Pasta Dinner Night -- Open to All

When: April 7, 2013, 6pm onwards
Where: The communal kitchen
What: Shepard hosts a communal dinner to make sure all the kids are okay, but adults and digimon are welcome as well!

[There's a good chance Shepard is going to regret emptying her wallet later, but for now, she's armed with a massive quantity of uncooked pasta and a bunch of jars of red sauce, along with butter and salt just in case of picky eaters. She'd normally just make the same thing for everyone, but she's dealing with what could be very young, very frightened children, so it's best to err on the side of caution.]

[She settles into the kitchen at 6, and after banishing Monodramon to their apartment (he's still in trouble for the incident with Gomamon), sets about to cooking.]

[If you show up early, you'll find her manning a large number of cooking pots full of heating sauce and boiling water. If you're on time, you'll find Shepard handing out plates of pasta and offering a choice between sauce or no sauce, then herding you to a table filled with anyone who got here before you. Why not get to mingling? There's enough food and company to go around, tonight.]

Early - Kitchen - open
[After a long talk with Gizamon about trying to be a LITTLE nicer to people and digimon, Kaldur had led the way to the kitchen a little early in the hopes that he could be of some help. While he appreciated the sentiment of cooking for everyone, he didn't want Shep to take on all of that by herself. After all, she was new as well and certainly cooking for so many was not a job for one person alone.

So, Kaldur set Gizamon to wait by the door and started looking around for what he could do to help, whether it be collecting ingredients, getting pots, or simply plating the food.]

Dinner - Open

[Kaldur sat down with a bowl of pasta for himself and Gizamon. Gizamon, being quadrupedal, took her food on the floor but still managed to eat it without getting sauce everywhere, an impressive feat.

Kaldur scanned the room, identifying those he had spoken to already and those he had yet to meet. He wanted to try and meet everyone eventually but right now it was time to enjoy good food and perhaps the company of whoever decided to sit beside him. Unfortunately, he had not gotten hold of a jacket yet so his gills were still very much visible. While always an interesting conversation starter, he had begun to get a little tired of the same drill.

Although, he could only imagine how those who were once non-human felt and wasn't going to complain about it.]

[Considering there's a girl with large feathered wings, the gills might not seem too bad.

Speaking of which, said girl is standing over by the wall away from most of the crowd, with her Digimon beside her trying to get her to partake in the activities.

She may need some gentle encouragement.]

[Kaldur's honestly used to stranger appearances from his friends in Atlantis. The wings and pink hair will not deter him, although it does draw his eyes to her as she stands awkwardly in a corner.

She looks shy and nervous. Kaldur rose from his table and approached her.]

There is plenty of room at that corner table. My name is Kaldur'ahm, would you like to sit together?

[She tenses slightly and glances up at him, a little surprised.] W-well...

[With a sigh, Lopmon moves behind her and pushes at her legs to get her moving.] Go on!

She stumbles just a bit at her partner's insistence before her wings catch her balance. She blushes, embarrassed.]

Uh, y-yes...that'd be...nice...Th-thank you.

[He'd almost over looked the tiny brown rabbit digimon with her but since the digimon is encouraging Fluttershy he simply gives a nod and returns to the table.]

This is Gizamon.

[Gizamon glances up from her plate but, thankfully, says nothing. Although she does glare a bit. Kaldur gives his partner a "be nice" look and she rolls her eyes and returns to her meal. Probably for the best.]

I do not believe we have met yet.

[She shakes her head a little.] N-no, I-I...don't think we have. M-my name is...F-Fluttershy.

[Her Digimon partner hops up onto a chair.] And I'm Lopmon!

It's...nice to meet you...[She pauses, trying to sound out his name in her head so she doesn't get it wrong.] K-Kaldur...ahm.

It is a pleasure to meet you as well Fluttershy and Lopmon.

[He appreciates the effort. She's actually not far off.] Not bad, but if Kaldur is easier for you, many of my friends use that instead.

[She nods, then repeats it as though testing it out.] Kaldur...It's...It's a very nice name.

[She's not...used to small talk.]

[Small talk can be difficult. Kaldur, being the quiet type, is probably not exactly the best of it either.]

Are you adjusting well? I have noticed this place to be very overwhelming to some.

[Shepard has decided that she likes the older teenagers in this building. The fact that anyone showed up to help is really nice, as the most she usually gets on the Normandy when she cooks late night snacks is a couple of biotics hovering around waiting for nibbles.]

You're early.

[She's smiling.]

[Kaldur returned the smile and nodded.]

Yes. It did not seem fair for you to take care of everyone on your own.

[But it was appreciated.]

I have not cooked spaghetti before but I am willing to learn and help where you need me.

Much appreciated. I'm gonna be honest, I've never made this much food at once before. Team effort?

That would be the best way to go about it.

[Kaldur set some pots on the stove and started filling them with water to boil. He knew they needed THAT much.]

Just be grateful that Kid Flash will most likely not have the same metabolism without his abilities...otherwise we would have to make twice as much.

[Because you have not seen someone eat until you've seen Kid Flash pull a tornado of food and it is suddenly all gone.]

[. . . Wait, she knows Kid Flash.]

You know him?

[This is a big deal, considering she thinks KF is a drug dealer.]

How so?

Yes. We are teammates and friends for many years now.[He answers cautiously though, he recognizes that tone to some degree. Kaldur sighs.]

What has he done now?

[Teammates. That's something to pay attention to.]

I'll be blunt. Is he dealing drugs?

Drugs?

[He was expecting a complaint about something but that certainly hadn't been it.]

To the best of my knowledge he is not in that business. He is more often than not on the right side of the law.

[Kaldur's brow furrows.] What gave you the impression that he was dealing drugs?

Kitchen

[ Rise was trying to help around the kitchen too. Unfortunately, she didn't really know her way around the kitchen that much and it sometimes required a lot of reaching for things she cannot reach.

This time, she was trying to reach the sauce pan from the top of the cabinet and failing miserably.

In frustration, she kicks the cabinet. But it didn't help much at all. ]

[The loud clang of metal alerted Kaldur to her predicament. He was trying to collect the right cans of tomato sauces needed. Kaldur looked over and noticed the girl reading for the sauce pan which was clearly just out of reach of her hand.]

Do you need help?

[Kaldur, while not the tallest boy you would meet, was at least taller than the girl.]
