[So after (Or maybe still during, what do I know?!) thoroughly discussing Ed's ridiculous love life much to his chagrin, there still is a very important thing for the intrepid duo of explorers to do:]

[Ed, for his part, is leading the way through the mountains with a Kyubimon ready nearby for protection.]

W-well... at least the weather's nice?

I mean, we could just make sure it's only used for stuff like protecting the city.

Right, let's just start a little super hero headquarters for all the hero types. If you're lucky, you can ride a vending machine out into the next dark field.

[ Isn't he grateful for this friendly banter? ] It doesn't seem that dangerous out here so far.

[You have no idea how much he missed it. IN FACT, he laughs.]

I guess I could, huh? If I run into a vending machine, I'll have exact change right on hand!

As for the danger... well, it comes and it goes. Eventually we'll probably run into some kind of digimon. If we're lucky, they won't mind having us around.

--And if they don't, I suppose Lunamon can earn her stripes.

[ The poor Digimon is perking up from her safe distance away. ] You ready to fight, Lunamon? I bet you could make some poor wild Digimon wet themselves.

Haha... careful now, Rin. If it comes to it, I'd rather I get hurt than Kyubimon.

Contract holder, that would kill you.

No, it would freeze me for six hours. You're the one it'd kill. [Giving her a scratch behind the ear.]

And nobody is hurting my digimon.

Oh, it's kind of cute that you think I'd allow that to happen.

[ Listening in. ] Anyway, don't you think it's up to them to fight for us? That's what they enjoy doing for the most part... Isn't it?

They can fight... but if I don't make use of myself as a one-time aegis then I'm doing them a disservice.

And I don't think any of us are going to get hurt. It just might happen, and if it does that'd be bad.

Hey shortstuff, doesn't it annoy you when your partner talks about getting himself hurt instead of you? It's all right to speak up now that I'm asking you specifically.

[ Leave it to Rin to get in-between a Digimon and their partner. ]

[Kyubimon clears her throat.]

Regardless, as a servant of darkness it falls to me to ensure that my contract holder does not suffer any harm. For such a thing to come about would mean a failing in my duties. This is not acceptable, as it would lead to a breach in our contract, and possibly unmake the entire universe itself as the cursed virus sealed under my scarf could have a chance to escape.

[Ed takes a moment to translate that from Kyubimon to English.]

I think he means 'he wouldn't like it if I get hurt.'

Geez, you're both are in the same situation. Who would have thought it?

[ Pausing, the looks towards her own partner that's known her for a while. ] Lunamon, what do you think? Do you want to get hurt in my place?

No, um, I would rather it would um... [ The poor thing nervously hides her face behind one of her ears. ] Sorry, the question was?

--So there you have it.

...yeah.

I guess in a perfect world, nobody gets hurt by anything.

[Staring back up at the change machine.]

So... we going to go grab that thing and break it down for parts?

... Sure, why not?

[ It gives them something to do and Rin gets to break something. It's a win win situation. ]

Alright then! Kyubimon, can you get that down?

[The fox tilts her head to the side, then hops up the mountain quickly to take a look at it. After a moment she gently places a paw on the machine to test how stuck it is...]

[It wasn't actually stuck at all, just improbably balanced as it turns out. SO hey there's a change machine falling down a cliff at us GOOD FOR YOU KYUBIMON YOU DID A THING!!]

[ It might be a good idea to shove the idiot out of the way.

She doesn't even have a chance to consider not doing so at the speed it falls, so here comes the greatest thing Ed will ever feel in his lifetime: a hot girl's hands all over his chest as she tries to tackle them away. ]

[This actually seems distressingly familiar, though the fact that you're not trying to harass him is welcome.]

[Also you're not a half-demon (dont ask). BUT YES ED GOES TOPPLING TO THE GROUND AS RIN TACKLES HIM, and then the machine lands on the ground where they were standing. NICE KNOWING YOU MACHINE. it is now a pile of scrap.]

Geez... that was close.

[ Just going to rest her head against him now while trying to not appear as if that exerted her (which it did). Pacing her breaths and everything as she punches his shoulder lightly. ]

Next time wait until we move?

[Yes well I'm going to be busily thinking about something other than CLOSE PROXIMITY OF GIRL. ~~A feat which he is normally very very bad at.~~]

Y-yeah. Next time we'll move, and then Kyubimon can push things. Hahaha--well, at least we know now, right?

[ Never fear, it doesn't last that long. Soon she's shoving herself off of him and brushing the dirt off of her boots. ]

Think there's any part of it left?

[th-thank goodness. Standing up and rubbing his head, that landing was rough.]

Maybe... we should go look to see if any of it survived, or if it's all just shrapnel and steel now.

[Much to the credit of the casing, though, the innards of the machine are still quite salvageable!]

[ She's not exactly gentle when trying to make sure he doesn't end up flattened and glitched out for a few hours. ]

Yeah, let's get to it. You any good at engineering yourself?

Only if magic's involved. I can take apart and put together all sorts of spells people've never even heard of, but I'm no good at techie stuff.

Mylene always handled that. [Man she'd be useful right now. Even if she is more grating than even Rin.]

[ Rin and her would likely buddy up pal, so stop thinking like that. ]

Great, so your only skill is nearly dying. I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

[ Dropping to her knees and digging through for circuit boards as well as a few other choice items. Just whatever she can get. ]

Ever build a computer?

[...oh god NO that would be terrifying.]

I have a lot of other skills too...!

[Ed attempts to help scrounge through for things that look like what Rin is grabbing.]

Though, I've never built a computer. I once had to put together a house though.

A house? [ Then why isn't he back in the city helping with the rebuild? ] Was it actually habitable or did you build it for looks?

[ She's joking really... ]

It was habitable. The plumbing was really hard to get down, and so was the electric wiring...

Ahh, but I guess building stuff with magic isn't really applicable to this place. [ahaha... ha.]
