Characters: Neku Sakuraba and Commander Jane Shepard

Where: Shepard's apartment
What: After his 'walk' with Joshua, Neku has a lot of thoughts bouncing around his head. Who better to spill them to then a certain sister-figure? ~~Gingers unite~~

The last person Neku had expected to see again so soon was Joshua. Though, thinking on it, he wasn't surprised. After all Mr. H had told him (and not told him, Neku was sure) it seemed almost destined that the Composer would show up, as if arriving just to ruin this budding equilibrium he'd managed here.

Before he would have just hidden away. Now he had people around he could... confide in. It felt strange even considering it, but he felt that if he didn't say anything he'd explode from the pressure. As such he ended up on Shepard's doorstep, knocking lightly and wondering if the older woman would be off the pain meds by now

Oh, Shepard is off her pain meds by now. She's gotten rather used to the tempo of pain that goes with her breathing, but she's careful to keep breathing properly. She vaguely remembers something from one of Joker's stories about pneumonia, and this is the last place she'd like to get that.

She's cleaning her useless guns in the living room, mostly for something to do with her hands. She feels restless already, but the kids will worry if she leaves. She has her d-terminal on the couch next to her, because Monodramon is napping, so it's her turn to watch it.

She's surprised by the knock on the door. She sets down her shotgun and stands up to go get it. She isn't too surprised by the person in the hallway.

"Neku? What's up?"

"H-hey." He stands there in the doorway for a long awkward moment, rubbing the back of his head and just looking unsure and a little miserable.

"Can, uh, I come in?"

Shepard frowns a little and takes a step back so Neku can get in the doorway.

"Of course. You okay, kid?"

He doesn't sound okay.

"I've been better." He walks in, giving Monodramon a small wave. Terriermon was back in his own room, playing with his D-Terminal... he liked her, in his own way, but he didn't feel right talking about this with her around.

"You...you're not busy? I don't wanna be a pest."

Monodramon, who woke up when Shepard abruptly moved, blinks sleepily at his partner's friend for a moment before snuggling back into the couch cushions. Shepard shakes her head.

"I was actually just messing with my guns for something to do. You're not bothering me."

"Cool..." Now, how to start. He sits on the floor in front of the couch, looking curiously at the guns.

"...one of the people I know from home showed up yesterday, and it's messing my head up."

Shepard follows Neku across the room and sits down on the couch next to her partner. Her props herself on her elbows, which she sets on her knees.

"Not a friend of yours, I take it? Or were they not human before?"

She did talk to Thane earlier.

"...yes? No? Both?... It's complicated." He thumps his head against his knees in frustration.

"Sounds like it. Did something happen between you two?"

She frowns and tilts her head slightly to the side.

"..." He debates not telling her the truth- he knows she won't take it well. But lying to Shepard seems counter-intuitive at this point.

"...it's the guy that shot me."

Well, that was entirely not what she was expecting.

"The guy who shot you? Holy shit, Neku, who is this guy?"

Because that is highly alarming and you do not touch her kids.

Yeeeah, he had expected something similar to that. With a slightly panic stricken face he raises his hands as if to stop her from leaving at right that moment. Possibly to go shoot Joshua in the face.

"Hold up, if I tell you, you gotta promise not to go after him. Okay?"
