Go Rescue the Derp Fist

Who: People in the Defenders and Divers groups

The Trailmon to Server left hours ago. Twenty-one people were aboard and split their separate ways at a terminal close to the Village. Some went to protect the Yokomon and Koromon that were left unaffected by the corruption while most of the others had a mission at hand: rescuing the dummy Masaru Daimon (I mean, who is crazy enough to fall into a dark field after punching a digimon in the face?).

No Digimon seems to be around as group approaches the field. It as Ryou said, too, full of bright colors and random numbers. The size isn't great, so one must wonder how a boy got lost in there. Or perhaps you're unable to think on that when you realize how still everything is.

No wind seems to pass and no sound can be heard.

Whatever's going on, it can't be normal for the Digital World either, can it?

[[OOC: So here's how this will work! We will give you all a few rounds to prepare for going into the Dark Field. This includes roping off the Divers and making sure your groups are ready. For this we're going to need you guys to be a little speedy at first. Once we feel that everyone is ready, we will post of the individual group fight threads. The only difference this time is that we will be setting up a thread for the Divers.

The Digimon you will be fighting will also make their appearance! Please note it will take several hours after the Divers take their leave that the Digimon will appear. We will introduce these Digimon and explain the mechanics of their behavior, and will play them intermittently (Or we will try to! Bear with us if we miss a tag or two!)

Divers, unlike the last time, you will find that the tethers do not last very long. After about a half hour or so in the dark field, the ropes will disappear. Those on the outside will notice this too as the ropes you thought were secure suddenly are no longer there. On the 30th, the Divers will find a clue hinting that Masaru has found his way out of the dark field on his own, though you will not actually see him. It is then that you will be able to find your way out.

Please note for those reading the Divers thread, there is content involving at times graphic death, violence, and issues pertaining to eating disorders. Proceed with caution.

[Kaldur tries not to curse when Ed goes charging forward. He couldn't really blame him, he'd done much the same when the Devimon fight had occurred. He'd learned a lot since then and facing a digimon of this power was just NOT advised.

He rushes over to join BlackAgumon and Ed. He trusts Seadramon to take care of herself.]

Are you all right? [He glances at Ed's partner.] Can you evolve yet?

[Seadramon, meanwhile, is not going to let up, not even when the whip comes out. She barely manages to avoid it and hisses loudly at just being brushed by it. But she just bares her fangs.]

Oh? So you want to play rough then?

Ice Blast!

[Maybe if she hit him with enough ice he'd become a digi-cicle.]

[BlackAgumon backs away a couple of steps.] Would it even help? Don't you think we need backup? Look at them, that's just not right -

[The whip skims the air maybe an inch away from the end of her nose, and she yelps - then yelps again as she looks round to see Ed looming over her. He's breathing heavily and clutching his side where he was hit, but he wasted no time in scrambling to his feet after hitting the ground and intends to stay on them. His other hand is clutching his Digivice.]

That's exactly what he's talking about, you idiot! Or are you giving up 'cause you thought one overgrown bat is enough to keep me down?!

What? I don't -

You know exactly what I mean, Blue! [He shoots a look at Kaldur.] Sorry. But, c'mon, quick... You seem like you know what's going on, so what's our strategy?

[If anyone points out that he could have attempted to strategise earlier without just rushing in, he's going to ignore them.]

[Both attacks combined from Devidramon and Seadramon hit the Myotismon heavily, causing it to let out a terrible, undulating roar of pain. The sound is piercing, though obviously broken and digitized, and only gets worse as the ice from Seadramon's Ice Blast renders its left shoulder frozen solid.

The beast of a digimon isn't finished yet though. It's mouth can be seen working as it yells out its attack like any other Digimon would, but in the place of actual words is just another earsplitting cry.

It opens up it's cape in a flourish, a cloud of bats swarming out as they make a beeline for Leatherhead, Devidramon, and Seadramon. The swarm is like a cloud, so dense that it's hard to pinpoint individual bats in it as they attack.

Might want to watch out for a stray bat or two, because it's obvious that they're ruthless, itching to sink their fangs into the nearest body they can. Everybody here is fair game, and it would be a mistake to let your guard down now.]

Strategy? [Scoffs.] From the looks of it, the plan is: take this thing down!

[Devidramon felt a little satisfied that they made some progress. But all that hard work seems to go right down the drain when Myotismon reveals its next attack. Oh of course, bats. It had to be bats. And just right on top of them.

His day just gets better and better. He looks over to Seadramon. Sure, if he has to rely on these chumps, they better know what they're doing.]

Let's get these pitstains to split up before they do any damage. Red eye!

[Devidramon unleashes an attack from his eyes, aimed right at some of the small creatures.

But of course, Leatherhead just had to choose that time to be a hero. Even when his ribs hurt like hell, Leatherhead tightened up the resolve to keep on going, as long as the others remained safe. He had to do it. For Donnie and Marley and everyone else. With one arm round his chest, be beats through some bats the others aren't attending, viciously trying to beat them back however he can.

The digimon companion gives an exasperated sigh in the middle of the fight.]

Do you always have to be the hero!?

[It was true Kaldur had been in this exact position before: a small team taking on a much more powerful digimon. This digimon was different though, not exactly as it still seemed to be badly fractured and corrupted but it was still far more powerful than it had any right to be and it had come from the same source. He takes a deep breath. Now probably isn't a good time to bring up the fact that the last time this happened they hadn't exactly beaten their foes.]

Attack all at once. Aim for areas of weakness: joints, eyes, possibly even the corrupted areas on his body. Try to drive it back.

[Unfortunately, that's about all the time Kaldur has to spot off a plan because that's when the bat swarm hits. He knocks a stray bat out of the sky before it can get to his "strategy" session with Edward.]

Evolve. Now. We're barely matching him attack for attack as it is.

[Seadramon thrashes as several bats start to bite at her scales. She grits her teeth though and her entire body starts to spark with electricity.]

Ragh! Electric Shock!

[~~Flying types are weak against Electric type moves~~ The electricity paralyzes the attacking bats momentarily.]

I wanted a digicicle but I guess these stupid bats will do. Cold Breath!

[Frozen bats began to fall out of the sky. Kaldur jumps back as they do and a few of the extra bats start coming towards him. He ducks, grabs one of the frozen bats, and uses it as a weapon against the non-frozen ones coming for his blood. It works surprisingly well, until another bat comes onto Kaldur from behind and sinks its teeth into his shoulder. Kaldur hisses in pain and yanks the bat off before throwing it away from him.]

Argh! [Two more bats swoop down and Kaldur ducks and dives out of the way. He comes up next to Seadramon and presses his back against her scales. At least this provides some cover but at the same time puts him closer to the line of fire. Oh well.]

Seadramon! Devidramon! We could use some cover.

[As one of the frozen bats crashed and broke, its data recompiled into a crest.

The tag and crest is drawn to his never say die attitude, as he bludgeon bats with a frozen bat.

[Ed glances at the tag as it lands on the ground. No time for idle curiosity, though - the rest of the swarm is heading this way, and he can't count on all of them to go for the automail.]

Here goes nothing...

[There's a burst of light.]

BlackAgumon, evolve!

[She lumbers forward into the oncoming bats, trying to keep them at bay and shield the others with a few haphazard swipes of her rapidly elongating claws -]

Devidramon!

[- beats her wings once, and takes off, straight up into the air. She doubts she'd achieve much going after the main attraction in this kind of chaos, but diversions and splitting the enemy up are tactics she can understand.]

This way, jerks!

[Meanwhile, Ed staggers back. Maybe he got hit a little harder than he thought...]

[The swarm of bats has had the intended affect, giving the Myotismon time to recover from the previous attacks, if only somewhat. It's left arm has been rendered useless due to the ice, and parts of its body appear to be otherwise just falling off, revealing jumbled, glowing code beneath.

While relentless, it doesn't take much to beat the bats back. There are so many of them, however, that getting rid of them completely might seem to be a challenge. They bite and nip everywhere they can reach until they're knocked from the sky, only to have another take that one's place.

Relieved of attacks for the moment, the Myotismon doesn't hesitate to produce that same red whip as before, lashing out this time at Ed, who's the closest in its range.]

...you gotta be kidding me.

[It's a blanket statement: the other Devidramon, the bats, the cresting, and now the relentless Myotismon. At what point do things ease up for them?! Whatever, he's got some butts to cover. He rushes over by Kaldur, sending a Crimson Claw through the swarming bats, smacking those getting at his tail left and right.

The rising Myotismon just adds difficulty to the matter. Devidramon groans in mid-attack.]

This isn't doing anything! We gotta take down the Myotismon or we're gonna be drowning in bats!

[Leatherhead has some difficulties of his own. He's adept at beating back crowds of these annoyances, but the swarm just keeps giving him bites and scratches. He can take a lot of pain, but there's only so much he can take for so long.

He glances at Ed, seeing the whip coming his way. He tries to call out over the fray, to get attention.

Devidramon denies that he needs his help right now. He's a tough guy, it took a champion attack to knock the kid--er, gator out. Whatever. He's just gotta focus on the bats and beating back Myotismon.]

[Kaldur blinks when the change occurred. He almost missed it in all the chaos but he manages to catch the unexpected jewelry all the same. Okay, he can analyze random jewelry later. His eyes move up to the corrupted digimon trying to think of a better plan than what he'd told Ed. At least he finally managed to evolve his partner, though Kaldur is mildly surprised to see a second Devidramon joining the fray.

Kaldur is distracted again by the bats as they fly at his face and arms. He manages to beat them back again, but he knows there will only be more. He sees the red light of the whip from the corner of his eye and is moving before he can really think.]

Get down!

[He's not sure he'll make it to knock Edward out of the way. At the same time Seadramon lunges forward, striking like a snake and attempting to wrap herself around Myotismon and squeeze him into submission.]

[Unfortunately, it's too late. Seconds before Seadramon connects with the Myotismon the whip finds its target, hitting Ed directly. The energy from the severe blow knocks him back into his partner, sending them both crashing to the ground in a heap a few yards away. There they lie together motionless, knocked out cold.

The broken Digimon doesn't have a spare moment to celebrate it's victory, letting out a shrill cry when Seadramon wraps around it. The tighter she squeezes the more it roars and thrashes against her, more and more of it's body flaking off. It's not long until it seems nearly indistinguishable, it's body glowing with revealed code all over, other than beneath the ice that it's arm is still encased in.

Meanwhile, the remaining bats still fight back as fiercely as they can, focusing on just the remaining Chosen and their partners. At least for now they won't have to worry about any more bats appearing, now that Seadramon has the Myotismon momentarily subdued.]

[Oh you've gotta be kidding him. Oh well, it's one less Devidramon. But this definitely tips the odds against them. The digimon scowls.

Oh wait, Seadramon seems like they got it covered, for once. As he sees it, he can either beat back the now rabid bats or get rid of this Myotismon...guess it's beating back the horde.]

Finish it, Seadramon! Don't want to spend the rest of my life here! Crimson claw!

[Devidramon cuts into the crowd, seeing Leatherhead in the back succumb to more bat bites. He's trying really hard to remain strong, but it doesn't seem to be working out so well. If it weren't for those damn ribs. He weakly swipes at the swarm, failing more and more to keep them at bay.

The digimon hops over by the teen's side, making sure it didn't look wimpy. He offers his arm to the human.]

Grab on before I regret it.

[Leatherhead blinks with surprise, did he really mean...? This protective streak of the digimon seemed to come as a surprise to him. Without another word of consideration, Devidramon scoops him by the legs, giving the teen some support. At least it kept the pressure off...

In the meantime, Devidramon beats back the crowds of bats with his best effort, sending Crimson Claws left and right.]

[Having missed Ed by seconds, Kaldur hits the ground instead of a body and actually slides across the grass a bit. He grunts and pushes himself back up. Dammit, that attack couldn't have been good for a human to have to endure. He ignores the scrapes on his arms and turns back to the battle. He'll have to check on Ed and his partner later.

Seadramon is determined to squeeze the stupid, broken batty digimon within an inch of his life if she has to. She doesn't seem to notice the "skin" sloughing off but Kaldur does. It's disturbing but he files it away for reference. Seadramon shouts at Devidramon.]

What do you think I'm doing? Just giving him a hug?

[She tenses up and decides adding an electric jolt couldn't hurt since, while she hates to admit it, Devidramon has a point.]

Electric Shock!

[The sudden electricity coursing through the Myotismon seems to do the trick. It thrashes and screams out again, only this time it sounds more like static than a scream at all. It's body is in complete disarray, and the moment the attack is over it goes limp against Seadramon's hold.

The rest of the bats are still swarming around the remaining Chosen and their partners by the dozens, but it's nothing compared to the amount that were there moments before.]

[Finally, they're getting somewhere with this Myotismon problem. But damnit if these bats keep being a nuisance.

Devidramon continues beating the remaining swarms with claw and tail, all the while holding Leatherhead. The teen wants to fight back, and he does so, throwing the occasional punch--something which Devidramon disapproves of entirely.

This is gonna end up a disaster at this rate. He calls out to Seadramon.]

How long till we can hold these guys back? I dunno about you, but those drivers need to get over here and high tail it!

[She knows better than to release immediately and makes sure to get an extra squeeze in. After a moment she relaxes her coils and released the vampire digimon before slinking away to loosely coil around Kaldur. Partly to be near her partner and check on him, but also to protect him from those damned bats that are still lingering. Her eyes, however, do not leave the fallen digimon.]

We should throw that thing back into the field before he gets any bright ideas about coming back.

[She looks to Devidramon and then down at Kaldur.]

Thoughts?

If he flies high enough he could probably avoid any ice you blast around. We could attempt to freeze all of the bats out of the air.

[Seadramon nods, snapping up a bat in her jaws and then spitting it out because it tastes TERRIBLE.]

I'm gonna try and freeze'em out of the sky. Get out of the radius around me. Can't do anything about the divers...the rope snapped remember. Unless you want to go in after them!

[Once Devidramon is out of the way, or even if he is stupid enough to linger, she starts blasting the immediate area with several ice blasts.]

[The blasts of ice work wonders, causing the bats to drop out of the sky like flies. Most of them are caught off guard, but even after they're starting to notice they're being attacked, it's simply impossible to avoid the freezing blasts.

Oh, by the way. If they want to do anything about the Myotismon, they better do it quick. All of a sudden it's moving again, after all that, letting out a terrible scream as it tries to get back to its feet...or what's left of them.]

[Devidramon knows to get out of the way, he's not totally stupid. The digimon watches Seadramon take care of the bats. Ah, finally, some progress--

--he spoke too soon. It was always too damn soon. For the moment Seadramon began to solve that problem, another pops up. Better take care of this too. He gently sets Leatherhead down before speaking.]

Don't do anything too stupid. If you're going to be stupid, make it small.

[Leatherhead wanted to argue, but honestly he was too fatigued at this point. Continuing his way forward, Devidramon made his way to the stirring Myotismon, swiping another attack at the digimon.]

Crimson claw!

Augh! I knew this was going to happen! This is totally cheating!

[Seadramon snarls. All that hard work and what happened? The stupid thing comes back to life. Seadramon roars and like a striking serpent rams against Myotismon attempting to send him back into the Dark Field.

Kaldur is left in the dust and looks to the fatigued Leatherhead who had been doing a lot of fighting. With Edward down it's just the two of them. Kaldur decides he better stay close in case Leatherhead drops too.]

[The Crimson Claw attack and Seadramon ramming it pose as a double whammy for the already broken Digimon, causing it to stagger back towards the Dark Field. They've got the right idea. If they can manage to get it back over there, one well timed attack together might pose enough force to send it right back to the Hell that it came from.

That's a tall order however, and with all the fighting they've managed to wander a good distance from the field's entrance. Even with it's body still partially frozen, and parts of it completely missing at this point, the Myotismon continues to try to attack. It pulls out the whip one last time, lashing out with malice at Seadramon.]

[Oh good, at least they're making headway. Devidramon's thankful for that at least. In between his attacks, he begins to realize that there's no real way they can beat this thing...but at least they can buy some time.

He calls out to Seadramon, seeing if she's got the same idea.]

We need to push this thing ba--oh crud, no! Look out!

[Myotismon is ready to attack again, it seems. Devidramon returns with another Crimson Claw at the digimon. He can only hope for the best...]

That's what I'm try---AAAAAAHH

[The whip lashes out and coils around her now. Shit, she had not planned for that. It seemed the tables had been reversed from before, but Seadramon wasn't done. Her scream of pain turned into one of rage as she lashed out, trashing around and gathering as much ice as she could.]

ICE BLAST!!

[With it's only good hand holding onto the whip, and the rest of its body in poor condition, the Myotismon has no chance to avoid the attack. The blast of ice hits it dead center, and before it can even let out a cry it's frozen solid. There's an eerie silence as the whip disappears, and the block of ice mostly encasing the Digimon topples over, hitting the ground with a dull thud.]

[...jeeze, that was easy. Devidramon scoffs at the digimon . What a huge piece of junk.]

Not so tough now, buddy. Hehe.

[Ok, enough playtime. Devidramon begins shoving the digimon forward.]

Alright, let's get this sucked back to the dork area where be belongs.

[Seadramon looks pretty rough, but she's not going to show weakness now. She shakes herself off and slithers forward to start helping with the moving process. She's a little surprised when suddenly Kaldur is there between her and Devidramon, helping them push. He's small and only a human, but he's helping get this thing back where it came from. And, hey, every little bit helps right?

There's the silent agreement that they should get this done before Myotismon defrosts or shatters the ice or something.]
