[Garurumon has no time to dodge and she is frozen solid. But some of Kyubimon's flames hit her and conveniently weaken the ice enough for her to burst free.

But if Kyubimon thinks Garurumon is going to thank her, she better think again. She was confident she would have broken free herself mere seconds later. Already in close range of IceDevimon, she claws at the devil's face.

Meanwhile, as Shark runs, he tries to think back to where he last saw the device.]

Shouldn't be too far, right? We took a break before we got here and I saw it then.

Yeah! Sonata doesn't think it's that far away... [Though she still thinks she gave it to Gatomon to hold, that traitor.]

[adventuremons]

[IceDevimon takes both hits! Bam, bam, as its face seems almost shaved, revealing data, and its wings start to melt.

Disturbingly enough, it still fights on, sending icicles from the remains of its wings.

The device, meanwhile, should rest a little before the start of the underwater tunnel. Right where they dropped it.]

[fuhrinkaed]

[The icicles scrape and scratch at Kyubimon, as she growls from taking the attack head on. She lets loose a roar and charges; when she does she curls forward and sets herself in a wheel of fire.]

[Meanwhile, Ed is busily searching right around the start of it, but he hasn't stumbled upon the device yet.]

Come on... it's got to be around here somewhere..!

[marinebiting]

[Garurumon knows there's something that's just wrong about the IceDevimon even before it distorts. She can smell it. She aims for the melting wings, trying to tear them off with brute force.]

There!

[Shark points at the device, which is sitting almost innocently at the tunnel's entrance.]

[sonati]

Ah! Sonata will get it! [She's the smallest of the group so she's the fastest, right? She'll just go ahead and make a grab for it even though she was the one to lose it in the first place.

Gatomon, in the meantime, also... being the smallest of the group, continues to join in the fight against IceDevimon.]

[adventuremons]

[The combined attacks send the IceDevimon down, and it's laying on the tunnel ground, wings gone, body half-melted...but data slowly, slowly re-configuring.

Looks like the perfect opportunity for the group to get the data...if they get back in time.]

[WHELP ED IS DEFINITELY RUNNING but since he's not holding the device it's peripheral to this thread ATM.]

[Kyubimon on the other hand is doing something far more relevant: determining what happens when you hit a down but reconstituting Icedevimon with more fireballs courtesy of a Fox-Tail Inferno.]

[Aww hell no, this reforming stuff is against the rules! Garurumon makes a decision - she turns and runs down the corridor to meet the Chosen. The faster they get the data, the faster they can get out of here. When she reaches them, she bends down.]

Hop on you three.

[Shark obliges, though not without berating her for abandoning her post.]

[All aboardddddd!!]

[adventuremons]

[That IceDevimon's still burning! Wow!

...However, from the Dark Field, another begins to emerge...

Garurumon better hurry back.]

[fuhrinkaed]

[Kyubimon would like to register a complaint, this is not even remotely fair!! :T]

Wielder of the claws, continue mauling the one we have felled! I shall handle this one... [She faces the new IceDevimon, fur bristling as she growls.]

You face the Flame of Balance! Back, beast, lest ye be melted before my all-powerful flame!

[...but yeah in other news Ed is on Garurumon and heading back.]

[SHE RUNS LIKE A FIERCE BLIZZARD WIND and Kyubimon, Gatomon you two better not be dead yet because she will be so mad if you are.

But fortunately, it looks like they're both ok and she lets the three Chosen off her back.

Now throw the thing Sonata!!!]

[But aren't they supposed to get it back??? Oh well, in it goes!]

[Jeez, that's gonna be a problem. Along with the new IceDevimon, reaching forward slowly, but wait. Wait something's happening...]

[From the device, a bright golden light shines, making both the reforming and the new IceDevimon screech in pain, the latter retreating into the Dark Field.

The golden aura stops the device just short of the Dark Field, letting it hover...as it collects the needed data.

As this happens, a bright shining orb appears in front of Sonata, and when it clears, there's a pendant-like tag and crest.

It's her Crest, the Crest of Hope, bright and shining like it's owner.

[...well... that was a stupid thing that was almost done, and that definitely caused a crest.]

C-congratulations! Now uh.

[Grabs techie device.] We should... probably run away now.

Yeah.

Let's do that.

Finally. I don't think I can fight much longer.

[Don't worry, Ed, you'll have your reunion with your beloved Dark Field soon enough.

Sonata in the meantime is happy it all worked out!! Sort of!

Except she never did get that janken rematch.]

And then we can get ice cream, right?
