[OOC: Please, only one mission per Chosen so that others have a chance to take part as well! There is only one Dark Field Eliminator, and the groups will receive it. Do not break it. This will act as a mingle log. The missions are simple, so this is really an opportunity for you to log out CR if you'd like it. There really is no sign up for these. We just request that you do not go over the max number of participants, but you can certainly have under the number if everyone is alright with that. Remember, some of these will be taking place during the weather event, so if there's a day you want your character to be in the city for and it's a far away area, plan accordingly! Enjoy!]

[He just continued walking while waiting for the others to catch up. It looks like Neku caught up to him though. Maybe he should slow up his walking. ]

'm fine.

( You know, as fine as you can be with a splitting headache, your rival purposely making you mad and feeling like your heart is going to explode. )

[ Impmon hops up and dashes ahead so he's in everyone's view, shouting at the top of his voice as he waves his arms: ]

Come on, everyone! Let's turn those frowns upside down! I want everyone's face to match the smiley face on my torso!

[ Seifer groans audibly. ]

You're an embarrassment to Digimon everywhere, I swear.

I said smile!!

[ Roze smiled in spite of her mood, eyes rolling as she paced forward a bit and thumped Seifer with her shoulder, leaning against him slightly before weaving away. ]

You heard him, frowns upside down, Princess. Don't be so mean. The silly little bastard is right. We're a collection of ugly storm clouds right now. Fuck it. I'm not gonna let myself be a drag all day.

You shouldn't either! [ She grinned, hand snake-striking his side and grabbing above his hip in a vague tickling gesture. ]

We're supposed to be doin' heroic shit, so we gotta look the part!

[ Being quiet and glum wasn't improving anything so screw it. Squall could mope enough for three people. ]

[Neku narrows his eyes at Squall, not quite believing him. That slight wince around the eyes said a lot, and then with a flash of intuition he dug through his bag, holding up a water bottle to him.]

If you're hung over you need to hydrate.

[He turns back, snorting and rolling his eyes playfully at Roze and Impmon]

This isn't exactly heroic.

Whatever...

[ He takes the waterbottle though and uncaps it slowly so he can drink. His hangover was gone for the most part, but he was still tired and a certain Rival gave him a headache.

Oddly enough after hearing Impmon and Roze try and cheer up, it made him feel a little less tense.]

[ Seifer stiffens considerably to hide the fact that that actually tickled a bit, since it's not exactly a desirable trait in soldiers. Impmon, while not appreciating being called "silly little bastard," takes it in stride anyway. ]

It is heroic. Sure, this place might be chock full of people wantin' to do it, but it's still potentially dangerous; we're headed for the Dark Field nearby, after all.

[ He twirls the Eliminator in his hands, his sour expression still hanging around. He'd already given Squall water before the hangover even kicked in. What a dumbass that he couldn't drink a few more bottles to stave it off. ]

See? Bossman Leader says its heroic, its fuckin' heroic. There's a bunch of little Biddy-Digi's outt here with a Dark Field loomin' nearby. They're probably scared and miserable all the time and this is important. If we can get rid of a Dark Field, that's a pretty big fuckin' deal. You naysayers can stuff it.

[ She sniffed, arching an imperious brow and nodding to Seifer as she walked along. When Kotemon quickened his pace to shuffle alongside her and reached for her hand, she didn't think anything of it, holding his reflexively.

Little glowing eyes squinted in warning at Seifer, though for what was the blonde's guess. He looked jealous. ]

Okay, point.

And knowing how baby Digimon like to run around I wouldn't be surprised if a few have fallen into one. Just please, *please* no one decide walking into one is a good idea? Okay?

...They need the most protection out of anyone here.

[ He glances back at them with a raised eyebrow. ]

Keep that up and Seifer might want to marry you.

[ He rolled his eyes and continued looking forward now. He just wanted to protect the baby digimon and go back home. He didn't ask for all of this socializing and bickering. ]

[ If he weren't holding the Eliminator, he would have aimed a punch right at Squall's head. Luckily, even Seifer has enough maturity to know that not being careful with the device would endanger them. So, he reigns in his temper, choosing to ignore Squall's comment in order to focus on Neku's. Better that than trying to figure out Kotemon was thinking. ]

But we have this thing. If things turn sour, we can just turn it on and it'll dissipate, right? It ain't like havin' a peek is going to set off missiles. We should have a plan B anyway. Y'know, in case this thing doesn't actually work.

Nah. I'm not really marryin' material...[ She mumbled, unable to hide the color in her cheeks as she looked away and pretended the sky was particularly interesting. Kotemon only looked at Seifer with even deeper scrutiny.

Roze puckered her lips, making bubble popping sounds for a minute before arching a brow and turning with interest to Seifer's words. ]

Huh. I didn't even think about that. I mean the kid seemed pretty fuckin' sure it would work, but if it doesn't, what then? I know I ain't got any kinda skill with the gizmos around here. I'm lucky I can figure my terminal most mornings. And when if there's something out there causin' trouble right now?

You think we should come up with some kinda game-plan? [ She asked Seifer, deferring to him because Squall seemed so unbearably anti-social she was beginning to think addressing him directly might make him snap like a dry rubber-band. ]

Well, if the gizmo destroys data, I wouldn't wanna accidentally kill any babies who might be in there even if it DOES work.

[he ponders]

I know Kudamon hasn't evolved, and I think Kotemon can reach Champion, right? What about Impmon?

Just because he can't digivolve doesn't mean he isn't strong.

[ Squall's buttons are being pressed all over the place here. Normally little comments like that didn't bother him, but now he was feeling like he was a burden on this mission and that really got to him. ]

Squall....

Don't you worry about Impmon. And goddamn, Squall. No one said anything about bein' strong or weak so stop getting defensive.

[ Seifer shrugged his shoulders. His tone of voice made it clear Impmon couldn't digivolve, but the imp waved his arms around. ]

I can digivolve! Just you wait! When danger comes, I'll protect you all!

Tch. More like you'll run away with your tail between your legs. Anyway, we should at least pop our heads in to see the situation. Just one of us'll do; that person can relay the information back to the others. If it's clear, we switch the thing on. If there's digimon trapped in there who aren't psychotic, we drag 'em out and then turn it on.

[ Roze had been opening her mouth to snap a response at Squall that would have been significantly less reasonable than what Seifer said but she dropped it in favor of letting the blonde take the card. She was fine by that. Better than dealing with more moping. ]

Uh. well, I can do it? I mean I volunteer. Musashi and I ain't really had a lot to do lately, and since he has evolved we've been wantin' to work out a bit more. [ She shrugged, bumping the Kotemon gently, who nodded in agreement. ]

Your call, though. [ Roze added, looking to Seifer and shrugging dismissively. ]

[When Squall responded to him, Neku's eyes widened in surprised hurt, then slitted down to razor edges.]

You KNOW that's not what I meant. Kudamon isn't the problem.

[Even after the world's most traumatizing crash course in character development and becoming an actual decent human being, Neku wasn't always the most tactful with his words. And with a snarl stomped off ahead a bit. Let them figure out a plan. He had Terri and his crest, if it came to that]

[ Those words stuck to him like a knife through the chest. 'Kudamon isn't the problem...' So he still was the problem. No matter what he did he was still the only one to be blamed. Fine. That was fine.

His hands clenched up into tight fists and his eyes narrowed almost looking a bit fiery. If he were anymore cat like the hair on his neck would be bristling. Fine. FINE

Kudamon could feel how angry and tense was getting and frowned as he tried to pat his arm gently. He didn't want his partner to act irrationally or anything. ]

( Whatever. )

What are your orders then, Seifer?

My orders, Mr. SeeD, are for you to get your act together. We all know you care about the eggs and newly hatched Digimon or whatever, but guess what? This is a mission; treat it like one. We can't afford to have someone get so emotional on the field. If you keep it up, you're gonna screw us all over and those precious Digimon you care so much about might get hurt or killed.

[ Seifer debates what, exactly, he wants to do. He'd be much happier sticking his head in there himself, but... deep down, he knew it wasn't a responsible thing to do. Impmon couldn't digivolve and he knows his gunblade wouldn't actually do anything. It pains him, but he has to take this seriously. ]

Roze'll do it. The three of us will wait outside. She gives us a thumbs up sign and we turn it on. If she gets pulled in or there's trouble inside, we head on in, take care of it and then get rid of the Dark Field. Everyone in agreement?

Yessir, Captain!

I meant them.

[ Tension, Squall art thy name. She'd seen him bitter and battered and blue and everything in between but right now he looked like a lemon that just got its first taste of lemon. He could have turned inside out.

Maybe...

MAYBE this wasn't a good time to be poking and prodding, right?

Yeah Roze has some sense. Small though it may be. So she licks her lips, nods and lets Musashi's hand go to tuck both her hands into her pockets, chest rising and falling with a long, deep sigh. ]

In and out, boss. You got it.

[Neku makes a grunt of agreement, lifting his crest slightly off his neck so Seifer can see it. A silent acknowledgement that if things get hairy enough they have an Ultimate too. He doesn't trust himself to talk right now]

[ He nodded his head to Seifer's comment, still looking rather furious. He'll just go along with the plan. He'll do whatever he's told, and when all of this is over he'll leave and blow off some steam. This is exactly why he was telling people it was easier not to grow attached. Now his feelings are ruining his concentration and even Seifer is questioning him.

He shoved his hands into his pockets and waits for Seifer and Roze to walk ahead of him so he can walk behind and keep himself at a distance. ]

Understood.

[ That Crest didn't mean much to him. Seifer got the message, but he didn't have much faith in it. He had a crest, too, but his Digimon couldn't even digivolve once. So he walks along, keeping silent with his gaze locked onto Squall. What is wrong with him today? He knows he had a hangover from Dante's party earlier, but even during their SeeD exam things between them weren't quite so... tense. Seifer liked him better when he was tired and drunk; he was more sociable and less irritating.

Eventually, he glances at Roze as if expecting her to lighten the mood. He wouldn't mind if they just finished the mission in silence and went their separate ways, but still... ]

[ Humming idly, Roze was ignoring everything for the moment, looking around blandly until she just happened to catch Seifer's look. An owlish blink was his response before she coughed, pasted on a big smile and threw her arms in the air, striding ahead of him and elbowing Squall lightly. ]

Hey hey people! Just think! We'll get to be heroes to all the newest generations of Digimon, right? And when the days go on, even when they get other partners they'll still always remember the four guys that came in and got rid of the big bad, right?

No reason to be so stiff and glum. If we're luck-- [ She bit her cheek, flared her nostrils and skipped a bit. ] --fortunate, this'll be an easy in and out job, right? No need for a show of force!

[ She broadened her stride enough to catch up with Neku after that, plucking at his hair lightly. ]

Just show up, push the button, save the day! Recipe for instant hero, right? Roze chimed, smiling that dazzling, fierce smile as she walked backwards, facing everyone with her hands folded behind her back, attention on the others and nothing else. ]

[Neku sighed, his anger slowly fading without any continued argument from Squall. He didn't WANT to fight, after all. But Squall's mood was rubbing off on him, and Neku's first instinct was forever to bristle and push. Other people just cause trouble- he knew that wasn't really true. But old habits die hard]

You're right. We probably won't have to fight at all.

[He glanced back at Squall, but didn't quite have the courage to try and apologize. He was still *mad* damn it]

( You all can take the glory. I don't care. I just want them to be safe. )

[ He just stared forward not looking at anyone in particular. He was going to prove he wasn't going to be a burden on the team. He was going to show them that him and his emotional level wouldn't screw things up. If he had to follow orders to an exact description he would.

He was done talking now. Anything he said now would come out as bitter and sassy and then Seifer would kick him out of the group. ]

Roze, you're right! We'll keep them all safe and they'll be well protected for when their own partners come!
