[The night air was still, so the sounds of heavy panting echoed louder than they should have. This is bad, the thought bounced back and forth through his mind, as Rider most likely already found his location. She could find him even without sight, yet here he was unable to find her with that sense intact. She was waiting for him to slip.]
[Focus. Focus. The round ends when one of them lands an attack, and the score still read zero for him. This was the fourth try tonight, and though this is the longest he's lasted, his partner wasn't going to give him another shot.]
[Fixing his gaze north, Gabumon jumped out from cover and darted through the darkness.]
Petite- [He readied his attack the moment she came into view. That's it! This was the first attack he's been able to pull off. He was going to..get...her...] Fire!
[Gabumon closed his eyes the moment of release, the shot of blue flame soaring through the air. He did it...right?]
[When he opened his eyes, Rider was gone, the fire hitting the tree and nothing else.] Wai- [Rider was behind him, and before he could say or do anything else, the woman kicked the digimon onto the ground. It was over like that.]
That's enough. We're done for today. [With that, Rider was already prepared to leave with that. Gabumon, on the other hand-]
W-wait! We've barely started! I can do this!
[He couldn't see them, but Gabumon could feel her gaze fixed solely on him through that blindfold of hers. It was a cold feeling.] The objective was to land a single strike. You are exhausted. The longer we continue, the more exhausted you will become. That defeats the point of this training. Go home and rest. [And again, Rider had no intention of continuing. But Gabumon wasn't ready.]
But I almost had it that time! I just needed one hit, right? And I...almost... [He did almost have the point, Rider was allowing him to have it. But he closed his eyes. He couldn't watch the attack land. Not against her-]
You are worried about attacking me despite my instructions, thus you hesitate in the critical moment. [And she had already deduced that weakness of his. Each session was to improve his capabilities, stealth, tracking, ending a fight before it even begins. Yet he always slips on the last, and stomping her foot down on Gabumon's back, she was going to hammer that point home.] Do the same any place else, and you are begging to die. [Gabumon was eager to fight for Rider, and with her own powers stripped, she has no choice but to let him. With word of something wrong spreading throughout the city, it was evident Gabumon wasn't ready to do what may be necessary.] If you hold an advantage, use it. [Removing her foot, Rider turned from Gabumon again, hopefully for the last time.] I will not die that easily.
[2.]
[Another night, still dark because- well- that seems to be most of Rider's haunting hour. Her room at the apartment is only ever used for a few hours of sleep during the day. Human bodies were annoying hinderances, but Rider had observed their needs back in her time as a Servant. She wasn't entirely incapable of adapting.]
[Still didn't change how annoying it was.]
[Rider wasn't under any orders here. There were Masters, but neither commanded her. So what does she do with this freedom? She continues on, scouting, listening to information, and so on. If Sakura arrived, then Rider could better protect her Master. Yes, this was all she could do.]
[So for those who happen to pass by, you may feel the odd sensation of someone watching. Or-]
Master? [Find a lost Gabumon, looking for his partner.]

[2] The streets near Tokyo Tower
Another night back in the city and Jinx was still feeling off balance.
Despite walking out of "The Digital Dive Bar" Jinx wasn't drunk. No her sense of unease came from how everyone was acting lately. Worse yet none of them seemed to acknowledge they were behaving differently no matter how often everyone around them pointed it out.
"Am I any different?" She wondered out loud. A sleepy mumble from her shoulder bag was Noir's contribution to the conversation.
Of course she had just spent weeks hiking through the wilderness on her own with barely any food. That was enough to effect anyone. But she still felt like she was doing everything the way she should.
Feeling an aching need in her limbs she stretches her arms out and raced up a lamp post with skill and ease. Perching on the top she launched into space.
There was a moment of weightlessness. Her stomach flipping wildly as it tried to find purchase. When her shoes connected with the rooftop of a nearby building it settled and she felt her heart starting to pick up the pace. Fresh blood flowing in her veins began to wake up her senses.
A nice jog would help settle her troubled mind. And so she set off leaping from rooftop to rooftop with near silent landings each time. A pink haired ghost dancing among the stars.
Little did she know her performance was being observed.

Rider wasn't watching the performance so much, but she gathered most of what she needed to from sound: the voice and sounds of footsteps. A girl, teenager, acrobatic, carrying extra weight. She had skill as far as humans went, but for Rider, traversing rooftops was hardly a feat.
A wonder, what was she doing up here? Perhaps with waiting, Rider would have an answer.

Lighting on a taller building with a gorgeous view of Tokyo Tower Jinx paused and let the blood singing through her veins refresh her. The mood had shifted now and she was feeling alive. Frisky and playful she did a few stretches letting her leg twist up behind her neck so she was balanced precariously on one foot high above the pavement.
All it would take would be an errant breeze to knock her off. And the thrill sent shivers through her.
She let her eyes wander the landscape around her, gliding over shadow and stone. Something rotten was festering within the city and after so much time on her own she could hardly ignore an opportunity to be active and social.

Further observation did reveal something else about the target. The girl was a thrill seeker, someone unusual compared to the normal human. Unusual yes, though that could apply to many things in this city. Would the girl prove to be interesting was yet to be determined.

She was moving towards the housing complex where most everyone without a crest lived. Slowing, and then stopping, her eyes drawn by a particular store.
As the city had rebuilt itself, Digimon were opening new businesses every day. This particular one had only been open a month but Jinx had been admiring it before the Data Stream stole her away.
A jewelry store, simple design. A nice selection of sparkling items. And according to the Datamon who ran it? A state of the art security system.
Oh how it tempted her! But what use did she have for gems and stones right now? She would look pretty yes but she'd have to hide them. There was little black market in the city and she was pretty easy to spot.
Still she could admire them. She leap from one lamp post to the next crossing the street and look down into the display window from above.
Light as a feather she lit on the roof of the building, casually strolling about it taking in all the details. The heating duct, the power box. An old fashioned antenna for who knows what...
no subject
Was that what the girl was planning? Whether she went through with it or not, Rider had no intentions of interfering either way.

Down behind the building now, kicking off the walls of the alley she landed with barely a sound in front of the back door. A simple lock. All she needed was her lockpicks...
Something was off. She could feel it now. Something more familiar then what she was feeling earlier. Like when she was waiting in the interrogation room at juvie. It made the back of her neck prickle and her stomach knot up.
Trying to act natural she studied the door more then she needed, keeping her senses open.
no subject
Do you feel someone judging you Jinx? GOOD.Though the girl made the dismount, Rider kept to higher ground, watching from above. It made remaining undetected much easier, plus the vantage point. Rider remained an observer, though the girl couldn't remain oblivious forever. Curious what Rider's actions should be if that time ever came.
no subject
And waited.
The feeling didn't leave.
Logically there were only a few places she could be watched in this position. Either end of the alley. A few darkened windows from the back of another building. Or the roof she came from.
Rising up to her feet she turned gracefully and let her eyes chart out a path before she set off. Onto the dumpster first, spring off the lid to kick off the wall onto a window ledge. Then up onto a fire escape platform before one last strong jump to catch the edge of the building and haul herself up.
Finally a quick spin to try and spot the eyes that she felt burrowing into her from somewhere.
Where were they? Who were they?
no subject
However, she was wrong about eyes watching. Those who observe don't always rely on sight.
Those who roamed at night needed a certain keen awareness, and Rider was now left with the choice whether to reward the girl for noticing or not. Rider had already lost after all, as her location had been discovered. Given her age, it would have been kinder to let the girl have this.
But then, exactly how far was this girl willing to go?
In the time the girl spent to get to the roof, Rider had already gotten a head start, crossing across rooftops. Though she muffled her leaps as much as she could, no one is completely silent in a chase.
no subject
she was off like a bolt from an arrow racing after Rider with the grace and speed she had demonstrated before. She had to push harder and faster though if she wanted to close the space between them before she had a chance to hide.
Who were they? She'd never seen someone who looked like this around town. Were they knew?
2; somewhere between the marketplace and the apartments idk
[Waver stopped at hearing the Digimon's voice, frowning as he took a few seconds to place it. That was the other Rider's partner, right? He knelt down closer to Gabumon's eye level and set aside the armful of books he'd been carrying.]
You're her partner, aren't you? Did you get separated or something?
no subject
Oh? You're that human Master was talking to! Hello! [One of the only humans she's made any effort to talk to really. Not the person he was looking for, but a familiar face was a good start.] Yes we did. Actually...Master seems to goes off on her own a lot. [His voice drops a little at that thought.]
no subject
She didn't mention anything about where she was going?
no subject
Shh, not yet.]Waver! That's right. And my name is Gabumon. [No nickname like the others he'd seen, but it didn't seem to bother him. Rider even addressing by that was something of progress.] Not a word. [See?] It's never the same. Sometimes she comes back with books, sometimes she's gone for a whole day or two.
no subject
Huh...I wonder. Maybe she's scouting the area...? She does seem the type to be a little stuck in combat mode.
no subject
no subject
What I'm trying to say is she's probably someone conditioned to fight. I'd guess that's just what feels natural and normal to her. I wouldn't take it personally.
no subject
[Rider certainly did not like talking about herself, her life before, anything. The most he's learned was through the conversation he was allowed to sit through. From their training, he knew she had experience. No, he shouldn't tale it personally. Still hurts though.]
I wonder...if that's why Master won't tell me about herself. Or why she won't let me see her real face...
no subject
As it stands, I guess she's just a private sort of person.
no subject
M-Rider! I've been looking for you!
[Even if she was annoyed at their conversing behind her back, she showed no signs of it. Gabumon was just relieved to find her safe and safe.] My time in the Grail War, my identity is already known to those in participation. Your knowledge of it would change nothing. [Does that mean she's flat out telling? No. Not at all.]
no subject
[Waver fell to the side and scrambled back with an undignified half-shriek, knocking over the small pile of books he'd set aside.]
I-I-I--
no subject
My apologies. I did not intend to startle you. [At least, not that much.]
no subject
[Deep breaths, Waver.]
I wasn't trying to talk about you behind your back or anything, I just w-was worried about your partner.
no subject
Sorry! It was my fault. Don't be mad at Waver.
The two of you were merely having a conversation. [Not like she wasn't listening the whole time anyway. She could have and did stop it at any time.] Though, you shouldn't need to trouble yourself with concern for my partner. [Gabumon was her partner after all.]
2; outside the apartments cause she's still too skiddish to go too far
Except the moment she's called Master, she turns her head in shock. ]
Lanc---er, you're not Lancer. [ Kind of looks like a wolf all the same. ] Sorry, I'm not used to Digimon calling other people Master.
aww poor rin
Oh, no sorry. I was looking for my partner. I wasn't trying to confuse you. [Disappointed girl. Have to do something about that.] Besides, Rider doesn't seem to like me calling her that.
no don't feel sorry for her LMAO....
Then why do you call her that? If she doesn't like it, you should call her by someone she does like.
