not to be daunted for long though he perked up, squeezing through the door ahead of his Chosen and racing for the counter. Sylvia, left behind, blinked and glanced up; at the shared look between her and Chris, both chuckled.
"Alright, let's see if he's here already." Pocketing the yo-yo, Chris looked around as he walked further inside the cafe. "Shouldn't be too hard to find him. He's tall, blue-"
"-and there's not many here anyway."
Another soft laugh at the quip and he went back to his search.

He half-expected to hear an immediate greeting from his brother although when none came, he realized with amusement that Chris hadn't seen him right away.
...Naturally, he waited until Chris was walking right past him to give his own greeting.
"Hey Bro!"
no subject
At least until-
"Bwah!" Startled, he bounced back a few steps with a lean backwards, blinking twice. Then he laughed, walking over and taking a seat at the same table.
"Hey bro. Been waitin' long?"
no subject
"Naaaah, not long. H'the food hasn't even come yet. I ordered some sandwiches for everyone."
It was lunchtime after all.
He chuckled, sitting up and then leaning in, folding his arms on the table excitedly in front of him.
"You stoked, dude?"
They hadn't gone on a proper creature adventure in weeks and it was stretching it to count the journey from their former home to Hospitown as one.
no subject
Chris folded his arms atop the table, smiling brightly. Then for just one moment there was a more mischievous gleam- and it was gone, replaced by a
poorly actedwistful sigh."I sure wish we had our creature pods up and working though. It's a shame to not be able to have the old videos with us while we go..."
Sylvia giggles behind her paw underneath the table, then goes back to helping Cody with his art.
no subject
"Yeah-heh...it'd be great if they were! H'all that creature footage would probably come in handy..."
Of course, so would most of the features the creature pods contained. At least with the D-Terminals they could still communicate via video or audio, but the creature pods also had medical scanners, useful creature adventuring tools, and did he mention all of their creature footage?
Then again, he'd have also loved to have their creature power suits working again. Especially since Terra had put the idea in his head of digimon-based creature powers.
There was another small laugh from him.
"H'but we figured we'd better not mess with them right?"
Lest Aviva somehow find out. They would most definitely be the Brothers Formerly Known As Kratt if she found out they'd tampered with her inventions.
no subject
Chris is leaning on both his hands on the table, grinning. Alright, something is definitely up now, and he's not afraid of letting Martin know about that.
"Yeahhh, it's a bummer to not have all the great stuff we stored on them. Unless, y'know, we did."
no subject
"Yeaaaaaahhh..."
He chuckled, and then sat back a little, fixing Chris with an amused look.
"H'okay, brother, what're you hiding?"
It certainly sounded like Chris was up to something, or had some idea up his sleeve, he couldn't quite tell.
no subject
When they were both handed to him he aligned them on the table in front of him. Paused a moment, tweaked the lay of the creature pod. Another moment and then tweaked again- then looked up at an amused throat clearing, and smiled sheepishly before going back to work.
"Here. Donnie showed me how to do this. Check it out." Making connections between them he ran through the procedure of the download, tapping quickly through the assorted menus of the D-Terminal. A hesitant glance and then he sat back with a satisfied sound, gesturing both hands spread down toward the devices.
"There ya go! In a little less than 10 minutes, everything that's on the creature pod will now be on the D-Terminal."
no subject
"Hah, no way!? Oho, man, that's awesome!!!"
He curiously inspected his creature pod and terminal where they sat on the table, almost as if he was expecting to see the transfer happen visually, occasionally sending more grins Chris's way.
"H'remind me to thank Donnie next time we see him."
He'd been genuinely hoping the teen would take them up on his offer to join them on their adventures later on and now even more so. This was fantastic!
He straightened, glancing at Chris with about the widest grin ever as he held an arm up for a high-five.
"Thanks, Bro!!"
no subject
Settling back into place, he glanced over as a Digimon set a platter of sandwiches down on the table and he nodded thanks, while also digging around in his pocket. Removing his own D-Terminal, he handed it over for his brother to take.
"If you wanna check out the results, you can look through mine. It was the guinea pig for the initial transfer."
no subject
"Hah'don't mind if I do."
There was a warm, grateful smile all the same though, before he started fussing with the Terminal. Let's see here: That announcement from that girl with the battle armor; he'd seen that. Assorted text messages from Fluttershy; tempting, but not what he was looking for, saving those for later. Some other recent network posts-...Oooh! BINGO. Creature foootage.
While her Chosen messed with the D-Terminal, Adele reached across for two of the sandwiches, one that seemed to be little more than a large fish placed between two slices of bread...with an olive and toothpick for class. The other appeared to be some horrific mix of egg salad, sliced bananas, peanut butter, and melted cheese.
"H'that one's mine, Adele. Cody's got the peanut butter, jelly, and marmalade."
The Penguinmon cast a quizzical look at Martin, who hadn't looked up from the D-Terminal, before shrugging and taking the decidedly less odd sandwich, hopping down off her chair to deliver it to the Bearmon still coloring avidly under the table.
no subject
"Soooo, which are ours?" A pause and he looked to the side as Nes returned, carrying a platter of sandwiches to rival their table's own. Sliding into his own, he beamed at his partner and dove in. Chuckling weakly, Chris leaned back and then looked aside again. "Ahh, mine and Sylvia's, I guess."
no subject
"Hmmm?"
He glanced up from the screen at the question, then swallowed his mouthful before chuckling a little.
"Oho, I got a salad for Sylvia if she wants. H'there's like 4 different kinds of lettuce in there, and it's chock-full of other veggies."
He fixed his brother with a look, a grin on his face that was a little too wide.
"Aha'and for my bro, h'I got your favorite. Chocolate spread, gooseberry jam...and rainbow sprinkles."
no subject
Chris, meanwhile, was leaning on one hand, a flat look turned his brother's way. "Alright, because it looks like turkey."
no subject
"Aww, no, you're kidding? And I ordered it special..."
He then gave a winning grin, waving his own sandwich conversationally at Chris.
"H'it's turkey. With the works. H'they were out of rainbow sprinkles."
He chuckled a little, only to blink as Adele appeared from under the table, speaking in the kind of tone one might expect of a weary military general.
"Gonna need some napkins down here, Martin."
The blue-clad Kratt gave another laugh before passing over some napkins, as well as some moist towelettes for good measure. Adele paused to slip the fish from her sandwich out, gulping it down in a very penguin-like manner, before disappearing back under the table.
no subject
"Yeah, I thought so." Then his smile brightened conversationally. "Thanks bro."
He chewed thoughtfully on the first bite, glancing toward where the D-Terminal was accepting the data; nearly completed, by this point.
no subject
There was a curious sidelong look at his D-Terminal, as if it would finish downloading faster if he kept looking at it, before he shrugged, swallowing his mouthful.
"So, how'd the terrain look? Think we can follow the river as we go?"
He knew Chris had been making notes of the nearby landscape, and the river close to town had seemed like a good thing to keep near too while they traveled. Steady source of water as well as a solid landmark towards their current base.
no subject
"It looks like it, yeah! The river goes on for a good distance before coming to what looks like a lake." As he spoke he started sifting through the pictures, using them to refresh his memory. "We didn't get near the lake yet but saw it in the distance. There seems to be... something just beyond it too, some wreckage of some kind."
He shrugged, taking a few moments to focus more on eating than talking. "It could be worth checking out, just as a curiosity."
no subject
He grinned excitedly.
"Yeah-heh, we should definitely check it out. Even just to see. Ah'and who knows? Might be a place somebody's been looking for? H'we can relay all the cool areas we come across to the other Chosen."
A recent post had put the thought in his head of them keeping a look out for unique or unusual landmarks as they explored. There could be places other people would recognize from their homeworlds or places they'd always wanted to visit. And even if they weren't, it'd still be neat to share their findings with the other people here.
no subject
He watched Nes for a few moments, who had polished off his sandwiches and was now licking the platter clean. Rolling his eyes with a smile, Chris turned back to the table at hand when a small beeping sounded. Grinning, he brushed his hands to one side and disconnected the creature pod and the D-Terminal, placing the smaller one on top and sliding them over.
"There ya go! All transferred and ready for ya, Martin."
no subject
He grinned widely, only for the beeping sound to catch his attention, his expression shifting gleefully as he gave a whoop of excitement and retrieved his creature pod and Terminal from his brother, pocketing the former and immediately scrolling through the latter.
"Oho, man, I've missed being able to access this footage!"
It'd certainly be nice to be able to reference it again when talking with other Chosen, especially those that weren't familiar with the creatures they were.
"Thanks again, Bro."
no subject
He continued scrolling through his own D-Terminal for a bit more and then closed it, putting it away.
"Speakin' of Digimon, how's that been going lately?"
no subject
...He kinda wanted to re-play some of his favorites later.
Glancing at Chris, he gave a grin.
"Great! Adele's in top form. So long as she keeps her energy intake up, she'll be fine."
He idly brought a hand up to rub the back of his neck in thought, still smiling.
"Nes has really thrown himself into it. He's almost able to go toe-to-toe with Adele even in strength and endurance, and he's catching up in pretty much everything else too."
Actually, he kinda had been meaning to talk with Chris about that, but it was hard to get a chance to since Nes was usually near his Chosen when not with Martin.
"And Cody is...well, he'll be fine."
He chuckled and gave an easy-going grin. Cody was clearly the youngest of the four and Martin couldn't help but be amused that the Bearmon's ability to focus on certain tasks was about as good as a young child's. He gave a confident grin.
"H'I think they're all more than ready for this creature adventure."
no subject
"Great!" Feeling eyes on him he leaned back and looked under the table, finding Sylvia staring up at him with a smile. He returned it, then settled in his chair again. "Sylvia's been a big help, too! She's really gonna come in handy for advance scouting, without having to worry about Adele being a level up all the time."
He sat for a moment in thought, looking down at the remainder of his sandwich. Supplies are gathered, Digimon are training up well, maps are being made... Oh! Inhaling softly as the thought occurred to him, Chris glanced back up. "What d'you think of the idea of taking others with us? At least for some parts of it."
no subject
"Hah'awesome! H'that'll be a little easier on our supplies..."
Considering Digimon needed to eat and store a lot of energy to digivolve, it'd be much easier to keep food supplies with a Rookie level scout than a Champion level one. He blinked at a thought and leaned back in his chair, glancing underneath the table.
"H'no offense, Adele."
"None taken. Just take these."
A flipper handed up a wad of used napkins and towelettes. Martin pulled a face, even if he still looked a little amused, as he took them and placed them far aside on the edge of the table. With a small chuckle, he glanced back at Chris.
"It's funny you mention that. I kinda asked Donnie before he left the other day if he'd want to catch up with us some time while we're all traveling."
Actually, he'd outright offered, but details. It still didn't sit right with him that the teen had left to travel on his own, leaving his partners behind in Hospitown. ...Even if the teen was probably capable of taking care of himself. He gave a curious smile.
"Y'think some others here'd wanna come along?"
Company was always welcome so far as he was concerned.
