The Digital World had been having a great deal of earthquakes the last six months. The first was the largest of them and had ended in the shifting of the planes. Since then earthquakes happened periodically, often sending new Chosen Children with it. At first it was Chosen that the Digital World knew and rejoiced, but now and then it would send new Chosen.

Today was different, however. The earthquake that rattled the Digital World felt almost as bad as the first, but there was a difference this time. Suddenly dozens of children were making their way to the Digital World. Destiny was calling and so were their partners...

Every chute in the Terminal Room activated while the small Digimon known as Culumon trembled with excitement. There were so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners had arrived!

[Labramon gets a glance, and then he sighed, his hips cocking when he shifted weight to one foot; his fingertips briefly touched his forehead and then departed, accompanied by an eyeroll.]

So, besides talking ferrets, there's talking dogs too.

[This was muttered to himself before the Digimon had completely made it over, though the somewhat flat look didn't completely go away, even then. He waved, a simple arc of the hand, and then let the arm drop.]

Hello, Labramon.

[Though she didn't say anything, Kudamon did descend down the hanging arm of Once-ler's to get closer to Labramon, sniffing experimentally.]

[Labramon seems completely unoffended by the flat look and snarky commentary]

Ooooooh, you're another stick-in-the-mud. Like Kyouko!

[Labramon's nose twitches, before she nods her head in the direction of a white-haired teenager seated on a nearby bench. The girl was absorbed in her D-Terminal, though every so often she glanced up]

Stick in the-! [He bristles, giving the Digimon a sharp look.] I am no stick in the mud!

I simply have... priorities. Which right nnnow, consists of finding out what in the world's going on.

Of course I read it. I just happen to think it wasn't enough.

Oh. . . [Her ears droop]

[And Kyouko finally speaks]

It wasn't. But it was a good place to start.

[Oh good, the human speaks. Gives him something to look at besides a heartbroken animal.]

Yes, which is why I'm trying to find out more information now. [Then, as if an afterthought.] On Kudamon's advice. [The small Digimon dips her head in acknowledgement.]

You wouldn't happen to know anything else, would you?

I don't know any more than you do.

[She's a new arrival as well, after all]

But I've formed a few hypotheses.

And would you be inclined to share them?

I believe we may have been brought here to combat an Evil Digimon.

[It sounded strange even to her, but, well, it was all she had]

That would seem logical, yes... [Kudamon curled her tail, drumming a paw in thought.]

But I'd thought the message argued against that theory?

[genreawareness]

It did. But simply because Izumi-kun isn't aware of the Evil Digimon's presence doesn't mean there isn't one.

[A good detective considers all possibilities, after all]

I could be wrong. It is, after all, only a hypothesis. I have no evidence to back the theory up, and it'd be foolish of me to consider it a truth now.

You do make a good point. It's certainly something worth looking into, over the course of the stay.

It is, yes. I think that investigation should start outside the city walls, too.
