[He watches the Chosen interact with her partner, tilting his head slightly with interest.]

I am BlackWargreymon. I am here to ensure that no harm comes to any of you as you perform your mission.

So like, you're the referee, huh? Groovy. That name is ridiculously huge. Gojira it is.

[ She smiles brightly and nudges Kotemon who grunts and nudges her back as the continue forward. Lips pursed in concentration, Roze surveys the area and taps the handheld against her temple. ]

So...you don't have a partner? You're just kinda runnin' solo?

[whatisthislife]

[Gojira...? BWG can only look down at her in confusion. Instead of pursuing the matter, though, he answers her other questions.]

I am here because there is a powerful Digimon in the area, who would be able to cause great damage if not dealt with. And what you surmise is correct, I am not the partner to any Chosen.

That doesn't get lonely?

[ She asks, perking at the mention of a "powerful Digimon", though she's wise enough not to show too much excitement. She liked getting into fights, she liked hairy situations, but not if it was going to endanger someone else. While Kotemon insisted he had it all under control, she could remember herself, young and small and really, really reckless. He was like a little brother at this point, and she took care of her own.

Much as she wanted to stretch her legs, so to speak, she didn't want to take unnecessary risks.]

*The promise of both a fight and a chance to gather information had pinged Jin's interest greatly. It had taken him a little while to decide which one to visit since it was likely that trying to investigate all of them would be too much for poor Veemon, but he'd eventually settled on the one in the ruined village. While he was willing to endanger civilians if necessary, he was just as willing to take a route that left him somewhere without any risk of sentient collateral.

When he and his partner got to the village, they noted that there was already another Chosen there, and...well.*

BlackWarGreymon. It's good to see you.

[whatisthislife]

I...have always been alone. This is nothing new to me.

[He bows his head as he thinks about his former life, full of anguish and rage. He is glad, at least, that those feelings have not returned.

Just then, Jin approaches, giving a thankful respite from the questioning.

He nods in response to the greeting.]

It is god to see you as well, Jin.

[ Turning to see the newcomer, Roze is briefly taken aback. Jin looked like an authority figure. That tended to throw her off more than anything else and while normally she might have externally extolled the virtues of a new person's looks, voice or other attractive elements, Jin's aura seemed to demand a little more dignity.

It threw her off long enough, at least, not to interrupt the two apparent friends' greeting. Roze was good at recovering, however, and flashed her trademark crooked grin, jutting a hand out in greeting. ]

Yo, I'm Roze. Nice to see new talent.

[betrayalcutsdeep]

*He takes her hand with a smile that seems both friendly and calculating, like he's already making plans for the mission.*

It's a pleasure to meet you, Roze. I'm Jin Uzuki, and this is my partner, Yukito.

*He gestures to the Veemon at his side, who waves.*

Hiya! You're one of the newbies, right?

*While his partner questions Roze, Jin turns his attention back to BWG.*

I see we're still one short.

[fullofthorns]

Uh, yeah. Pleasure meetin' you, too. [ She blinks, chewing her lower lip and refraining from her usual outbursts. Gratitude immediately fills her expression when the Veemon speaks, drawing her attention down. ]

Me? Yeah! Man, me and K-man here --

Kotemon.

--just rolled in a few days ago. Its been a hell of a trip, but I think I'm gettin' the idea. I'm only mildly pissed.

[ She reaches down, offering a polite hand to Yukito as well. No reason not to; so far as she was concerned, Digimon were as much people as anyone else around the place. ]

[The gestures the Chosen and their partners offer to each other are strange to him. So instead of joining in the greetings, he merely observes, attempting to decipher what almost feels like a foreign language.

He nods when Jin again addresses him.]

I believe there were meant to be four, in total. I am uncertain as to the whereabouts of the final Chosen. The three of you and your partners will carry out your mission, while I stand guard. I will do away with any Digimon that attempts to hinder your progress, or bring harm to you.

I see. Well, it seems this is a good mission for a new arrival to get her feet wet on.

*Veemon shakes her hand with a firm grip for someone so tiny.*

Hey Jin, do you think I should go ahead and evolve now?

Not just yet. We don't know how long our final arrival is going to take, so it might just be a waste of energy to do that now.

[fullofthorns]

You've already evolved? That's very impressive. I hope to achieve the same soon.

[ Roze frowns faintly, squinting at Kotemon, who shrugs innocently. Nodding to the Veemon she tilts an ear to the conversation between her other companions while drumming an impatient tune on her saya, nails clicking against the lacquered wood. ]

You should save your strength until you're certain it will be needed. I suppose we are uncertain as to the identity of the final Chosen?

Yup! I'm one of the veterans here. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was the first partner to evolve.

*Jin bends down to pat Yukito on the head while looking up at BWG.*

You would be correct about that. At least, I know I haven't invited anyone specific.

[fullofthorns]

[ Sucking her teeth audibly, Roze props her fists on her hips and kicks at a stone out of boredom. She hated being written off, but let the "grown-ups" talk. If Gojira and Captain Pretty wanted to get all Ol' Boy on her, she'd just ignore them in turn. Kotemon just seemed excited at the prospect of evolution and kept asking questions about the statistics. ]

apologies for taking so long!

[hootmons]

[They wait, but it looks like a fourth Chosen isn't coming.

A fourth Chosen doesn't arrive, and it's up to BlackWargreymon, the strongest among them, to advance forward. With his charge, a decaying Myotismon breaks free of the Dark Field. BlackWargreymon easily holds it back. Now's the perfect opportunity to rush forward and collect the data.]

*As a precaution, Jin lets Veemon evolve into Sorcermon, who positions himself to have a clear shot at the area around both Jin and Roze.*

Keep a little bit of distance. If he manages to attack us, it will be best if only one of us is in his line of fire so the other can still complete the mission.

*With that warning, he runs off toward the Dark Field, taking full advantage of his height and agility to move as fast as he can.*

[ Roze bristled visibly at being told to stay back, though less because of Jin's casual order and more because she knew it was sensible. This world didn't allow for her to be useful. Not really, not in the ways she understood.

Puffing her cheeks and making an audible sound if discontent, she twitches a nod and taps a finger impatiently against her device, wondering if she should follow after the fact or if only one of them needed to accomplish the collection.

It was a small comfort, at least, that Kotemon looked equally disappointed and frustrated, large yellow eyes squinting irritably, practice sword tapping on the ground beside him in time to Roze tapping her finger on the device. ]

[hootmons]

[Myotismon wrestles with BlackWargreymon, but the Mega is not letting up. The decaying Digimon does get a chance to fire off a Grisly Wing, sending bats flying about the battlefield, and then it's close combat Crimson Lightning keeps BlackWargreymon from getting them all.

As such, bats fly for both Jin and Roze.]

Jin!

*Sorcermon dashes toward Jin to push him out of the way, but takes the edge of the attack himself. He cries out in pain as he's hit and falls to the ground, as Jin looks back from where he fell.*

Sorcermon? No! We still need your help-

*And it's so similar to how his father died. Sacrificing himself to hold off the enemy, while Jin himself couldn't do anything to save him. But this time, there's nothing he can do against the one responsible. No, there has to be something he can do...

Though he shows no sign of his anger and frustration, his crest and digivice know. With a flare of light from both, the injured Sorcermon glows.*

Sorcermon evolve to...

Wisemon!

*The new digimon stands, wings flared, and raises one hand with an orb floating above it.*

Pandora Dialogue!

*Myotismon's attack stops a split second before it would have hit Roze or Kotemon, then reverses directions and darts toward Myotismon at high speed.*

[ Reflex had Roze reaching for her katana even as Kotemon leaped in front of her, his bamboo sword raised at the ready to defend her, cross though it made the girl. Both of them poised for combat, the didn't expect the sudden change, nor the interception. ]

Holy ever-lovin' crap, what the hell just happened? [ She shouted, wheeling around to look at Jin before reaching down and grabbing the collar of Kotemon's coat, taking off at a run. ]

Lady Roze! There is a battle to be fought! The creat--

I don't give a good God damn! We're gettin' this information and gettin' the heck out. I can't fight here and you're gonna get toasted. you see what those guys are doin'? That's not playin' games, K-man. That's for real! Let's GO already.

[hootmons]

[That's not something Myotismon expects-- well, if a mindless infected Digimon can expect anything. The bats zoom back and terrorize their master, and BlackWargreymon takes the opportunity to hit it with an uppercut, knocking...well, it's entire jaw off.]

[betrayalcutsdeep]

*Jin stands up, hiding a wince as his ankle flares with pain, and then takes off at a run of his own. The fall was painful, but he can't stop now.

Wisemon hovers between Myotismon and the pair of humans, watching curiously.*

How strange...the power difference here should be such that BlackWarGreymon should be able to destroy the Myotismon with ease. And yet they're fighting roughly equally. This Scope Virus as such unusual qualities...

[ Kotemon and Roze hurry along, Roze only dropping the little guy when she was fairly certain he could catch up and close the space between them as she fumbled with the device and tried to remember to precise directions.

Kotemon stands back-to-back with her as she works, his practice sword raised defiantly in defensive stance, large glowing eyes narrow as he watches everything, determined to learn every move, watch for any weakness. He was as much a warrior as Roze, regardless of his size, and he would prove it, first opportunity he got. ]
