Go Rescue the Derp Fist
Who: People in the Defenders and Divers groups
What: The Search for Masaru doesn't go so well
When: June 28-June 30
Where: The Dark Field found on Server
The Trailmon to Server left hours ago. Twenty-one people were aboard and split their separate ways at a terminal close to the Village. Some went to protect the Yokomon and Koromon that were left unaffected by the corruption while most of the others had a mission at hand: rescuing the dummy Masaru Daimon (I mean, who is crazy enough to fall into a dark field after punching a digimon in the face?).
No Digimon seems to be around as group approaches the field. It as Ryou said, too, full of bright colors and random numbers. The size isn't great, so one must wonder how a boy got lost in there. Or perhaps you're unable to think on that when you realize how still everything is.
No wind seems to pass and no sound can be heard.
Whatever's going on, it can't be normal for the Digital World either, can it?
[[OOC: So here's how this will work! We will give you all a few rounds to prepare for going into the Dark Field. This includes roping off the Divers and making sure your groups are ready. For this we're going to need you guys to be a little speedy at first. Once we feel that everyone is ready, we will post of the individual group fight threads. The only difference this time is that we will be setting up a thread for the Divers.
The Digimon you will be fighting will also make their appearance! Please note it will take several hours after the Divers take their leave that the Digimon will appear. We will introduce these Digimon and explain the mechanics of their behavior, and will play them intermittently (Or we will try to! Bear with us if we miss a tag or two!)
Divers, unlike the last time, you will find that the tethers do not last very long. After about a half hour or so in the dark field, the ropes will disappear. Those on the outside will notice this too as the ropes you thought were secure suddenly are no longer there. On the 30th, the Divers will find a clue hinting that Masaru has found his way out of the dark field on his own, though you will not actually see him. It is then that you will be able to find your way out.
Please note for those reading the Divers thread, there is content involving at times graphic death, violence, and issues pertaining to eating disorders. Proceed with caution.
Good luck! If you have any questions please let us know. PM us, Plurk us, or email us. We should be around!]]

[His speech had maybe helped, so Ed was in something of a good mood for staring into what he knew was going to be his own personal hell. Fear? What was fear! Fear was that stuff that you feel when stuff looks bad, but all that there is is to power through it and do what you have to do. He nods at his partners Marley and Donnie, still giving them his most confident smile.]
Yeah. Let's do this. [Without fear, Ed puts his hand into the Dark Field. The rest of him follows it inside, and he vanishes into it without hesitation. Guilmon follows after, seeming very serious. Last time she'd left early, but like heck was she doing that again.
This time Ed was carrying burgers after all.]

He looked down at Kamemon one more time before stepping forward as they both entered the Dark Field, ready to begin the mission.]

There is no more light, however. Just darkness, endless darkness. Even the path behind them has disappeared into darkness. The world has faded.
Though there is no sight, there is touch. Any sensations felt, especially to Ed and Guilmon, are a persistent itch, as if they are hypersensitive. Any sensations felt are not comforting. Every step forward should instill a greater sense of fear, of discomfort.
After about ten minutes, the worries will increase. Why? Because they will all feel a sharp snap!. If they try to test their tethers, they will realize they've cut off only a few inches from their bodies, frayed at the ends as if burned off by fire.]

That was before the light flashed brighter than even a spotlight. Her arms flew up to cover her eyes, shielding them from the blinding light as best she can. After a few seconds, when she was sure that the light had subsided, she lowered her arms and blinked.
An inky blackness surrounded her. She rubbed her eyes and looked around her once more. Had she gone blind? No. No she wasn't blind. There was no way. No...she was absolutely sure she wasn't blind. But that just brought up another worry...
Where was Hawkmon? Donnie? Ed? Anyone, really!
She took in a deep breath. Calm down, Marley. They're fine. They have to be fine. Releasing the breath as a sigh, she lifted her head and took a few steps forward. She shivered. It felt as though there were bugs crawling all over her skin. One hand went up to scratch at her arm.
Marley stepped further into the darkness, still scratching her arm. She didn't know how much time had passed, but suddenly, that didn't matter. A SNAP echoed around her. She spun around and looked down at the rope tied around her waist. It was limp on her side.
It was broke.
The rope broke.
How the hell was she suppose to get out now?!
Did the others have the same problem?
Oh God...
Panic began to set in as she spun around and around, looking for someone...ANYONE!]
Hawkmon! Ed! Donnie! Guys, where are you!?!?
[She took off running. She didn't know where she was going, but she didn't care. She had to find one of them! She HAD to!]

His fears were confirmed as the liught became blinding, forcing him to cover his eyes. Then he felt the darkness, the darkness that he normally hid behind. It was normally somewhat of a comfort zone for him, but this darkness... it felt evil
Donnie soon uncovered his eyes, and his vision was met with the same darkness that he often trusted. He tried to wait for his vision to adjust, but to his surprise it wasn't happening. He looked around desperatley, trying to find or hear anything familiar.]
Kamemin? Marley? Ed? [Only silence met hsi ears.] Guys? [His grip on his bo tightened.] Oh man,m where are they-!
[His words fell short when he heard a loud snap. One that he recognized as a rope cracking. Eyes shooting wide in alarm, he grabbed his harness and felt around until his hands made it to the end...
The incredibly short end.]
No...
[Panic took him over and his mind became filled with questions. Why and how did the rope break? Where were his teammates and his partner? How could they get out now that they had no connection tot he other side of the Dark Field?
He gulped, trying to calm his nerves. With no other choice, he stook off in a sprint to search for the others. It was all that he could do.]

So what?! The uncomfortable feeling meant that he had food, and that food was going to fill his belly when he got hungry! It's fine!
And that feeling around his waist... the taunt feeling of--that is not taunt. That is not taunt at all.
Okay, don't panic. Don't panic... so you've completely lost the rope. Ed takes deep breaths, ignoring the feeling, ignoring all of it. Press it out of your head, Ed. No, force it out.
He forces himself to smile, and then to laugh.] Well! It could be a lot worse! Don't you worry, dark field thing, I'm just in here to get something you don't want--and then I'll be right out! Think of it like a doctor! So I'd really appreciate it if you don't try to hurt me anymore... I'm just trying to help a friend, and if you'd help me I'd be glad to be your friend too! [Hey--he didn't know that it wasn't sentient. Why not offer to befriend hell?]
no subject
But sound penetrates the darkness. Voices will haunt them, voices speaking hurtful words they've heard in the past from those they love. Just one phrase, repeating, every so often. But each time they hear it, it's worse, and it will continue to get worse.]
no subject
Ed had been expecting something like this. There was a lot of hate attached to the word. Well... maybe if he explained it, that would take his mind off of things. He took another deep breath, exhaling and smiling even wider.]
It's weird how you find these things... [Just smile wider. Explain. It's probably still scared... yeah, that's right. This thing, everything going on here is a misunderstanding. Just try hard. Try harder Don't let what happened last time happen now.]
That was my sister you just sounded like. She's someone who's really important to me. Sh-she killed my parents and stole something important from me back when I was just a baby... then she started using it for herself. What you heard there was from when we were fighting.
I asked her why she was trying to do all this. She told me that she wanted someone to be proud of her--that she felt like her parents never thought she was good enough.
Haha... I promised her that I'd be her friend, but only if she stopped doing all this crazy stuff and set things right. She promised, and she hugged me.
Then she stabbed me in the back, and called me an idiot--but you already heard that, right? Though, if I can ask--why is it always the sad stuff? Why don't you ever show something happy? Like, yeah, this hurt... but after that I got to meet someone awesome. You could show me that instead. Or you could remind me of that time I saved everyone at the Endymion tournament. [Oh hey, yeah, this trying to hold a conversation with a thing that might not even actually exist is actually really helping.
Let's just not think about how crazy I look right now. :'D]

He felt nothing, he heard nothing, he saw nothing. Finally he paused, his legs sore from what almost felt like hours of running. He cursed his physical limitations, he had a large amount of endurance and stamina, but not as much as he wished that he had. He always had been considered the weakest...]
"Maybe it's becaus eyou are weak Donnie. Seriously, just give it up now before you poke your eye out with that stick.
[That voice... that oh so familiar gruff voice. It sounded a few years younger, but...]
R-Raph? [He looked around, no it couldn't have been Raph. It sounded far younger as well, like when they were kids. But it brought back an old memory of when they were younger, back when they began weapon training. Donnie had been doing the worst, and Raph had found enjoyment of taunting him. he learned to accept it as a joke, but back then...]
No, i-it's just me imagining things... It's nothing serious...
"Donnie, I need you to hold back. Metalhead is just too clumsy. You're not coming Donnie."
[Another familiar voice, and this time he recognized it as Leo. He recognized those words, back when he had made Metalhead. Back when he wanted to prove so badly that he could be useful without a bo staff. But Leo's words... they had hurt. They really had...]
No... he didn't mean it like that! It's... it's just in my head. Just in my head...
"I can't believe that we lost him like that! I mean, dude your supposed to be the genius! Couldn;t you have done something to stop us form losing Leatherhead?!"
[And that voice he recognized as Mikey, and it was one of the last things that his brother had told him before the fiasco happened. He had been hiding his frustration over TCRI, and Donnie had gone to get him to open up. Oh did he ever. Mikey felt bad and begged for forgiveness later, but that didn't stop the guilt. That didn't stop the pain. The damage had been done.
His three brothers voices echoed through his ears, enough that he dropped his staff to cover them tightly. Mocking laughter from his brothers became mixed in as well. Words such as 'Geek" and "Shellhead" echoed, words that he used to find hurtful. But hearing it so many times, it was bringing the pain back. His brothers voices seemed to get harsher and harsher. All he could do was press on his ears harder in a pitiful attempt to get rid of the voices.]

Surely she would see someone...
Right?
She let her feet to carry her as far as her ragged breathing would allow. Several minutes (or hours, she didn't know) later found her bent forward with her hands on her knees as she gulped down air. She felt dizzy, lightheaded even from the run. Must be why I'm hearing that buzzing sound, she mused to herself before finally managing to straighten up, her chest still heaving with trying to regain her composure.]
--arley's fault.
[Her heart stopped. It sounded like...but it couldn't be. She wasn't here. Tina couldn't be here!]
Can I just say what everyone is thinking?
...No... [Marley's hands rose to clench at her shirt over her heart.] ...No, please, don't say it...
This is Marley's fault.
[She shook her head quickly back and forth as her hands flew to her ears. Sapphire blue orbs clenched tightly close while padded feet took a couple of steps backward.]
Can I just say what everyone is thinking? This is all Marley's fault.
No...No, it's not. I-It's not...
[The buzzing turned to words to overbearing echoes around her. She felt like she couldn't breathe. Tina...Tina, she had said that after Marley had passed out at Sectionals, costing them the competition.
God, what was HAPPENING?!]
This is Marley's fault. Can I just say what everyone is thinking? This is Marley's fault. Can I just say what everyone is thinking?
[With a choked sob, Marley took off at a run. She couldn't take this abuse any more! She had to find the others.
Find the others, and find Masaru.
She couldn't afford to fail.
She just couldn't do that again.]

Maybe it's a reprieve. Those familiar with the field will know it is not.
Each should find something different, a light in the distance, one that does not shine on anything. It is an orb, floating in front of them. Should they try to run away from it, they will still approach it. It is calling them; they are drawn to it, even if they don't want to be.
In it will be an image, a scene.
A moment long passed: that which should of been eternal, the ties of blood sullied and ruined.
A mentor and father dead, and a home abandoned.
All things familiar and secure falling to pieces, destroyed by a foolish mistake.
Whatever the image, with it will come scratches. In an instant, whatever causes the scratch is gone, but the pain will last.]

His hands dropped instantly. He still wouldn't see, but upon moving his fingers, he felt the sensation of... six? He felt his chest, and his hands came in contact with ha hard substance, such as his plastron. Was he...]
I-I'm a... turtle again? What? But... but how is that...?
[his already boggled mind became even more confused, which made him even more unnerved. His thoughts of this took a brief pause when he looked up and he saw a light. Whether it was curiosity, relief, or just something else entirely, Donnie was drawn to it. A sign to Kamemon and his teammates perhaps? It was a chance that he was willing to take.
He ran forward, his dropped staff having long been forgotten. He kept running closer... closer... closer. That's when he saw the source of the light; an orb. He paused, merely staring at it. Even if he were to try to turn away, he would find that he could not.
And that's when s chilling sight cam before his eyes.
It was the Lair, he recognized it instantly. But at the same time, ti was almost un-recognizeable. he saw every room flash before his eyes, all had things smashed, broken, and slashed apart. Broken fragments of glass were all over the floor, along with various fabrics and other things. Blood was also mixed in, his brothers blood?
He could feel a mix of shock and anger when his lab was shown, all of his inventions were completely demolished and glass was mixed in with chemicals all over the ground. Everything... all that he had worked so hard for...
But that was nothing compared to when he saw the dojo. Weapons were spread all around, there were deep slash and stab marks in the hard wood, even the tree was scratched up. The carpeting had slashes within it as well as a brown substance. It looked like... dry blood?
And that was when Donnie came upon the heartbreaking sight. On the ground with a dropped sword near him, was a corpse. A corpse covered in harsh slashes that had ooze gallons of blood that almost nearly covered the entire dojo floor. The figure was almost unrecognizable. Donnie's eyes widened instantly as fear and sorrow began to fill him. he recognized that corpse instantly. The slashed-up magenta-colored robe, the brown fur, the proportions of a rodent. There was only one person that it could be.]
S-Sensei... No... N-no! Sensei, he can't... there's now way that... he-he's not...
[He covered his mouth, unable to speak as he held back chocked sobs. His brown eyes were filled with un-represable tears, streams of them flowing down his face. His mask was instantly soaked. Was this... was this what had happened int he three months? Had the Foot found the Lair? Had the Shredder finally unleashed his cruel revenge?
In the mix of his sorrow, fear also gripped the teenager. Where... where were his brothers? Were they alive? Did they escape? Did the Foot capture them? Or what of April? Did the Foot find and kill her as well? Or did the Kraang find her? or...
An aching pain then enveloped his right arm, and he pulled away form the orb with a yell. He was still sobbing as he fell to his knees, but he no longer had anything preventing them form being heard. He fell to his knees, an ice cold sensation meeting him, but he didn't care. He stared at his arm, his hand was red and filled with blisters as if he were burned. Along his arm was a deep scratch.
But he didn't care about what injuries he now had, if anything he felt like he deserved even more pain. He didn't even deserve to have his old body back, he felt only shame that he was a mutant ninja turtle. His sobs became louder, far more uncontrolled as fear and sorrow continued to grip him.
Master Splinter his sensei... his father was dead. His brothers... were they the same? Not even the sensible thought that what he saw wasn't real came to his mind. All that Donnie felt that he could do was sit there, crying out for his father to come back.]

That was why it was doing it, maybe? Yeah--that could be. Maybe this was a test to get to know it better, or for it to get to know him? Maybe it didn't really want to hurt anyone. It could just be really socially awkward! Well, either way he'd figure that all out later. Right now he needed to help a friend. And everyone else, he reminded himself--they were all lost now, weren't they?
He could see the light in the distance, approaching him slowly. The voices had been more harsh than before, and it was hard to carry on a one-sided conversation with darkness itself forever. Before it arrives he finishes a pair of burgers, and then he stands up to approach it. Since it was going to follow him, he might as well get things over with now.
This time, things started a little less hypothetical than last time. He felt a stabbing pain in his back, and he scowls for a moment as the familiar scene playe dout. Being stabbed by someone he trusted, by someone who had raised him from birth.]
Yeah--That's what I told you about before. From the line? [He grunts, forcing himself to his feet again as the scene continues. His sister's acts played out in front of him again like they had at the Pool of Infinity. The murders she'd caused. The people she'd manipulated.
The knowledge sinking in that he'd have to kill her. That he'd have to kill someone.
That no matter what, there was no way to resolve this situation without killing someone made his heart sink. He remembers the pain--it's as vivid now as it was then.]
...It's not easy, you know... [Again, talking to the dark zone. To himself--to no one at all. Who knew?] It's hard to find out that you have to take a life. That you have to take the life of someone you loved growing up. It's even harder when they lie to you the entire time.
[The scene changes again, to a furious battle between the two. Spell strikes spell, gunfire rains through the air. Dead bodies litter the battlefield--the bodies of his friends.]
Yeah--and there's the reality that death is scary. Nobody wants the people they like to die. But I won't give up. I can't. If I were to give up...
[His thought is cut off by a punch connecting int he vision and in reality as well, knocking the wind out of him. The Dark Zone's pulling no punches this time, it seems. Lastly, the scene changes to that of a child in a crib. He remebers this one well... His sister, standing over it with a glinting silver knife.]
Well. It's partly my fault that this is still happening, anyways. I couldn't get the resolve to do what I had to do. I didn't want to believe in a solution that involved killing someone.
[The knife slashes through the darkness, carving a strip of flesh off of the infant's shoulder--Ed feels the burn in his own. He saw Lila hold the Seal she'd cut off--watched it transform into energy, and watched her eat it. He saw her kill his mother, then their father. He suts his eyes and shakes his head.]
But that's the reality of who Lila is. She's not someone who we can reason with. She's someone who became addicted to her own power... it's really sad, but there's not anything we can do about it.
[He was a lot more hurt this time around than he was this far in last time... but he wasn't going to stop, and having a full stomach and an interesting conversational partner seems to help him as well. He wouldn't despair. As long as anyone was counting on him, he definitely wasn't the type to give up from something like this!]
Sometimes you have to do something terrible, because the other person doesn't give you a choice--but I'm not here to hurt you, so you have that choice with me. I just want to leave with everyone together. You can understand that... right?

Ow! Stop! Tina, stop! I'm sorry! I'm sorr-AH!
[Not paying attention to her running, Marley tripped over her feet and was sent sprawling over what she could only imagine was ground. Her hands scraped against the surface, the stinging of her palms only providing evidence that her hands were likely going to be bleeding.
She remained lying on the ground for what she could only assume were minutes (though in reality, there was no way for her to tell just how long she had been within the Dark Field), and simply sobbed. The words continued around her, the scratches still appearing on her arms whenever her name was spat out like a poison. It happened so many times that she soon found herself desensitized to the feeling, her arms now numb from the numerous lacerations to her skin.
Suddenly, it stopped. All of it stopped. The venomous words. The clawing on her arms. She almost didn't notice between the numb limbs and choked sobs that wracked her body. Hiccuping softly as she brushed her fingers across her eyes to clear her vision from the tears that didn't seem to want to cease, Marley pushed herself to her feet with a wince. Her hands were sore, as were her knees. Likely from the fall. She looked around, not expecting to see anyone, but it was better than standing still.
One glance over her shoulder did cause her to freeze, though. Something caught her attention, something she wasn't expecting. A light. A small...ball of light. Maybe Masaru or the others were there!
She took off at a sprint, the distance closing between her and the light rather quickly. Too quickly for her taste. There was no one at the light. Just her. Still alone...
The bright ball of light grew darker before bursting in a flash. Marley threw her arms up to cover her eyes, lowering them moments later to find not the darkness she had been in previously. It was dark, yes, but a familiar dark. Flashing multicolored light and...music. Music she knew. Her friends. The Glee Club. Everyone was there, and they were dancing. Feeling a light breeze, she looked down at herself and realized she wasn't wearing the clothes she started this journey out in. Things started to click. The lights. The music. The clothes.
Sectionals. She was at Sectionals!]
No...No, this can't--How is this possible?!
[A spotlight focused on her for a brief moment. She cried out in pain and cradled her left arm to her chest. It felt like it was BURNING! Taking a step back, she looked down at her shaking arm and gasped.
There was a rather large burn mark on the inside of her left forearm.]
This is all Marley's fault.
All Marley's fault.
Marley's fault.
Marley's. Marley's. Marley's!
[She looked up at the sound of Tina's voice, and found the girl performing as they did at sectionals. Except every look thrown at Marley was a glare. The song, though still playing around her, were not coming from Tina's lips. They moved with the insult as another spotlight focused on Marley. Once more she cried out in pain as the smell of burning flesh reached her nose. Looking down, she found a matching scorch mark on her inner right forearm.]

But does it actually? The Dark Field will have them believe otherwise. More memories will play in their minds, awful memories. Some aren't their own. They are of wars, human, Digimon, other creatures, natural disasters. Like the culmination of every bad thing in every universe pours into their heads. Maybe even happy memories, warped by the Field to appear negative and hurtful. Nothing will provide any comfort.
Overwhelming.
They've lost something. Everything. No matter what the Field is showing them, they feel like there is something precious that is lost, forever unattainable. By now, they have been in here, this abyss, for more than a day, though it might feel like much longer.
The scratches, the injuries, they will keep getting worse. They will cut the Chosen to their core.]

He was already filled with so much horror and despair, but it was far from over. As he tried to stand, more memories began to flash through his eyes. Visions of his childhood, of his brothers cruelly taunting his weak fighting ability, of his love for building and studying things. Those taunts had hurt so much as a child...
The came visions of events that happened not so long ago. The failute of Metalhead, his brothers nearly being killed, Raph's harsh criticism of what eh nearly caused. Memories of being beaten by the mutant monkey and of his brothers cruel laughter. They had only done so once they knew it was fine, but that wasn't so in the vision. They called him weak, a failure as a ninja. Another memory of that week, when Falco said those cruel words.
"By the way, do you really think you have a chance with April?"
That tone... that cruel, mocking tone. That phrase kept repeating itself over and over. Donnie could only listen and watch the images in horror, closing his eyes tightly and clenching his fists. He really did have no chance, he didn't...
More memories appeared. The terror he felt when Leatherhead grabbed his face those four times. Leo and Raph's merciless taunting of him and Mikey during the Mousers incident, calling them unimportant. The loss of the Power Cell flashed as well, and along with it the guilt of losing Leatherhead. if he hadn't plowed through that wall, if he didn;t break the led container...
Then at last, visions that he didn't recognized appeared. He saw the Shredder an dhis men int he Lair, his family viciously fighting bacvk. As each of his three brothers got slashed, stabbed, or evne just ounched, Donnie felt that paon. Various slashes, big and small, began to form on his body, causing him to flinch in pain. He felt the blood ooze down, but he was to filled with horror by what he was seeing.
He was forced to watch the Shredder approach his father, he watched as those gauntlet's blafes moved and...]
NO! Stop, please stop! This can't... this can't be real! It just can't...
[But no matter how hard he tried to tell himself this, it did nothing.
He then saw his brothers flee, all three covered in severe slashes. But the Foot came upon them, they trapped them. The three tried to fight back, but it was pointless.
Leo went down first, placing himself between the Foot and his two younger brothers. It took about twenty or so slashes and stabs to have him hit the ground and finally die. Then Raph's anger erupted and he tried to fight the Foot. but his anger and despair were his downfall and the Foot easily killed him as well. Mikey was last, and he did nothing to fight back. He was too horrified to make a move, his blue eyes were wide in terror and sorrow, his entire body trembling. All ti took was one fatal slash to the head...
And that was it. Three corpses laid in the sewers, the concrete becoming covered in the fowl red substance. All Donnie could do was look in horror, at first frozen in shock. But then all he could do was hug himself and his body fully collapsed onto the harsh, cold ground.]
Leo... Raph... Mikey... No, please... please get up! You can't be dead, you can't be! Please... [Sob] Don;t do this to me...
]He could no longer speak as he gave into his despair and broke down. He screamed, he sobbed, he did nothing to calm himself. He had just watched his family die right before his eyes. He didn't even need to see a vision of April to know that she would be the same. In those three months that he was gone, his family were all killed. The Shredder had won.
And it was all his fault.]

--but in the end, Ichirou beat her up and she barely got away with her life. That's the only time she's ever really lost. Even when three of us wound up fighting her at once she was strong enough to--
[His thought was interrupted by a picture of a large school.] That's Momijigaoka Academy, remember? I said earlier that sis was the one who destroyed it, so you don't have to-- [Ed's thoughts were interrupted by a crushing pressure bearing down on him from behind.] What the..?!
['Saa... Edward.' Oh no. Oh no. The pressure got worse, and with it came a familiar panic. A breath over his ear.] OF ALL THE THINGS ON EARTH WHY ARE YOU BRINGING THIS UP?! NO! NO I AM NOT ANSWERING THIS ONE!
[The weight grows heavier, less bearable. He can feel a wind blow over his ear and the old terror that is dealing with Lily came straight to mind. Something was whispered in his ear, and when it was his eyes shot huge.] OKAY FINE I'LL TALK JUST STOP! L-L-L-Lily Sakuma! That's her name! She asked me out once, I turned her down, a-a-and she decided to be my friend and do all sorts of weird stuff like that! It was really awkward and sh-she said she did it because she ate energy and I always freaked out! Like this! Okay?! Okay! [The thought was interrupted by the feeling of teeth sinking into his ear. This was enough to make him sigh with relief, even as it felt like the teeth were trying to rip his ear off.] Oh thank god you're moving on. [It was weird, but it was much easier to just deal with the trauma than it was dealing with her. I mean, seriously!]
Anyways, she's a really good friend and I really wish her well but she's--[The town, standing after the fight with the Beemon from before. The memory of a friend who was around then, who he was supposed to have owed lunch because she protected it all. But she'd vanished, hadn't she? Everything here could vanish in a moment's notice and there wasn't any way to protect them... why protect anything at all, then?] H-hey now... that's not right either. You know, you don't need a reason to protect people. Even if you can't find one, you should do it. Because that's how people work! [The city itself exploded, engulfing him in a fireball and burning him.]
[The images shifted again to a familiar face, pointing a gun at him.] Oh, her? Th-that's Cass... erm, CD to you I guess. We can just move on... there's nothing you can do to me that she hasn't already--[BANG! BANG!]
[There were suddenly two shots that went through his gut, making him fall over for a moment before he staggered back to his feet.] Y-yeah. That. That's about how things g-HURGHF! [He's yanked forward onto the ground, and felt a boot in his back. He heard more gunfire as new wounds cascade over his back. Still, he crawls on.]
Th-that one kind of hurt... But it's okay. In the end she always says good job, and she'll come through for everyone. That's the kind of person she is--she's reliable and cool. [The image again chances to CD standing aside Lila, talking causally with her over his dead body. The implications are clear, and Ed takes immediate offense.] Oh come on, that won't happen at all... she promised she was going to stay neutral..!
[He feels something flick against his forehead. He sees a stone disk drop to the ground in front of them... the one he gave to her. "Of course I'd want it... The boss was right. You really are a naive idiot."]
Dark Zone, that was really rude and I'm starting to think you don't really want to be left alone after all.
[He crawls onward, forcing himself to stay focused.] It's one thing if you insult me, but don't insult my friends. They're good people.
[BANG! Another fresh wound opens up on his leg this time.] And that only happened the one time..!
CW: Eating Disorders; Blood and Gore
I can't--make it stop...make it stop, please!
Marley's fault!
[She felt dizzy. The stage was spinning in front of her, making it hard to focus on the faces in the crowd, her fellow glee club members. The music suddenly sounded muffled, as if her ears were filled with cotton. For a brief moment, she had the thought that she was going to pass out. Suddenly, though, everything just...stopped.
Silence.
Darkness.
The dizziness was gone, but she still fell to her knees. She winced and gasped in pain at having landed on scrapes still sore from falling earlier. Her chest heaved with deep breaths before she lifted her eyes, hoping for an answer to what was going on. Her eyes only widened when a pair of familiar voices reached her ears.]
The judges, by unanimous vote, have declared the Warblers victorious.
Yeah, well, we'd all be here if you hadn't face-planted at sectionals!
[Coach Sylvester...Tina...
That's right. It was her fault they didn't make it. She had failed them. She messed up and it kept the New Directions from going to Regionals. Tina was right...
With a shuddering breath, Marley pushed herself to her feet and looked up. Blinking, she found herself standing in a war zone. A battlefield. Hundreds, no, thousands of Digimon were fighting, but there were also humans on horseback carrying flags adorned with crosses piercing others similar to them with lances and spears, blood flying everywhere. Tornadoes flung creatures of all kinds in every direction, some of them impaling on A cheetah flew past her at top speed before careening into a gazelle not three feet behind her. Marley turned just in time to see the poor creature's windpipe ripped out by the victorious cat.
All of it made her stomach churn and when she faced away, she had to gasp at where she was. It was a restroom, decorated like the restrooms at McKinley. The sound of applause outside, Artie telling everyone to get into their places for the next number in Grease...
Grease?
Marley looked down at her clothes and found herself wearing her yellow Sandra Dee dress. And it was tight. So tight. She felt like she couldn't breath in it. Her stomach was doing flip flops. The dizzy feeling came back and everything felt like it was going to fall out from under her.]
I was distracted by Marley's unfortunate and very noticeable weight gain.
[Kitty...
That was the last straw. Marley flew into a stall and hunched over it, and attempted to throw up anything and everything in her stomach. Nothing came up. Her body wracked with wave after wave of dry heaving. Only when she felt completely exhausted did her body finally stop writhing.]
Well, get over here and let Femme Fatale tell you what she sees. You look H-O-T-T, hot.

And then?
Abruptly, it all stops.
Whatever they are experiencing stops...and then something new begins.
The same vision. In fact, unexpectedly, the Chosen should be in the same vicinity.
A Digimon, shining white, too bright to see, brutally slaughters Digimon of all sizes. One after the other, they’re cut down, eliminated.
And with each digimon cut down a scratch is formed as you can only look on. The Dark Area has grabbed you, seemingly chaining you down to the nothingness. You are helpless and can only look on in horror? Anger? Fear and true terror?
Yet questions should be plaguing you. How big is it? Unclear. The light conceals it. Could make it tall as a skyscraper or small as a basketball. Screams of pain echo, one after the other. The Digimon doesn't stop. The village doesn't end. It appears like whatever this creature is, it's destroying everything in its path.]

Please... please just let me out of here. please just send me home! I can't-!
[He stopped speaking when once again, a vision appeared before his eyes. He saw... something bright. He couldn;t see what ti was, but he did see what it was doing.
He saw as thousands of Digimon were brutally slaughtered. Baby ones, Champion-level ones. he saw them all get brought down viciously and without mercy. Having just witnessed his brothers massacred, it filled Donnie with horror and shock all over again. Those innocent Digimon... THose helpless screams of pain and horror...
But he was forced to watch the death of one Digimon in particular... his own partner's. He saw Kamemon look at the bright light, hsi eyes wide in horror. he watched as the little turtle ran for his life and the horror in his eyes as he saw Digimon die all around him. But no matter how fast the Digimon ran, he couldn't escape whatever was after him. it only too one quick motion...]
No... KAMEMON, NO! [He saw the Digimon fall, dead.] No... he can't... he can't be...
[The illusions and visions that the young turtle had been forced to see had done it's damage. Donnie curled up into a ball, not even trying to hold back his tears. All the blood and senseless carnage that he had seen, watching everyone that he loved die... it was too much for him.]
Please... please just send me home! Just let the Foot Clan kill me! I... I just wanna go home...

I mean, it's lucky that I managed to poison her at the start, or it would've gone just how you... showed... me... [Ed's thought process is derailed by the massive digimon and its effortless wholesale slaughter of, well, everything.] Holy poop that is a lot of explosions.
[A green scarfed digimon is among the rest, its nine tails fluttering behind it as it valiantly fires a volley of flames at the larger digimon. The flames and the Kyubimon alike were torn asunder by a bright brilliant exploding laser beam. He moved to run towards it, but his legs wouldn't move. Was he scared?
No... no he was a lot of things right now but scared wasn't on that list. He knew this wasn't real--it was just another vision. That's all. Just a vision, with some mild possibly horribly disfiguring pain coming afterwards and then it'd be over. No problem, right? Unless maybe... what if this was the thing making the dark fields? But why would it do this..? He had to understand--if it was doing something so terrible there was a reason, right? He needed to know that reason!]
[He took a deep breath, and shouted... His voice was hoarse and scratchy--talking so much would do that to a person.]
Hey! Shiny guy! Stop hurting people! There's got to be a reasonable way we can talk things out, right?!

Everything stopped after the feeling of ice cold liquid trailed down her neck, her eyes burning.
Marley simply shook, remaining on her hands and knees as each image came into focus and then left just as quick. She felt just as she did just before going on stage for sectionals. She was exhausted, like she hadn't slept in days. Her stomach gurgled, either because it was still in knots or because she had nothing to eat since before this whole thing started. She stared at the ground, sweat gathering on her brow though she didn't feel hot at all.
A sound caught her attention. A cry of pain. She swallowed hard before lifting her head. Her eyes grew wide as saucers.]
N-No...
[Standing in front of her was a bright light in the form of a Digimon. It made a slashing motion and struck down a rookie Digimon. Marley cried out as her shirt tore across her stomach, revealing a scratch that bled lightly. Another Digimon was taken out just as quickly. Another cry. Another scratch, this time on her back. For every Digimon utterly destroyed, Marley received another small cut.
This bright light of a Digimon stopped, and seemed to turn and look down at Marley. Grateful for the small reprieve, she sighed. A pair of voices greeted her.
She knew those voices.]
D-Donnie...Ed...
[Marley couldn't understand what they were saying, but she knew those voices and she almost cried in relief. She found them! They were close!
The bright light came towards her, drawing her focus from her brief moment of happiness and struck at her. Or rather...the space next to her. A cut appeared just over her heart and she screamed. This one hurt worse than the others that she received and when she turned to see what had been hurt, she blanched.
It was Hawkmon.
It was Hawkmon speared in the chest (ironically in a similar placement of Marley's latest cut) by the bright light's equally bright weapon.]
...Hawkmon...?
[Her voice shook as the weapon was pulled from her partner and the bright light stepped over them to continue on its path of utter destruction. She crawled over to Hawkmon and reached out to touch his lifeless body.]
No...Hawkmon. Please get up. Please, I--
[She was cut short as Hawkmon disappeared in a column of bright light before she could even touch a single feather.]
No... NOOOOO!
[Finally, she broke down. She wrapped her arms tightly around her middle and leaned forward, nearly pressing her forehead to the ground in front of her as her body wracked with loud sobs.]

In its place, there is a beaten and bruised Masaru, looking like he's gone through everything they have. He stands, somehow, he trembles...and, his fist covered in a bright orange flickering, he punches into the darkness.
Once, twice, three times.
And though with each punch, the flickering gets dimmer and dimmer, eventually it looks like something opens, like a small crack...
One that he all but collapses out of.
This image also flickers away, like static. Another vision.]

He looks at his hand, but nothing. Still can't see a thing down here. Well, maybe it's glowing just the same but he doesn't know it? It's not completely impossible!]
Hey. Dark Field. If you can control what we see... then I'm going to assume this was all a warning about things that might happen... and I'm going to say thank you very much for showing us what might happen and for then showing us the way out... But... Next time, could you maybe start with that stuff? I mean I understand if you want to learn more about us by showing us things that may not actually be normal but you're being really rude whether you know it or not and most people would find this really, really grating.
[He takes a deep breath, balling his hand into a fist and swallowing the pain for a bit longer. The others were nearby, and they were in worse shape than him, somehow. He had to do something.]
I don't know if I have that kind of strength... But you have to have showed us all that for a reason, and I'm going to at least give it a try! Pardon me if this hurts!
[ED STATUS: PUNCHING THE DARKNESS WITH A LOUD SHONEN YELL!]
