August Missions Part 2 - Dark Fields

[OOC: Please, only one mission per Chosen so that others have a chance to take part as well! All groups will receive a device to take data as well as the info in the blurbs below. This will act as a mingle log. There really is no sign up for these. We just request that you do not go over the max number of participants. Enjoy!]

[ Reflex had Roze reaching for her katana even as Kotemon leaped in front of her, his bamboo sword raised at the ready to defend her, cross though it made the girl. Both of them poised for combat, the didn't expect the sudden change, nor the interception. ]

Holy ever-lovin' crap, what the hell just happened? [ She shouted, wheeling around to look at Jin before reaching down and grabbing the collar of Kotemon's coat, taking off at a run. ]

Lady Roze! There is a battle to be fought! The creat--

I don't give a good God damn! We're gettin' this information and gettin' the heck out. I can't fight here and you're gonna get toasted. you see what those guys are doin'? That's not playin' games, K-man. That's for real! Let's GO already.

[That's not something Myotismon expects-- well, if a mindless infected Digimon can expect anything. The bats zoom back and terrorize their master, and BlackWargreymon takes the opportunity to hit it with an uppercut, knocking...well, it's entire jaw off.]

*Jin stands up, hiding a wince as his ankle flares with pain, and then takes off at a run of his own. The fall was painful, but he can't stop now.

Wisemon hovers between Myotismon and the pair of humans, watching curiously.*

How strange...the power difference here should be such that BlackWarGreymon should be able to destroy the Myotismon with ease. And yet they're fighting roughly equally. This Scope Virus as such unusual qualities...

[ Kotemon and Roze hurry along, Roze only dropping the little guy when she was fairly certain he could catch up and close the space between them as she fumbled with the device and tried to remember to precise directions.

Kotemon stands back-to-back with her as she works, his practice sword raised defiantly in defensive stance, large glowing eyes narrow as he watches everything, determined to learn every move, watch for any weakness. He was as much a warrior as Roze, regardless of his size, and he would prove it, first opportunity he got. ]

[The appearance of Wisemon now splits Myotismon's attention, but it still has to focus on the number one threat: BlackWargreymon.

The Digimon who, quite frankly, is having little trouble with Myotismon after that distraction. A Crimson Lightning attack is blocked with Dramon Destroyers. A claw dodged. And as he pushes him back, BlackWargreymon yells to Wisemon to distract Myotismon, for just a moment.]

[Meanwhile, Roze's device is starting to react, beeping quietly. Looks like it's starting to take data. Jin's close enough so his is as well.]

Ahhh, but this fight is so interesting...oh well. I am curious as to how well this will work. Eternal Nirvana!

*Wisemon holds one of his stones out toward Myotismon, attempting to suck the corrupted digimon inside.

Meanwhile, Jin notices that he's close enough for his device to gather data and lets out a quiet sigh, turning to watch the battle. He won't be caught off guard again.*

[ When her device starts beeping, her relief is palpable, allowing her a moment to look over her shoulder and watch with as much interest as Kotemon. Granted her Digimon companion observes with a measure of frustration by comparison. ]

Lady Roze, I want to join the combat!

K-Man. No. I'm sorry, I feel ya, but no. Those two are workin' that guy over, and you know what? There's a certain kind of respect you gotta have in a fight, for other people. You don't break into a fight that other people are havin' unless you're asked. Its dishonorable.

You only rush in when someone needs help, you hear me? Otherwise you'll just be underfoot.

[ The Digimon looks up at her, upset but accepting and nods once, returning his gaze to the fight, as does Roze. ]

[Eternal Nirvana doesn't quite work on Myotismon how it usually does. It's like the Digimon is caught between a trance and an itching inside its head. Either way, it lets out a deathly shriek and is caught in place, giving BlackWargreymon enough time to fly back...

...and charge up a Terra Destroyer. The large fireball attack now only leaves a small crater at its pace of impact, but little more than a burning corpse, slowly reforming.

It's slow enough that it looks like they should have enough time to collect the data.]

How peculiar...that's not at all what that attack is supposed to do.

*Wisemon wanders forward to investigate...then passes out next to the corpse. He glows and shrinks, turning into a sleeping Nyaromon.*

We seem to be safe, for the time being.

Is your dude gonna be alright? [ Roze asks, looking over at Jin before turning her attention to the device, shaking it slightly. Not that it would make it work any faster, but she, like most kids her age, didn't tend to have a lot of patience for slow electronics. ]

Lady Roze...

Yeah yeah, go on. But don't cause any trouble!

[ Kotemon bows then hurries over to stand near the passed out Nyaromon, weapon at the ready and eyes on the fallen Myotismon's re-configuring remains, himself ready to drag the digimon to safety if the need arose. ]

Sorry about that... [ Roze remarks to Jin, shrugging slightly. ] He and I are total opposites everywhere but fighting. We're competitive as hell, and we don't like leaving people exposed when we could spend our time helpin'. He's a little more gung-ho on the whole people-savin' thing. I'm tryin' to teach him some rules but...you know kids. [ She grins, all teeth, completely ignoring being a kid herself. Even if she is a behemoth. ]

*Nyaromon is fast asleep and snoring lightly with some lingering damage from Myotismon's attack, but he's more or less okay.*

He should be. Digimon ordinarily convert to eggs when they're killed, so I suspect he's simply exhausted from evolving under such stressful circumstances. I'm sure he'll be back to Veemon tomorrow.

But I am grateful to your partner for retrieving him. It would have been problematic if that digimon had woken up while he was still there. And you yourself gave some sound advice.

Really? Sometimes I just feel like I'm spinning my tires, y'know? You never really know if you're giving good advice or not. Its sound advice in your head, and you might have lived it yourself, but not everything is good for everyone all the time. There's no universally proper way of doin' shit.

Eh.

But thanks for sayin'. K-man can handle things over there as long as it doesn't get crazy. We're just...both kind of itchin' for a fight. Just because I want to fight doesn't mean I'm stupid enough to let him off and get himself turned into pudding. Anyways, I'm sure there's gonna be plenty of opportunities for him to get himself hurt and me not be able to argue.

I find it's generally best to honor someone's pride unless they're refusing help they genuinely need. But I do understand the sentiment of being disappointed about being sidelined...it's not a pleasant feeling for a warrior to be told he or she must allow someone else to fight for them.

Yeah, tch, no kiddin' man. I've had a couple tussles here but nothin' particularly to make up for being made second-string to a Pokemon. Half the time I feel like I'm a little kid people keep tellin "don't touch that! No no no! Hands off" and the other half of the time I feel like a retired dog-fighter who goes to watch the fights but ain't allowed to participate.

I know K-man hates it as much as I do, just from a different point of view. He doesn't concern himself too much about my being irritated. He thinks he should be able to run headlong into whatever happens to be goin' on. He's lucky we're gettin' paid for this or I wouldn'ta gone, honestly.

No point goin' somewhere neither of us serve much purpose. Neither one of us are much for watchin' instead of doin'.
