What: Hiccup's working on filling out entries for what he's calling "The Digimon Manual"

[Hiccup and Gomamon are spending the day in the park, with today being pleasantly warm and a bit breezy- something quite unusual, compared to Berk's standards. With his legs crossed in front of him Hiccup can be seen sitting with his back to a tree in the grass, idly drawing in a sketchbook that seems to have been seeing a lot of use lately. Gomamon keeps climbing into Hiccup's lap at the most inopportune times, until finally he ended up giving in and using his partner's back as a table. Whatever works, right?]

The Digimon Manual

OOC: As a little token of my appreciation to all of you being generally amazing- as well as an excuse to build CR- I Hiccup is going to be making entries into his notebook of drawings of the various partners of the Chosen here in Terminal Tokyo! All you have to do is walk up to Hiccup and strike up a conversation to get started!

There are some things Hiccup will ask for:

-What species is your partner?
-Do they have any nicknames?
-Do you have a crest yet? (He won't outright ask this one, but include in an OOC message to me if you do have a crest and want it included. To my knowledge nobody HAS been crested yet, however, so for now I'm not going to worry about this.)

And of course a general description of the Digimon itself would suffice, including any unique quirks and accessories the Digimon may have! (Links are helpful, but I can Google the Digimon just as easily) Also, a short description of the Digimon can be added as well. Hiccup cannot write in English, but for the sake of easy identification I'm including the English terms in the entries.

Hiccup will do his best to get as many entries done as he can, but of course everyone starts getting sloppy if they draw for too long. (I apologize if I'm slow, I'll be doing these at my leisure! I will try to get them all done though, if I get any)

On the other hand, Hiccup doesn't mind chatting while working, so feel free to get to know him and Gomamon in the meantime! That's half of what this log is for in the first place!

[Impmon's always a pesky little bother when it comes to other people and their personal space. And really, he needs a distraction from what happened between him and Leatherhead. Telling from how quiet Leatherhead has been, so has the big guy.

Impmon sneaks up behind Hiccup, tapping his shoulder.]

What you doing, writing your poems?

[Hiccup jumps a little at the sudden tap, but thankfully his pencil was pulled away from the paper. Not like he was really drawing anything yet anyway.]

...I don't- ..I don't write poems. I'm drawing.

[Recognizing that voice, Hiccup turns a bit so he can look over his shoulder.]

Impmon, is that you?

Oh greeat...

Where's Leatherhead?

There any other Impmon you know, freckles?

[He winks at Gomamon. Missed you too, you chump. The digimon motions behind him.]

He's over there somewhere.

[Leatherhead stands nervously at a distance, waving.]

[If Gomamon wasn't half-asleep, Impmon, he'd bop you one.

Meanwhile, Hiccup waves a little to Leatherhead, cupping one hand around his mouth so he can call out to him.]

Hey Leatherhead! You can come over here if you want!

[bigsoftie]

[Thank goodness he isn't.

Leatherhead cautiously walks on over, looking over Hiccup's work curiously.]

If you do not mind me asking, what are you doing?

[trainsurdragons]

[With a grin, Hiccup shifts a little before holding the sketchbook up so Leatherhead can see.]

Drawing. ...Or I was, anyway. I've been waiting around to see if any Digimon would pass by, and then Impmon showed up.

[bigsoftie]

[Did you say a chance to indulge Impmon's ego? Sign him up please. Impmon poses on a rock, preening. Draw him like your French digimon, Hiccup.]

Oh yeah? Get a load of this specimen!

[Leatherhead ignores the digimon, looking at Hiccup's work.]

Those marks, they are not like the ones from my dimension.

[Hiccup just stares for a minute before directing his attention back to Leatherhead, flipping the sketchbook back around.]

I haven't found one person who's recognized them yet, besides Ed. They're runes. Back home this is like...the viking written language. Like see....your name would be....L-E-A-T-H-E-R.....H-E-A-D.

[Hiccup says the letters out loud as he writes them on a blank piece of paper, holding the pad so the boy can see.]

See? Like that.

[Oh wow, that's actually pretty...Leatherhead looks on with rapt attention as Hiccup writes.]

It is beautiful...I wish I could write like that...

[He could write secret codes, ones the kraang couldn't read.]

You like it?

[The viking grins, suddenly scooting over a bit to give Leatherhead room to sit down, Gomamon completely asleep in his lap by now.]

Why don't you watch me write it a little? ..It's not really that hard to learn, you just have to know the alphabet.

[He eyes Impmon for a minute before adding.]

..I've been practicing drawing Digimon lately...you want me to draw Impmon while I'm at it?

[bigsoftie]

If you say no, you're a mook!

[Leatherhead takes a seat next to Hiccup. It's kind of exhilarating, being around people who's first instinct is other than fear.]

...yes, I would like both.

You would not mind teaching me?

[trainsurdragons]

[He nods and immediately begins sketching Impmon right away, choosing to ignore the Digimon's comment for now.]

Of course not! It's really handy to learn, if anything.

[OOC: Let me know if Impmon has any unique traits about him, otherwise I'll draw a normal Impmon for his entry! I will get to work on it ASAP.]

[Impmon looks like the standard Impmon, other than his color scheme--dark red with green scarf. His face, a little chubbier than most, is covered with freckles.

Leatherhead just sits back and watches Hiccup draw. It felt good to watch a human create, rather than destroy, both him and Marley seemed to have that joy for life. Perhaps the same joy the human who raised him had.]

[Gomamon's head on his arm slows him down a little, but Hiccup seems to be drawing effortlessly otherwise. It's both a habit he's picked up from building things, and a skill he didn't really know he had.

Before he finishes the sketch though he pauses to begin writing Impmon's name above, slowly so Leatherhead can see.]

I-M-P....M-O-N. There, just like that. The letters look pretty funny to most, but I agree...they are kinda pretty I guess, in some ways.

[Leatherhead follows the markings of the letters, doing his best to understand the runes. Slowly he's starting to make sense of them. He smiles, nodding slowly.]

They are strong letters, but with a beauty many miss...

[Hiccup nods in agreement, pausing to switch pages for a minute. Quickly he writes all the letters of the alphabet down, before carefully printing each corresponding rune beneath it.

Then he tears the page off, and hands it to Leatherhead.]

Here, you can keep this to practice with when you've got some time. I'll show you how to write these letters now, if you'd like.

[Sorry Impmon, you're getting momentarily ignored.]

[With the enthusiasm of a child, Leatherhead takes the slip of paper and begins toying with the idea of the runes. He begins by writing his name, a slow process at first, but he eventually gets it.

Next he tries another name...Michelangelo. This name is even harder than before. It takes him even longer, but eventually through trial and error he gets this one. Satisfied, he shows it ti his newfound acquaintance.]

[With a grin Hiccup takes the paper so he can get a closer look.]

You did a great job Leatherhead! I can read what that says without much problem- Michelangelo.

[He does pause to show Leatherhead a few mistakes he made with the lettering here and there, but beyond that he's surprised he was able to pick up on the runes as quickly as he did. Hiccup returns to his drawing of Impmon as he chuckles.]

Sooner or later, you'll be able to write without having to look at the paper.

You really think I could?

[That does his heart good. He never really got encouragement from anyone besides Michelangelo.]

Thank you for teaching me, Hiccup.

[trainsurdragons]

I don't see why not. You're a fast learner.

[He offers the teen a warm smile before nodding.]

And you're welcome.

[A few more marks here and there, and Hiccup leans forwards with the book resting on the edge of his knees so both Impmon and Leatherhead can see the picture he drew.]

There, all done!

I guess you could say I need to learn fast.

[Impmon hops down to take a look at his picture. Whistling, the digimon looks pleased by what he sees.]

Nice job, buddy! Way to capture my essence!

You're welcome, Impmon. I've been drawing Digimon a lot recently, so you were good practice.

[He runs a finger down the binding of the notebook thoughtfully. If he keeps this up, the pages will be all filled before he knows it.]

That's right I'm good practice! I'm the best everything! I'm gonna be a great digimon...when Heather here pulls his junk together.

[Leatherhead nods his head before backing out.]

We both thank you, is what he means.

[Impmon don't start anything.]

...Well you're welcome, both of you.

[Man, Hiccup's finding more and more that a lot of people got stuck with boisterous partners, himself included.]

I wish to say sorry for how Impmon acted the other day.

We both can forget our actions have consequences.

[...well that shut up Impmon. He knows exactly what Leatherhead means by consequences of actions.]
