Pasta Dinner Night -- Open to All

When: April 7, 2013, 6pm onwards
Where: The communal kitchen
What: Shepard hosts a communal dinner to make sure all the kids are okay, but adults and digimon are welcome as well!

[There's a good chance Shepard is going to regret emptying her wallet later, but for now, she's armed with a massive quantity of uncooked pasta and a bunch of jars of red sauce, along with butter and salt just in case of picky eaters. She'd normally just make the same thing for everyone, but she's dealing with what could be very young, very frightened children, so it's best to err on the side of caution.]

[She settles into the kitchen at 6, and after banishing Monodramon to their apartment (he's still in trouble for the incident with Gomamon), sets about to cooking.]

[If you show up early, you'll find her manning a large number of cooking pots full of heating sauce and boiling water. If you're on time, you'll find Shepard handing out plates of pasta and offering a choice between sauce or no sauce, then herding you to a table filled with anyone who got here before you. Why not get to mingling? There's enough food and company to go around, tonight.]

[She seems a little surprised by the idea.] Could that really happen?

[She never even though about that...that one of her friends could one day show up here too.]

Well...I mean I figure probably. My two roommates are from the same worlds, and a couple of their friends came too.

...though they are from different times which is weird.

[strengthinkindness]

[Different times?] Th-that...does sound a little strange.

Still, it...it might be nice if...one of my friends back home came here too.

I hear that. All we can do is stay hopeful, and make new friends.

And I'd say we're off to a good start huh? [wink]

[strengthinkindness]

[She blushes and glances away, a small smile on her face. It takes her a moment, but she does manage to nod.]

[big grin!]

So are you having any trouble adjusting to your human body?

[strengthinkindness]

W-well...It certainly is...different. B-but I think I'm...managing all right.

[She glances a little behind her, at her wings that are just a little visible over her shoulders.] Th-the biggest problem is that...sometimes my wings get in the way...They don't fold down as much as I'm used to...

Huh...yeah I bet that would be an issue.

[because he's got little sense of personal space peers behind her]

Well at least you shouldn't have too much trouble finding clothes. They got clothes for every shape and size.

[strengthinkindness]

[She tenses just slightly as he moves closer. But forcing herself to relax, she gathers her hair to one side so he can get a better look at her wings, stretching them out just a bit.]

These are so cool!

[slips off one of his gloves and lightly touches the feathers inspecting them closely]

I can't even think of what bird would have a structure like this they gotta be built to keep up a heavier body...

[whup! His face gets red and he stumbles]

N-not that you're heavy! I just mean like, you know birds and like...gravity and...

[strengthinkindness]

[Luckily she doesn't seem to take offense to it, and simply smiles.]

There are some similarities, but for the most part pegasi wings and bird wings are rather different...Like you said, pegasi wings have to be able to carry us - and we are heavier than birds...[She gives him a teasing smile.] but still be light enough for us to fly.

[phew! Crisis averted. Good thing she's an animal lover.]

They look pretty flexible too! Do you steer with them since you don't have tail feathers?

[...a second pause where he obviously stops himself from looking at her backside]

Y-you uh...don't have tail feathers do you?

[strengthinkindness]

[She shakes her head.] I used to have a tail before coming here, but it was a regular pony tail.

And yes, our wings usually help with direction, but we can also use our body weight if we need to. It really depends on the situation at the time, I guess.

[changelingdude]

[grinning like a goof again because Fluttershy you are the coolest Pegasus he's ever met! You're the only one he's ever met but never mind that]

Great color too! Like a cross between butter and sunshine!

[strengthinkindness]

[And she's blushing again.] Th-that's...that's actually the color of my fur too...b-back home.

Yellow fur, pink hair. Awesome combination!

Oh dude, how are you adjusting to the whole ya know...skin thing? And clothes, did you guys have clothes?

[what he wouldn't give to be able to shape shift and try to go Pegasus right now]

[strengthinkindness]

[She rubs her arm, a little frown on her lips.] It...feels a little strange, to be honest. Being without a coat is...kind of weird.

A-and we do have clothes, back home. One of my best friends is actually a fashion designer, and she makes the prettiest outfits.

We...don't have to wear clothes all the time, though. [Not like here.] Mostly it was for special occasion, or if we needed to because of the weather...Then again, some ponies just choose to wear clothes more often than others.

[changelingdude]

[obviously fascinated with this world of optional clothes.]

I know what you mean. Going back and forth between fur and skin can get weird. Scales are even weirder. [laughs] and going from cold blooded to warm blooded? Gives me the chills every time.

[by this time Psychemon who has been quietly eating pipes up]

pardon...sidebar. How does your friend see with um...hooves?

[strengthinkindness]

[She glances at Psychemon curiously.] I'm sorry...?

[changelingdude]

well I mean, you guys don't have hands or claws right?

[wiggles her own claws for emphasis]

So how does she handle a needle?

[strengthinkindness]

O-oh. W-well, she's a unicorn, so she's able to use her magic for that. But mostly she uses a sewing machine, like other ponies would.

[changelingdude]

Wait but how does-

Whoa! You have magic unicorns too? Your world is AWESOME!

[strengthinkindness]

[A shy nod.] B-back home, unicorns and pegasi are just two of the four kinds of ponies. Th-there are also Earth ponies, and alicorns...but only royalty are alicorns, so th-there are fewer of them than the other ponies.

[changelingdude]

Huh...wouldn't have thought about Alicorns.

So you guys have royalty? Like a king and queen?

[strengthinkindness]

S-something like that...mostly just princesses.
