What: An open log to get acquainted. No posting order, super casual.

[And. A few hours after arrival, Joshua managed to make it to the apartment block thanks to the directions of his digimon. Who now was exhausted enough to have fallen asleep in his arms. He unlocked and pushed the door open, shutting it with one of his legs. And he looked around.

Not terrible. Kind of pokey, a little small, and the carpet was pretty dire. The most disconcerting thing was the fact he could see three rooms, none of which appearing to have locks on the doors. ....Irritating. Very much so. But it was a roof. That was all that could be expected, especially for free. Unceremoniously, he moved to the living area, curling upon the sofa almost instantly, allowing Viximon to sleep on his torso. And he moved his hands through his pockets, pulling out what he'd been given at the terminal. A digivice, a D unit, and of course his phone. Which still wasn't working. So he examined the interfaces on each carefully, fingers moving to scratch the little digimon behind the ears as he waited for other inhabitants, if they were going to turn up at all.]

Wha-? No, no I'm just visitin- Oh! What a cutie!

[Sorry Daichi, your partner is troting right in the room to go investigate Viximon happily, nosing the MUCH smaller digimon like a mother cat]

Oh, okay. You both have names, I assume?

[And Viximon happily jumps off the sofa and Joshua, newfound energy totally being used to ...half run, half bounce (since her legs are so stubby and not adequate at all) around Leormon.]

[Hibiki watches the digimon play, and looks expectantly at Floramon. She glares back at him. She's not playing.]

I'm Hibiki Kuze, and this is Daichi Shijima. He's from the next apartment over.

Mhm. Mine's Yoshiya Kiryu if you're interested, though practically everyone's in the habit of calling me Joshua. If that's your thing, go for it. It's hardly as if I mind.
...And your digimon?

[Yes, the Floramon hasn't escaped his attention. A plant Digimon? Jealous. He turns to her, since Viximon is currently trying to climb on Leormon's head.]

I'm Leormon, she's Floramon! [That said Leormon lets Viximon crawl on and starts loping around playing piggiback]

Kiriyu, huh? Did you just show up here too?

[Floramon watches the other two digimon play for a moment before turning her attention to Josh.]

Please excuse my companion.

Yeah, do you know what happened to the rest of the people? Tokyo's never this quiet.

[He nods at the digimon, raising a hand in polite greeting. And soon enough his eyes turn to Viximon and Leormon's little game. Which admittedly, is sort of endearing. He's not exactly fond of having a fluffy foxblob leash to keep him from doing what he wants, but she is sort of cute. He has to give her that.]

Hello. Nice to meet you, Floramon, Leormon. And there's no need. From what I've gathered, we're all in the same boat.
... What an adventure.

[Perhaps if either of the four of them were anything close to perceptive, they should have noticed the driest hint of sarcasm in that rather benign statement. Hibiki's question answered his next one, so...

First things first, a glance to Daichi.]

Ah. Before we continue, it's Kiryu. Not Kiriyu. Just so you know.

[And a small shrug.]

Anyway, It's a mystery to me. And I don't exactly know about you, Floramon, Leormon, but I recall Viximon saying that she's not from the city originally, she doesn't know either. I suppose it's unknown for now, exactly like why only parts of Tokyo are actually here.

[He's got a suspicion, but the foxblob interrupts.]

Yes... I thought the world you're all from must have been really strange. You didn't seem to have much of anything... just duplicates of metal boxes. But the metal boxes are really good to sleep in! ...If there's not any Numemon in there. They don't like sharing...

[Hibiki sighs. Nothing is ever simple anymore, it seems. He half expects Ronaldo to pop out of some street corner and tell him Yamato is fucking with his head.]

So... Do you think this isn't really Tokyo? It seems like they just... imitated it.

[Why is everything so confusing.]

Ugh. Numemon.

[It isn't the Numemon that catches Hibiki's attention, though.]

What metal boxes?

[Viximon hops off Leormon's head, and looks to Joshua.]

Can I borrow your D-terminal? I can draw on it!

[And.It's handed over and soon enough, This beauty fills the screen. Viximon looks sheepish. ]

I don't have fingers, or hands... or arms... so I can't draw very well.

[. . . Well, that's better than Hibiki can draw.]

So Numemon are more demons?

[Pause.]

You're very talented for someone without thumbs. Better than anything I could have done.

[Viximon reddens considerably at the praise, and soon scuttles behind Joshua. Y-yeah, she might be a moment. Joshua, however, is a little more interested in the subject matter than the drawing. He examines it closely, tilting his head.]

... So your metal boxes are just vending machines. Wonderful. It's just like thousands more in the Tokyo I come from.

[Finally, Hibiki's question. He crosses his arms about his rakish torso, eyes unamused. It's not like he needs his ESP or even a fraction of it to see that the two worlds aren't exactly side-by-side like good little parallels. They're collapsing in on each other.]

Who knows. There's hardly any reason to total their own city with a duplication of a faraway place they may or may not have known about before this, though. Normally, new parallels are created all of the time. Existence takes a separate turn, and a new reality is birthed - carrying on a hypothetical what if as reality. This isn't exactly supposed to happen. It's not like I actually know, but this world appears pretty established. Certainly not new.

...Can't you feel it? The two realities are clashing against each other for survival.

[And after some thought.]

With the lack of people from Tokyo, I'd assume this world is winning. But who knows.

Do the vending machines where you're from usually contain demons?

[At this point? He wouldn't be surprised. Life's gotten weird lately.]

[. . . And speaking of weird.]

You can feel that?

[Hibiki is both impressed and a little bit alarmed.]

Wouldn't that be a hoot.

[A small laugh. This child is pretty obsessed with demons. Joshua's not exactly heard anyone but him use that term for the digimon, which is pretty indicative that his version of Tokyo isn't all that peaceful.

But there's a time and a place for that. Now certainly isn't it.]

...Hm? It's pretty obvious. Look outside. There's elements of both just standing side-by-side in the same reality. Our vending machines, their dull little city. And like I said, it's really not supposed to happen this way. The earthquake which happened when we were brought here is kind of conclusive to that.

Imagine- Hibiki, Floramon, a pane of glass. A cracked one. That's the wall between parallels. Something that keeps one thing on one side, another thing on another. In our little imaginary situation, we're trickling into this world. Drops, if anything. That's what our vending machines are. There's probably multiples because it's way simpler to just duplicate something than find variants. Takes up less space too, if you get my drift.

[And if they don't, too bad. He doesn't want to go into that.]

Now imagine on either side of said pane, you forcing your hands against it. Whichever pushes hardest will certainly win. But the pane itself... It won't be pretty when it finally gives out. Look at all the damage caused by that earthquake just to bring little old us here.
