The Digital World had been having a great deal of earthquakes the last six months. The first was the largest of them and had ended in the shifting of the planes. Since then earthquakes happened periodically, often sending new Chosen Children with it. At first it was Chosen that the Digital World knew and rejoiced, but now and then it would send new Chosen.

Today was different, however. The earthquake that rattled the Digital World felt almost as bad as the first, but there was a difference this time. Suddenly dozens of children were making their way to the Digital World. Destiny was calling and so were their partners...

Every chute in the Terminal Room activated while the small Digimon known as Culumon trembled with excitement. There were so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners had arrived!

Outside Main Terminal

[Sitting outside the main terminal building, his back against the structure's wall, is a brown-haired boy currently a million miles away in thought, turning his Digivice over and over in his hand. Next to him is a silver, metal Digimon that resembles the unfortunate coupling of a beetle and a taser. He looks about as concerned as the boy looks totally out of it.]

Are you sure you're feeling well? Human biology isn't one of my areas of expertise, but I'm sure we could find someone-

[The boy cuts him off.] I'm fine, really.

[It's the fifth time he's said it, and it still sounds almost emotionless. Maybe it's because he's using every bit of his brain to try and understand this impossible situation, to process everything he's just been told. Or maybe he's just too emotionally exhausted to really give a damn any more. Either way, it's not helping to reassure Kokuwamon, who still looks over his partner with as much concern as two little red light eyes can muster.]

This just can't be happening. [Shinji mutters it again, another phrase he's repeated over and over during the ten minutes he's been sitting ni this spot.] But I guess it has to be. I can't wait here while I lie to myself.

[He finally stands, much to Kokuwamon's delight, but doesn't walk forward.]

So. Now what?

[He looks around, as if waiting for someone to prompt him to actually advance further.]

[Now? Shinji might have to duck when Hawkmon starts flying overhead, almost screeching as he tries to get Gar to stop running around and poking at digimon, or things. Also why he might just be there nearby to stare at Kokuwamon, wide-eyed and in awe.]

Is that a giant silver beetle? That is way cool.

[lastnerv]

[Shinji lets out a not remotely manly yep and ducks to avoid the bird, hands going up over his head. Kokuwamon seems rather unphased by it, probably because he's too busy getting a swelled ego from the compliment.]

Why yes, yes I am! It's so perceptive of you to notice, sir! You have very good taste.

[Shinji puts a hand on Kokuwamon's head.] And that's an interesting, uh. Bird you have.

Hawkmon. Under the species Accipitrinae, except he can walk and talk and--

I believe he's gotten the point. I'm sorry for nearly hitting you.

Right. Okay. Sooo, what's your name, mister? And who's your friend?

[lastnerv]

[Shinji isn't sure orders really apply any more, but this guy seems nice enough and he doesn't want to get the conversation off to a bad start.]

Oh. I'm Shinji, and the egomaniac here is Kokuwamon.

Rude.

[martianimalism]

Nice to meet you! [He grins at that, tail swishing behind him.]

I told you his name already, and I'm Beast Boy! So uh, any chance you know this place more than I do? Because I think I'm lost.

[lastnerv]

[Shinji cocks his head, going from neutral to confused in 0.5 seconds.]

Uh, no, I just...got here. [A beat.] Aren't you a Digimon too?

[martianimalism]

I wish. [Well, he just wants to be able to shapeshift again. This place is being horrible about that.] I'm human with a dabble of martian. I used to be able to shapeshift before I came here, you know.

[lastnerv]

[The confusion turns into an outright blank stare as the gears turn and Shinji attempts to wrap his mind around this.]

Martian.

[Yeah, he's going to be stuck on that.]

[martianimalism]

Yep. Awesome, huh?

I don't think he's very impressed.

Well, it's not it's such a big deal. I mean, Martians are the best.
