thefolder | Pasta Dinner Night -- Open to All

Characters: Anyone who wants in!
When: April 7, 2013, 6pm onwards
Where: The communal kitchen
What: Shepard hosts a communal dinner to make sure all the kids are okay, but adults and digimon are welcome as well!

[There's a good chance Shepard is going to regret emptying her wallet later, but for now, she's armed with a massive quantity of uncooked pasta and a bunch of jars of red sauce, along with butter and salt just in case of picky eaters. She'd normally just make the same thing for everyone, but she's dealing with what could be very young, very frightened children, so it's best to err on the side of caution.]

[She settles into the kitchen at 6, and after banishing Monodramon to their apartment (he's still in trouble for the incident with Gomamon), sets about to cooking.]

[If you show up early, you'll find her manning a large number of cooking pots full of heating sauce and boiling water. If you're on time, you'll find Shepard handing out plates of pasta and offering a choice between sauce or no sauce, then herding you to a table filled with anyone who got here before you. Why not get to mingling? There's enough food and company to go around, tonight.]

[Kaldur begins to fix plates, making sure to heap on a lot of sauce as requested.]

It did not seem fair for the Commander to do all of the work. I was not doing much else so it only made sense to help where I could, even if she did not ask for it.

If I'd figured, I probably woulda... [A thoughtful frown.] ...N-naw, I'm not all that good in a kitchen when it's not...microwavable or poured from a box.

[His mouth waters a bit as he sees the pasta; he hasn't had much of an appetite lately, so this is nice. Cam licks his lips and tries not to smile too big.]

Understandable. I have only been learning myself in the past year or so.

[Prior to that he had mostly been given his meals elsewhere in the kingdom.]

I believe I will be done soon with my share of the work. Did you have someone you were already eating with or may I join you and Lucemon?

[Kaldur hands the plates over.]

[Cam and Lucemon take their plates before answering.]

Me? Uh, no. Not really. I don't really...know a lot of people. But, you, you don't have to. If you've got friends here.

So far there is only Wally. However, Wally has always been a master at befriending others. So I do not have to fear about him eating alone. Besides, my goal is to get to know more of the people I have only just met or even those I have not had the chance to meet yet. There are many people here after all.

[Kaldur started to make his own plate. The line seemed to be in order and others were coming from the kitchens to help with serving instead of cooking.]

[Kaldur's logic is sound. It makes sense. Not really a way for Cam to argue around that. That and the food, calling his name.]

Alright, sure. That'll be...fun. ...I can't believe how many people are here. Kinda... crowded.

And from what Koushirou said, there is no way of really knowing how many more might come.

[They seemed to be planning for a lot though, given the housing situation. Kaldur could not imagine what would require so many people to help, but perhaps that was the point or perhaps there was just no way of stopping the influx of people.]

Finding a seat may be difficult. Do you see an open spot? [He paused and then glanced over his shoulder.] I should probably find Gizamon as well. She will likely be hungry.

[Great, more people. Cam's not really big on that, and at the same time...

He focuses on looking for a place to sit.] Uh... Not really. Get Gizamon and we'll look for somewhere.

Yeah! I'll see if I can spot one, ten-four! [She hovers up higher, to get a better view.]

[Kaldur nods. He last left Gizamon near the door and hopefully she had not wandered off or gotten into any fights in his absence. He finds her soon enough and only hopes he can then find Cam and Lucemon again.]

[Campbell "indecisive" Saunders hasn't found much luck...but Lucemon the Wonder Angel has! They're sitting at a table with a surprising four empty seats, with Lucemon floating up high and waving to get Kaldur's attention.]

[Well with a signal like that.

Kaldur makes his way over to Lucemon with Gizamon trudging behind.]

Thank you.

You are very welcome, Kaldur'ahm!

[She bows mid-air.]

Uh...dig in?

[The words are barely out of his mouth before Gizamon attacks the plate, slurping up noodles. The "attack" is so sudden that it actually startles the ever-calm and composed Kaldur. He jumps and looks down at his partner with bewilderment.]

...

I thought Wally was a sight to see eat.

[What's that Kaldur? She's eating all other thoughts are shut out.]

[Seconding that comment from Cam.] I've never seen anything eat like that before.

Oh, it's just normal! Digimon need to eat a lot, you know!

Yeah, but doesn't she need to breathe too?

[Gizamon sits back, slurping up a long noodle and then smacking her lips with delight.]

'chu say something Kaldur?

. . .

Are you...enjoying the food?

Yeah, it's great. Why? Don't you like it? You haven't even touched it yet.

[His lip twitches, he's about to break into a grin.] I have not had the chance yet.

[To stifle his laughter, Cam starts to eat his own pasta, licking his lips, and.] ...You helped make this? S'really good.

I only boiled the water and added the noodles. It was not the hardest part of the meal. But thank you.

Better than me. Last time I boiled water it boiled over.

[He smiles slightly.]

I see. I never considered myself a cook, but I had not tried before this either.

Natural talent?

I think I'll wait and see if I can do more than boil water before making that declaration.

Those Damemon sure like to...cook. [Slurp.] You might not get much of a chance to.

I am sure they would not mind exploring a new hobby. Although, there might not be time for such things.

[He did have more pressing concerns besides learning how to cook.]

R- right, we're supposed to...save the world.

[Extreme reservations about that.]

A large task. [Kaldur sensed that Cam was nervous or apprehensive about it.] Perhaps it would help not to think of it in such terms? Focus on staying safe and working with your partner at the moment.
