Day of the Platypus
Who: Perry the actual Platypus & OPEN
What: Did you ever want to meet a Platypus? Now is your chance.
Where: Around HospiTown
When: January 28, Any time just let me know.
Perry didn't realize how used to being taller he had gotten until he woke up that morning and Gertrude had towered over him and Bartholomew had been his size. At first he thought it was his digimon suddenly becoming bigger. But he had quickly noticed the teal fur and he could feel the familiar weight of his tail at his back.
He was a platypus again. A platypus wearing a fedora mind you, but a platypus none-the-less.
Not to be perturbed by such changes, he only marveled over the sensation for a few minutes in the privacy of his own room before heading out to see if he was the only one effected. After all, there was really no point hiding in his room like this. If his secret hadn't be exposed before it would certainly be now.
His partners, for their part, couldn't help but marvel at their Chosen's new form. Oh sure, it was one thing for Perry to draw them pictures and write them stories about his exploits back home. It was another point entirely to actually SEE a platypus. Honestly, if they hadn't known better, they would have thought the little greenish-blue creature with a waffle-like tail and duck-bill was a new kind of Digimon they had not hitherto seen. Needless to say, Perry had spent the morning in his room letting Gertrude and Bartholomew get "used" to his form before heading out.
What would everyone else think of the platypus in a fedora walking with a pair of Digimon in similar hats? He was about to find out...

Luckily being sent home had helped, so the transition from feet to sudden hooves hadn't been too bad. But she was also getting used to the height change; while she was still about the same size as when she was human, being on four legs had her much lower, and so she had to get used to how different things looked.
It was during this walk that she spotted the platypus. And while in the back of her mind she knew who it was...she couldn't help an excited gasp as she ran over to get a better look at him.
"Oh wow...! I can't believe it...!"
Sorry, she's just so excited.

Right, it was fine.
Perry relaxes and covers the motion by tipping his hat instead. He should have known Fluttershy would be excited by his appearance, being the animal lover that she was. His head tilts slightly as if to question what she doesn't believe about it though.

She crouches down so she's a little more eye level with him...honestly it's not often that she's bigger than someone else, especially now.
"Oh, this is even better than I ever dreamed...! Do you...Do you make that sound...?"
You know the one.

As for her question, Perry only responds by making the chittering noise that in most instances could make ladies swoon
at least according to his own theme song.It was difficult to tell if it would work on ponies.no subject
"Oh my gosh...! That's so cute!"
She can't help trotting around him in her excitement.
Meanwhile, her Digimon just can't help staring at Perry. "And I thought her description of a cockatrice was weird..." Sprout couldn't help mumbling.

Perry takes no offense to Sprout's comment. Gertrude frowns a bit though, "What's a cockatrice?" She's not sure if she should be insulted for Perry or not.
no subject
Choco and Sprout can't help snickering a little. "Still sounds funny-looking..."
"Well, it may sound funny, but a cockatrice can actually be quite dangerous. They're pretty mean, and one would have no problem turning you to stone if you were unfortunate enough to come across one. At least with platypi, there only thing you'd really have to worry about are the venomous spurs on the hind legs of the males, and that's only if they think you're a threat..."
She pauses, then glances at Perry. "...Right?" She's heard about them, but since this is the first time she's ever met a platypus, she's not entirely sure herself.

However at Fluttershy's question he holds up his right leg and shows the aforementioned spur. He actually doesn't use it as often as you might think given his job, but he IS in a rather kid-friendly environment so he doesn't need to go stabbing people with his spur or poisoning them to get the job done. Just not his style.

He lowers his foot again. As for male competition, he has other skills at hand without relying on the poison spur.
"I never realized you had that! You're more dangerous than I realized," Bartholomew replies, still eyeing the spur in wonder.

"I guess digimon are kinda the same. Sorry Perry," Bartholomew replies after some thought on the subject. He smiles sheepishly. Gertrude merely bobs her head, nodding her agreement to the sentiment.

She and Choco trade a knowing grin, a secret that seems to be among just the two of them, before they turn back to Fluttershy and Perry.
"Speaking of things in common, platypi come from eggs, right? That's supposed to be something really weird for some reason?"
no subject
Perry silently hopes that they stop there and not discuss more about platypus reproductive cycles because then this might get awkward.

The tone in her voice seems to signify the end of the conversation, at least to Choco and Sprout, so they simply drop the subject.

"Oho man, no way! A platypus!!"
He knows that's got to be a Chosen, especially with the accompanying digimon, but it's hard to contain the creature fan in him as he hurries himself over with a wide grin on his face.
"Hah'I definitely was not expecting to see one of you guys here."
A Platypus-mon maybe, given certain digimon seem to be based off of Earth creatures, but not an actual Ornithorhynchus Anatinus. ...The unusual color aside.
no subject
If Perry could talk he'd probably make a joke about not seeing a platypus fan here, but alas platypi don't talk. So he makes do with a kind of wave and Bartholomew and Gertrude relax a bit.
"Wow Perry, I guess more people recognize you than you thought would." Bartholomew remarks.
"They're recognizing the animal form, not necessarily that's it's Perry," Gertrude adds.
Perry gave both his partners a look, thinking back to 30 minutes ago when Gertrude had been panicking and he and Bartholomew had both had to calm her down and explain the whole 'former platypus' think. Illustrations had been involved and it hadn't exactly been pleasant.
Gertrude seems to get his point and looks away, "Well I can hardly be blamed for not realizing what had happened. It's not as though you'd turned back into a platypus prior to this."
Perry rolls his eyes and returns to looking at the creature fan. Well, you found him, now what?
