You've confirmed that the rules you've come to know don't apply here. That's not the same as confirming that there's no magic. After all, there's something that can cause Digimon to change forms and what they use is a form of magic, isn't it?

Well... The rules I know, alongside the rules of any other mage that I've met. So a lot of rules.

There's still paranormal stuff going on here, but it's all related to the Digimon, Digivices, Crests, and stuff like that. Right now, I can tell that it involves a transfer and occasionally magnification of energy, but I don't know for sure if it's necessarily magic or just really advanced science. Technically, we're all just data, right?

All right, so how do you figure out the magical abilities the Digimon use? Conjuring forth water and fire--there's no way that's technology unless they're manipulating the data and turning it into something we see.

In which case it's our eyes that are betraying us.

Oh, I should scan Digimon abilities someday. I need to note that, hold on.

That's.... a really good point. Maybe their magic is just manipulating data. In that case, it might be possible to copy it if we knew how.

Orrrr it could just be an illusion. [ Tapping her chin. ]

You know like magician's and their magic tricks? Something like that.

They're definitely not magic tricks. At least not like stage magicians do. It's definitely more like my kind of magic. [Nodnod]

What were you doin... no, now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I want to know why you ran into a Digimon's attack.

A digimon attacked me with a hallucination field.

Alex had her digimon hit me with an attack to knock me out of it. A weak one.

Definitely not illusions.

And you just kind of took it?

[ So whipped by all the girls. ]

Well... I wasn't in any condition to dodge.

I was hallucinating paradise and had no clue where I actually was.

I've heard about this before... About a Digimon that can do those kind of things.

Yeah, it was while we were fighting Lotusmon.

I, I don't like the fact we can be caught off-guard so simply by a Digimon's ability. It seems unfair.

A lot of the abilities of the stronger digimon are really unfair.

The only thing we can really do about it is to study them, learn what they can do, and then come up with ways around it.

Or we make our Digimon as strong.

They can go beyond Champion as well.

I know... Kyubimon can go all the way to ultimate.

But for that... you need a crest. And you need to be able to use it.

Guh... Always with those crests, huh? I wonder what they really are about.

I know they reflect our best attributes... like Tenacity, for me. It's how I never actually give up.

--Huh, that does make a lot of sense for you.

I'm not sure if I'll ever get a crest. It'd be hard to have one that goes with... anything I say or do to be honest!

I dunno... I can think of a few crests that would fit you. Like knowledge. You're really smart.

[ No point in telling him that she's NOT SMART at all. ]

Haa--I'd want something better than knowledge. Something like courage!

Mmn... maybe. I mean, you did use all those trains before, and that takes guts.

Haa, they really hate me now I think.
