Who: Maya, Cam, and the rest of ya'll.
What: A BIRTHDAY PARTY EXTRAVAGANZA okay no it's not an extravaganza, it's actually just a party for Cam's birthday.
When: December 5th.
Where: Cafeteria area.

At ridiculous o'clock on the morning of December 5th, Maya enlisted Hyokomon and Strabimon to help her tape invitations on anyone and everyone's door. All of the invitations were hand-written, although they seemed to be in three or four different handwritings, and they all said exactly the same thing:

YOU'RE INVITED TO CAM'S BIRTHDAY PARTY
TODAY AT 1PM IN THE CAFETERIA

In retrospect, there were definitely easier ways of inviting the whole city to a party but Maya didn't care. This way meant that only dedicated people would show up to the party. Maybe. That was Maya's hope, anyway. She didn't usually mind being around people, but the fact that she was performing a song she'd written for Cam was kind of. Embarrassing. She'd done it before, at Battle of the Bands, but that had been decidedly less personal than "Jersey Boy." As in "the song she never showed to anyone."

Most of the party preparations had been handled by Neku, because funnily enough freshman band geeks don't plan that many parties, and Maya was eternally grateful to him for it. Mostly because she'd been working nonstop on the stupid song and there wouldn't be much of a party if she'd had to plan it. If her plan failed miserably, then at least there was food. And probably the people here were less gossipy than the kids at Degrassi, so the whole city wouldn't know she'd made a fool of herself.

A girl could hope, right?

"He's gotta be around here somewhere, come on!"

Enthusiastically, Lucette grabs Fluttershy's hand and begins to drag her.

She gives a surprised noise, stumbling a little before catching herself and following Lucette.

"O-Oh...A-All right..."

It doesn't take long to find Cam, who's nibbling on some cake near the stage. Lucette's still pulling Fluttershy along, humming lightly. Still holding the bag, she waves to her partner and whistles loudly. He turns his head with a raised eyebrow.

"You know, I'm not...actually a dog."

"Oh, hush, Campbell! Fluttershy's here to wish you a happy birthday!"

Fluttershy blushes, smiling a little in embarrassment. "U-Um...h-hi. H-Happy birthday...

The pink-haired girl, from months ago. ...With wings, so it seems! Cam smiles lightly. "Uh, thanks. Fluttershy. Yeah, thanks."

Honestly, had Lucette not said her name, he wouldn't have remembered it.

She nods a little. "Y-You're welcome...I-I um...I brought something...for you..."

She gestures to the bag Lucette was currently holding.

He nearly replies, you shouldn't have, but then he remembers, oh right, his birthday, that's a really stupid thing to say. Lucette hands him the bag, finally letting go of Fluttershy.

"Thanks! Uh, d'you mind if I open it, or...?

She blushes. "I-If you...you'd like to. I-It isn't much, but...I hope you'll like it..."

He pulls out both the scarf and hat and grins. "Well, that's great! Look, I live where it gets really cold back home, the importance of a good hat and scarf? Vastly underrated. Thanks, I mean it."

She smiles. "Th-That's good...I'm glad it's all right."

Nearby, Choco beamed. "She made it herself!"

"Really?" He lightly tugs at the scarf, which is secure. "Cool!"

"Yeah! She knits!"

Fluttershy's still blushing a bit. "I-It's...just a hobby..."

"Well, you're good at it."

It's too warm to wear them now, but Cam does briefly try the hat before removing it again.

"I'll make good use of these when it gets colder. ...If it does."

She smiles, tucking some of her hair behind her ear. "Th-Thank you..."

She nodded; the weather was still pretty nice. There could be a chance that the items wouldn't be necessary. "I hope it will be useful for you."

After a moment, Cam says, "You didn't have to make something for someone you barely know, ya know. I appreciate it."

"W-Well...it is your birthday...and birthdays are meant to be special."

"...Did you do this all today?"

She blushes again, rubbing her arm. "I-It...it was rather last minute..."

"And it's still this good?" he says with disbelief.

"She knits pretty fast!"

With a sense of finality, Cam declares, "Then you know, that's even cooler."

He changes gears, because honestly, if he has a chance to, he'll brag about Maya any time. "Did you catch the band playing?
