[After the hustle and bustle of the Damemon parade, it was no surprise that Kyouko felt like she needed a little time to herself.]

[One of the other Digimon had mentioned the existence of a library over the D-Terimnal network a few days ago, and although Kyouko had located it and flipped through a few of its books, she certainly hadn't finished her search for answers through the various texts. Most of the books were useless. . . cookbooks, fictional novels, text books, things that she could easily find back in her own world, and none of them explained anything about the Digital World, its inhabitants, or what strange force may have brought the Chosen Children to Terminal Tokyo in such large numbers. Still. . . after nearly a week and a half in the Digital World, she couldn't give up.]

[As such, on this particular afternoon, Kyouko was seated in a chair in the corner of the library, a stack of books piled on the ground next to her, one propped open in her lap. She was reading quietly, while Labramon, coiled with pent up energy, paced next to her chair.]

Kyoukooooo can we go do something else? I'm soooooooo bored. . .! I want to go adventuring! We still haven't been outside the city!

Patience is a virtue, Labramon. [The girl answered without looking up from her book.]

[With a frustrated sigh, Labramon flopped onto the ground next to the book pile, crossed her paws in front of her, and rested her muzzle on top of them.]

Soooooo boooooored. . .

...hey, you don't think this library isn't originally from the digital world, do you?

I mean, you remember that note from before. If there's nothing about the digimon here, it might be part of Tokyo.

That was one of my hypotheses. It would explain why none of the books talk about the Digital World.

It makes the most sense to me... So I started reading the occult section after the first hour. [He holds up his current book, it's about ancient pagan rituals and cultures.] It's really interesting.

Well. . . I suppose if you're not learning anything about the Digital World specifically, you're still broadening your horizons in some ways.

Always! I was a Mage back home, and I was pretty strong too.. But I liked this stuff way before them, and how often do you get a chance to learn about how magic works in other universes? Like, did you know there's a guy here who draws magical power out of magical rocks?

[His tone is reminiscent of a kid in a candy shop.]

A mage?

[Slight skepticism, though it's mixed with curiosity]

You're not a self-proclaimed dark mage, are you?

Nah, I use a lot of elemental magic. I guess darkness is included with it, but that's mostly for things like gravity manipulation and vaccumes.

Why, d-did I look like one?

No, but there someone here who does call himself a dark mage. He's a rather interesting character.

[If "interesting" was the word to describe it]

Ah... Well, I'm sure he's actually a good person. Just about everyone is.

I don't think "good" or "bad" factors into it. He is who he is, for better or worse.

...that's another way of looking at it, yeah. I guess people can't be always broken up into good or bad. [Even his friends sometimes did bad things, after all. Heck, even he did from time to time.]

Either way, what's important is that we all get along as friends.

He didn't seem like the sort of person who made friends easily.

I'm sure he has his good points, though. Everyone does. Right? You just have to look for them.

Like you're really smart and dedicated, for example. And Guilmon's energetic and strong.

You're the optimistic type, aren't you?

Pretty much. There's too much that's good about the world not to be.

There's much about the world that's dark and painful, too.

But I suppose I'm simply not the foolishly optimistic or honest type.

No, you're right. There's a lot of bad, terrible things that happen in the world. But if you let yourself focus on all of the bad, then it can overwhelm you and drive you crazy.

Besides, for every time something painful happens, there's always something good that happens after, right?

Definitely. That's why I'm going to save this world, my world, and any other world that I end up in in between! So that everyone can have a lot more good times!

It's difficult to save this world when we have no idea what's happening.

But the task may be easier if we all work together, right?

Definitely! Even if we don't all have a complete picture of what's happening, enough pieces from enough people will make a full image.

[nods]

Precisely. Most individuals I've spoken with seem more than eager to pool our resources.

Great! That makes getting everyone on the same page easier, and then once we're all working as a team there won't be any disaster too big for us to solve together!

Let's hope your optimism remains, then.

It will. It definitely will! No matter what, I won't stop believing in everyone. [If there's one thing he wants to make clear it's that.]
