[His instinct to run towards the light proved disastrous--Ed knew the scene even without looking at it.
A metallic island, in ruins. Two balls of raw energy colliding into each other. On the left was him. On the right was a red-haired girl who looked even younger than he did--his sister, Lila. Hate shone in her eyes, mirrored by anger in his own. The figures he saw spoke--it made no noise, but he could still tell what they were saying by their lip movements.
"You really think that a shrimp like you can protect anyone?"
"Shut up!" He saw himself yell, the flames around him glowing brighter than hers. He stabbed at her with his staff, and the sharpened point of it sucked in her magic and pierced her chest. In an instant she was on the ground, and he was standing over her. "I promised everyone I'd stop you... and even if it hurts, I'm going to stop you!"
"Stop me? You think you can stop me?" she asked, opening her mouth and launching in to what was probably one of her wild, insane laughs. He saw a grenade build itself from scratch in her hand. The 'him' in the image missed it, focused on staring her right in the eye. Her lips moved again. "You're still a dumbass. Always will be. You might kill me... but you'll never stop me. I never lose. See you in hell, bro~"
She shoved the grenade into her mouth, and pulled the pin. Before he could react it exploded--and with it her head suddenly stopped existing.
'He' had been blown back by the explosion, and could only watch what happened next. A brilliant green light on her stomach shone forth, lifting her into the air. The seal was trying to move on, but it was incomplete. It couldn't. He reached out a hand to try and take it in... the hand left him. His arm was torn off soon after, and 'Ed' was forced to retreat... but there wasn't anywhere to run. The swirling green force coalesced into a single point and then burst outward in a massive shockwave that destroyed everything it touched. He saw it sweep over the him in the image, and wipe him out... along with the rest of the island, what remained of Lila's body, the ocean itself, even the air.
Then the energy swept over the real him. Crying out he grabbed at his left shoulder. The image... it had scratched him?]
Ghh...! [No. Nonono. It was just an image. He repeated it to himself over and over again. It wasn't real. It wouldn't happen that way! There was no way he'd let them down!
The stinging refused to subside, but... 'Taichi. He probably saw something like this too.'
He was there to help Taichi. He was there to find out what was going on. This orb was no help... He forced himself to move onward, still holding his stinging shoulder and forcing down his fear.]
It won't happen like that... It won't happen like that..!
