[Open] A Very Kratt-y Birthday

What: Celebrating Martin Kratt's birthday!

The night before had been spent getting the decorations up for the party, with Chris and Fluttershy and anyone else who had offered to help while Martin had been sleeping, in order to keep the whole party a surprise for him.

Fluttershy could only hope that all her experiences with Pinkie Pie's parties would help her make sure this one was successful. After all Chris and Martin had done for her recently, helping make Martin's birthday a special one was the least she could do.

[Lucette hurries over; she'll find out, either way, as she's eating everything up.

He chuckles at Lucette. Now there's a healthy appetite.]

Help yourself. H'looks like Fluttershy pulled out all the stops with the catering.

I hadn't even told anybody about my birthday, h'much less expect a party. Pretty sure I've got my bro to thank for letting my birthday slip.

We need more parties around here. ...Not that I'll go all of 'em, but, it's nice, for lifting spirits, ya know?

Hah, Chris has a habit of doing that too; Losing track of his birthday.

[Martin had a really good memory for birthdays and important events. He hadn't forgotten his own birthday, so much as he'd figured with all the reconstruction and recovery efforts that those needed to take precedent. Apparently, someone (or a couple of someone's) had disagreed.

He grins.]

H'I couldn't agree more. Especially after all the hard work everyone's been doing to re-build the city, it'd be nice to give 'em all a chance to kick back and relax awhile.

It's gonna be Christmas soon. [It's...a venture, a thought, more than anything.] I know some people here don't really celebrate, but...maybe just... Something 'cause we've made it through the year.

[His smile is a bit sad-- or wistful, nostalgic. Cam thinks about home, he thinks about his mother and father - the only time he's home for more than a week - and his siblings, thinks of their intimate family celebrations.

Damn. He's been trying not to think about all that.]

[In inverse to Martin Nala is picking through things to find the savory foods, and a few times even makes rather comical faces at having put something very sweet in her mouth.]

[He raises an eyebrow, more amused intrigued by the faces she keeps pulling, than her picking through the foods.]

Trying new things or looking for something in particular?

[Just as he speaks she pops another piece of food in her mouth... and has an expression like a cat that just had wasabi... except what she had eaten was a sweet treat, so it shouldn't be spicy.]

I am trying new things... I am sorry, I don't mean to be rude. I just am not sure what each human food tastes like til I try it... and my tastes do not seem to match most humans.

Hah, that's not rude at all. Trying new things is fun!

[He looks at her a little curiously.]

H'I'm guessing you're a little like Fluttershy then? You weren't a human before you came here?

[He's admittedly really interested about those who weren't human before they came here.]

Fluttershy... um I believe I am somewhat alike to her. I am unsure what she was before here, but I was a Lioness.

That is why the foods are so strange to me, I am used to meat. Sweet things are still... a bit much for me.

[Watch him do a double-take at that.]

Hah'a lioness, for real?!

[Suddenly this party is like 500 kinds more awesome. And it was already pretty awesome to start with.]

H'no wonder all the party foods here keep surprising ya.

[He's pretty sure lions, and most other felines, can't naturally taste "Sweet" things to start with. Having human taste receptors must be an experience.]

That's amazing though! Lions are such incredible creatures.
