The Digital World had been having a great deal of earthquakes the last six months. The first was the largest of them and had ended in the shifting of the planes. Since then earthquakes happened periodically, often sending new Chosen Children with it. At first it was Chosen that the Digital World knew and rejoiced, but now and then it would send new Chosen.

Today was different, however. The earthquake that rattled the Digital World felt almost as bad as the first, but there was a difference this time. Suddenly dozens of children were making their way to the Digital World. Destiny was calling and so were their partners...

Every chute in the Terminal Room activated while the small Digimon known as Culumon trembled with excitement. There were so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners had arrived!

It's pretty, isn't it? You should hear her last name too, it rhymes--

[But she is cut off rather swiftly by Kyouko clearing her throat]

. . . Hiccup? How did you come by a name like that one?

[It seems the detective's interests have been piqued enough for her to speak without being addressed first]

[Hiccup grimaces and waves Gomamon's claws away before looking back up, smiling weakly.]

Ahh well uh...I'm a viking back where I'm from. So it's sortof customary to give your kid a horrible name to scare the trolls and gnomes away.

How weird.

[. . . there's skepticism in her voice, but only for a moment before it fades. The guide did say something about multiple worlds, after all. It wasn't outside the realm of possibility for one of them to have vikings, however antiquated they were in her own timeline]

Hiccup isn't very frightening at all.

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III....yeah I guess it's not as bad as Snotlout or Fishlegs, but it's pretty up there.

[Hiccup doesn't notice the motion Gomamon makes behind his head, pretending to gag while pointing his claws into his mouth.]

It got the job done back home, anyway.

[Haddock-kun? ...Hiccup and Gomamon exchange a quick glance before Hiccup nods with a small smile.]

Well...thanks I guess. Either way it's uh...nice to meet you! I didn't expect to be meeting so many other people here.

[And apparently they all were like him, if Labramon's presence was any evidence of that.]

["Kyouko" felt a bit too personal, despite Labramon calling her by her given name]

There are quite a few. Upon arrival it is surprising, but when you take that into account with the information we've been given, it's understandable.

[Well Kirigiri was definitely more of a mouthful than Kyouko, but he'd call her whatever she wanted. It's not like he was forcing her to call HIM by his full name or anything.]

Right, Kirigiri. Well I just hope that whoever or...whatever brought us here knows what they're doing.

Based on everything I've read so far, it seems to be a "whatever."

The gates between this world and ours opened as a result of the worlds merging, and that's how we came here.

From Izumi-kun's explanation, an "Evil Digimon" is most likely the cause of this merging. So ultimately, that creature is responsible for us being here. [a beat] Even if us being here is only an unforeseen side effect of its actions.

Evil Digimon, huh?

[Well he could understand a bad seed being the root of all problems. Heck, a giant mother dragon had been the reason all of the dragons had been terrorizing Berk before.]

Well let's just hope that it can be stopped. ...but do you think that's what we're here for? ...They expect for us to be the ones to stop it?

It's only a hypothesis. But based on the contents of Izumi-kun's welcome message, it seems like the most obvious answer.

[Of course, she couldn't be certain, but the mention of Evil Digimon hadn't escaped her notice and had struck her as being quite suspicious]

[Hiccup nods sagely, but he doesn't look any less confused.]

[Hiccup follows suit and pushes Gomamon away from the screen with frown.]

[Not that Kyouko knew exactly how old Labramon was, but she could take a few educated guesses]

[Hiccup tugs on one of Gomamon's ears a little to make him hush, but is rewarded with a grumbled 'Ouch!' instead.]
