Sing it out...
Who: Marley Rose (
wall_flower) and YOU
What: It's time for a Karaoke Partywith a hidden motive.
When: 8.28.13
Where: Karaoke Bar (or whatever it's called)
Marley had finally made up her mind. She was finally going to tell Donatello how she felt about him (despite that little hiccup at the beginning of the week), but she knew she would just fumble over her words if she just...tried to tell him outright. That was why she called for the karaoke party, after all. She had learned in the Glee Club that if you had a hard time getting your feelings out any other way, then sing them. It had always worked before, so why should now be any different?
The karaoke bar seemed like the perfect place for her actually getting how she felt out in the open. However, she couldn't let Donnie get suspicious of her plans. What better way to hide her scheme than by making it a party for everyone?! No one else knew what she was doing (except for Hawkmon, of course), and it just made things even easier to hide from Donatello. Really, everyone seemed on board with the idea, so why not?!
She and Hawkmon had made sure there would be plenty of food (pizza, specifically, but all kinds of other things as well), and drinks most definitely! The Damemon were fantastic in how much and how fast they had managed to put everything together, and it just made Marley even more excited about having everyone together. But the closer the time came for everyone to arrive, the more nervous she became. All the what if's and maybes floated around in her mind as she went over everything again and again and again. Things didn't have to be perfect, but she didn't need a disaster to happen.
As the first few people began to appear, Marley somehow managed to settle her nerves enough to pass at being just happy to see people show up. How long it'd last during the night, well...only time would tell...
[OOC: This is a mingle log! Feel free to tag around, hijack threads, and just have a blast!]

KARAOKE
no subject
It's a karaoke party, for crying out loud! What good is a karaoke party if nobody sings? So Maya tugs on Cam's sleeve.]
Come on. Let's go sing.
no subject
[Campbell so-does-not-want-to-be-here Saunders protests.]
Wh-what? Maya, no. No, no, I came but you didn't say I had to sing. ...Again.
no subject
[Maya grabs Cam and drags him toward the stage. Clearly Cam didn't learn anything from the last time this happened. Besides, Maya has the perfect song picked out. She's been thinking about this since his memory leaked, and she's pretty sure that either this will go swimmingly or it'll backfire completely.
Either way, it's worth it if Cam knows how she feels about him. She doesn't want Zig or anyone else but him.]

He hopes Maya starts singing first. It's not like he can try and bribe her with homework this time.
Not like it even worked last time.](no subject)

Re: KARAOKE
[Clearly it is time to sing, right? And the opening few notes of the song should be enough to let anyone know what's coming.]
Just a small town girl
Living in a lonely world
She took the midnight train going to somewhere
[Wait what? I mean he's not tone deaf or anything but. That's a bit off.]
Just a city boy
Born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train going to somewhere
[Maybe he just doesn't really know the words.]
A singer in a smoky room
He smelled of wine and some perfume
For a time they can share the night
It goes on and on and never ends
[Okay so clearly he doesn't quite know all the words, but that's to be expected right? Perhaps slightly more unexpected is the static on the screens all around, which fade away to show an otherworldly battlefield, and three humans (Ed included) facing a huge, armored being. It's fairly obvious that this is a fight, and from the look of things Ed hasn't been lying about knowing magic. He's throwing around massive numbers of tiny elemental bullets, all of which are getting blocked by the being's own elemental shields. Out of some deep respect for Journey (even misheard Journey), somehow it syncs up.]
Strangers prancing
Up and down the boulevard
Shadows searching in the night
Streetlights, people
Heaven is divine emotion
Hiding somewhere
In the niiiiiiiiiight
[Meanwhile, the fighting in the picture has developed. One of his allies has dead eyes and a red crystal pulsing in his chest. The two are fighting in a world made up of windmill blades suspended in midair, and Ed's barrage of incredibly shiny and powerful-looking elemental magics are being countered by the boy's sword skills and wind techniques, right up until the point where Ed manages to shoot the crystal with a gun that fired compressed magical power in a beam.]
Working hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Playing anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win
Some will lose
Some are born to sing boo hoos
Oh the movie never ends it
goes on and on and never stops
[The fighting seems to have returned to the previous 3-on-1, but the armored man is able to still easily hold his own. The gloves are coming off though, with both sides flinging powers and capabilities that are quite obviously beyond what anyone this side of a shonen manga would be capable of. Still in tune.]
Strangers prancing
Up and down the boulevard
Shadows searching in the night
Streetlights, people
Heaven is divine emotion
Hiding somewhere
In the niiiiiiiiiight
[As the guitar solo takes effect, Ed's face shows that he's taking things very seriously. He holds a hand over his heart and is surrounded by colored kanji--those familiar with them would know they are for/related to six different elements: 'Light,' 'Dark,' 'Earth,' 'Fire,' 'Wind,' and 'Water.' Then, his hand flings forward and they merge over him, the six of them merging into a final kanji which roughly translates to 'god-dragon.' He yells something, but it's questionable what it was.]
Don't stop believing
Hold on to that feeling
Streetlight, people, ooooh!
[Whatever he's done, it's incredibly effective. The attacks from the armored man which were completely negating his before suddenly were doing nothing, breaking up into motes of energy and being absorbed into him. He disappears completely and reappears a ways away, a line following his trail through the armored man. Explosions rip along it and obliterate a good portion of the arena, leaving the mystery warrior reeling. He pauses to say something to his friends, and with a thumbs up puts his hand on the enemy's forehead and releases a massive explosion of energy. When it clears, neither of them are still there.]
Don't stop believing
Hold on!
Streetlight, people, ooooooh!
[For what it's worth, it doesn't look like he's noticed anything.]

Elsewhere, Hawkmon is just staring at the screen and shaking his head. That's one hell of a music video.]

Re: KARAOKE
But somehow, Kamemon ahd talked Donnie into singing. It was something along the lines of 'loosening up in order to confess to Marley' or 'singing your feelings out will make it easier'. And since the first confession attempt failed, Donnie agreed just to get his partner to shut up. He didn't even know what song he was doing, Kamemon was picking but he said that he'd know it when he heard it.
So now he was on the stage, just looking around nervously and wanting to just sneak into the shadows and make a run for it. But before he could do that, the music started. He did recognize it, and the words were going to start in a few seconds. Looks like he had no choice.
With a shaky breath, he started.]
Staring out at the rain with a heavy heart
It's the end of the world in my mind
Then your voice pulls me back like a wake up call
I've been looking for the answer
Somewhere
I couldn't see that it was right there
But now I know what I didn't know
[He started quiet, soft, shaky. He was nervous, his eyes closed so that he didn't have to see anyone starting. But as he got to the halfway point of the verse, he thought back. Back tot he Dark Field, when his whole world jsut crashed and burned. But something had saved him from falling completely, and he hadn't realized it until a short time ago.]
Because you live and breathe
Because you make me believe in myself when nobody else can help
Because you live, girl
My world has twice as many stars in the sky
[Marley had been his saving grace. If she hadn't come to his room that night, he wasn't sure if he'd have pulled through like he did. Even when she herself was broken, she came to him, to help him and she seeked his help. His voice got less shaky and a little bolder, nut still pretty soft.
It's alright, I survived, I'm alive again
Cuz of you, made it through every storm
What is life, what's the use if you're killing time
I'm so glad I found an angel
Someone
Who was there when all my hopes fell
I wanna fly, looking in your eyes
[Now his voice was at a normal singing level, the shakiness mostly gone now. Kammeon really knew how to pick a song, he had to mentally admit. The words reflected exactly how he felt.]
Because you live and breathe
Because you make me believe in myself when nobody else can help
Because you live, girl
My world has twice as many stars in the sky
Because you live, I live
Because you live there's a reason why
I carry on when I lose the fight
I want to give what you've given me always
[His eyes were open now, a thoughtful look within them. He was thinking through it all over again, about that night in his room. That had been it, that had been when he fell in love with Marley. She had understood him, she had comforted him, she had opened up to him. She was the reaosn that he was able to get strong enough to go on despite his mindset at the time. He lvoed her, and he wanted to give her the same feeling of love and comfort that she had given him, rejection or not.]
Because you live and breathe
Because you make me believe in myself when nobody else can help
Because you live, girl
My world has twice as many stars in the sky
Because you live and breathe
Because you make me believe in myself when nobody else can help
Because you live, girl
My world has everything I need to survive
[That last line was true, he did. He knew his family were alive, but he was still alone here without them. he still liked April, but he could never be with her and as Raph told him, he never had a chance. And he didn't have a chance with an equally amazing girl, but at least she was actually here for him. He truly did have everything he needed to survive.]
Because you live, I live, I live
MEET AND GREET

But he was also incredibly nervous, evident by him just opening the door a bit and staring into the karaoke bar. He was sweating and trembling slightly as the realization that this was finally going to happen started to sink in. Maybe now wasn't a good time. If he walked out now, then-]
Will you quit standing there and go in already?! [Cue one Kamemon pushing one Donnie inside.]
Oof! [He stayed on is feet, and he was now inside. He glared at the smug-lookign turtle briefly before wondering what he was supposed ot do now.]
no subject
Until she turns around a little too close to the door, and manages to run smack into the turtle-turned-human just as he's being shoved inside.]
Ah! Donnie, I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to run into you! A-Are you okay?
no subject
He still smiled, albiet nervously. He should try to talk now.]
M-Marly, ugh hi. Umm yeah I'm fine, I ugh... didn't see you there. I didn't hurt you kr anything did I? Lh man, I am so sorry!
no subject
I'm fine, I'm fine. Really, I'm not hurt. Just a little shocked. I mean, there's that whole saying "fancy running into you here," but I don't think they meant LITERALLY running into someone when they came up with it.
[Nervous rambling...it's a go.]

[However, there is something different today! And that something is he's bringing Fluttershy in along with him, and the two of them are holding hands. SCANDALOUS! Not that he seems to mind much, what with there being people all around. After all, everyone is having fun and as everyone is having fun everything is fine!]

But she feels better if she's around someone, so she holds on to Ed for comfort.]

So... any ideas for a song you want to sing? I uh... don't know much music so I'll just try to follow your lead.

Alright ladies and gents, line up cause the party has arrived!
Impmon....keep quiet...
You're over six feet, you're hard to hide!
no subject
Hey there, you two. I'm glad you decided to show up! There's tons of pizza over on the table, and I was just thinking about getting up and singing something.
[Yes, further bribes to keep Leatherhead here. The guy needed to get out more.]
PIZZA, FOOD, AND DRINKS
THE MAIN EVENT!
But she knew she couldn't put off the reason for this shindig any longer. If she was going to get her feelings out there, she had to do it now or else she wouldn't get this chance again.
She took the stage with a nervous sigh, chose the song, and as the opening chords for Colby Caillat's "Bubbly" began to play, she sought out Donatello in the crowd. Her eyes stayed focused on his own throughout the entire performance. She had to pour everything she felt for him into this song just to make sure he knew...
The song went off without a hitch, and just as the last strum of the guitar played, something finally went wrong:
APPEARING ON THE D-TERMINALS OF EVERYONE GATHERED, A MEMORY IS DISPLAYED! It's one of Donnie and Marley, each of them covered in bandages. They appear to be talking and cuddling together until they both manage to fall asleep holding each other.]
Re: THE MAIN EVENT!
This had been such a bad idea.
Then as he brought the cup near his lips, he heard a familiar singing voice. He turned tot he stage, and his brown eyes met with the eyes of Marley Rose. As he listened, he couldn't turn his gaze away. It felt like the song, her performance was... directed at him. His cheeks were turning pink and hope was rising.
Did she...? Was it possible...? Could it really be true that...?
And then he heard static, which broke him out of the trance. Kamemon held up the D-Terminal, a knowing smile on his face. The former turtle grabbed it, and his eyes widened. He instantly recognized what was playing. That had been the moment where his feelings started to develop. That had been the moment where Marley had lightened up his then-dark world, made him feel whole after that disaster of a night.
And as the clip stopped, both the cup and the D-Termianl fell to the ground. And the one who dropped them walked closer to the stage, stopping right in front of he. He looked up at Marley, hope shining in the brown irises.]
M-Marley... I-I...
no subject
She hopped down, tucking her hair behind her ear before she spoke, her face a bright pink.]
Donnie, I'm sorry, I didn't know how else to tell you, but I like you, like really like you and I-I know you like April and everything, and then there's Jake, but he's not here and I just--I had to tell you because I'd hate myself if you went home again and didn't come back and I never got to tell you and if you don't feel the same way that's fine, but I--Uh...I just needed to...and this was the only way I knew I could do it...
[Yes, that was an entire nervous rambling with very few pauses. She really hoped that Donnie caught all of that...]
no subject
At the instant that Marley finishes speaking, his hand grips her shoulder. It was a firm, but gentle grip. A small smile formed on his face as he looked into the girl's eyes once again.]
Marley... all night, I've been meaning to tell you something. I was afraid to say ti for a long time, but... now I think I can finally do it.
[One more small deep breath. His cheeks were red, but for once he didn't care]
Marley, I... I like you too
