Who: People in the Defenders group and the Divers
What: The Rescue of Taichi turns sour!
When: 24-26 April
Where: The new anomaly outside of Primary Village
The Trailmon to File Island left hours ago. Twenty-one people were aboard and split their separate ways at a terminal close to the Village. Some went to protect the young Digimon while most of the others had a mission at hand: rescuing the brave--or perhaps foolish-- Taichi Yagami.
No Digimon seems to be around as group approaches the field. It as Taichi said, too, full of bright colors and random numbers. The size isn't great, so one must wonder how a boy got lost in there. Or perhaps you're unable to think on that when you realize how still everything is.
No wind seems to pass and no sound can be heard.
Whatever's going on, it can't be normal for the Digital World either, can it?
[[OOC: So here's how this will work! We will give you guys a few rounds to get set up. This is so that you can get in your groups. During this time the Divers will also be roped up and sent on their way. For this we're going to need you guys to be a little speedy at first. Ideally, we will be putting up the Diving/Battling threads at NO LATER THAN 8:30 A.M. CST Thursday. They may go up earlier if we feel everyone is situated!
Several threads will go up then-- one for the Divers for which we will be putting our focus on (Divers, if you want to get started early since you don't have much coordinating to do let us know!).
The Digimon you will be fighting will also make their appearance! Please note it will take several hours after the Divers take their leave that the Digimon will appear. We will introduce these Digimon and explain the mechanics of their behavior, but wil not be playing them unless requested/necessary.
The Divers should all be pulled out by midnight on the 26th.
Good luck! If you have any questions please let us know.]]

The voice rang for what must have been the millionth time. Memories kept running through his mind... a young blonde girl laughing at him as he cried. Telling him he deserved it.
Being beaten up by a person he thought was his friend.
The world blowing up. An atomic bomb's explosion. Fighting. Dying. Pointlessly fighting and dying.
Haha. Why was he even here? NO. That wasn't right--he knew why he was here.
He was here for Taichi. He was here because he had to rescue Taich--"You actually felt sympathy? I gotta hand it to you, Ed. You're the biggest idiot I've ever met."
Ed cried out as he felt the gouging feeling again. He fell forward and caught himself on his hands, staring at nothing--the ground. He crawled forward still, feeling nothing but pain. There were scratches all over his body and they burned. His heart felt empty... something was missing, but he couldn't place what. He remembered a war he'd never seen. More senseless violence. Being beaten down and crushed underfoot by someone he'd thought was a friend for trying to protect the wounded.]
...I don't want to remember...
[The memories didn't stop though. Every time a 'friend' had led him into a trap, a classmate had asked him to borrow money for 'really the last time' and said they'd pay it back (they never did). Every time he'd been beaten up, thrown through a wall, had things dropped on him. Every happy memory he'd ever had with his sister when she showed up once a year for his birthday--how hollow they all felt now, now that he realized he had been the only one who cared at all.
"WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING SO STUPID?!"
He wasn't sure the voice was talking about believing his sister anymore.
...He couldn't take it anymore. The pain was too much. The numbness, the hollow feeling that was caking in his heart. This place... He didn't like this place at all. Still, there was one thing this field couldn't control. Him.
All at once he forced himself to laugh, yelling as loud as he can in hopes that someone, anyone would be able to hear it.]
Well! It's d-definitely a good thing th-that I came in here after all! I was right! I w-was absolutely right! [If the place was going to just get worse and worse, he just had to get more and more optimistic. There was always a bright side!] I d-d-d-definitely don't want a-any of my friends coming in here! They'd get really... REALLY hurt a-and I wouldn't want that to happen to any of them!
[The voices kept hitting him. He just yelled louder.] It doesn't matter if I feel hollow or not! I-It doesn't matter how I feel! My friends are depending on me! If I'd f-fight when I was sick, o-or if I'd fight when I was feeling sad... then I wouldn't stop now! I WON'T STOP NOW! SHUT UP!
["You're going to fail. You always screw everyth--"]
SHUT UP SHUT UP JUST SHUT THE HELL UP! I am really sick and tired of listening to you! You are just a bunch of memories and feelings that are trying to make me feel terrible about stuff and I don't want to do it anymore!
[The memories, the scratches, it didn't stop, but if nothing else he was able to focus enough to move forward.] You know what?! I'm going to sing a song! YEAH! I'm going to pick some stupid song and I'm going to sing it the entire rest of the way forward because you are a giant, dimensional buttface! And if you don't like it? BITE ME!
[The field seemed to oblige, as Ed felt another chunk of him go missing... a tearing across his shoulder--like something had skinned it.]
Oh ha ha, VERY FUNNY! [The images didn't stop, but even as they went through his brain Ed forced them out, forcing himself to instead sing some kind of tuneless FIGHT ON song that looped endlessly.
He was tired, he was hurt and he was sad, but so long as he drew breath nothing was gong to stop him.]

"YOU ARE NOT MY SON."
But when you hear something enough, sometimes you start to believe it. That and other memories hit Hiccup in waves, each new one worse than the last. He could hardly concentrate, and each step sent a shock through his entire body, the searing burns from before throbbing with pain. His knees trembled and sweat beaded on his brow as image after image threw itself at him.
He could see the reflection of his face contorted with anger in Toothless' eye as he held a dagger high up over his head, his mouth working silently as he spoke words that he'll never forget.
"I'm gonna kill you dragon. I'm gonna...I'm gonna cut out your heart and take it to my father. I'm a Viking. I am a VIKING!"
That's right. He was the one who had maimed Toothless in the first place, and had nearly killed him in cold blood.
"..I did this."
More memories. They all tumbled together, some familiar, all of wars. Some he'd never even seen before in his life, but the destruction and heartache was all the same.
Toothless chained up, left on a burning ship to die. Fire, nothing but fire and smoke that didn't exist, even though outside of Hiccup's own mind he was coughing and choking as if he were physically trapped in a burning building. Then, a sudden pain exploded at the base of his missing leg, as if he were losing it all over again. His entire body trembled but somehow he managed to stay upright, his breath coming in choked gasps.
More memories.
"For once in your life, would you please just LISTEN to me!?"
Out of nowhere, a pain rocks Hiccup like none other, lights exploding in front of his eyes as he's finally sent tumbling to the pitch black ground. It feels as if someone beat the side of his head with a club, shoving him away. He tasted copper in his mouth as he choked, dimly aware of the blood dripping from his mouth from seemingly nowhere at all.
"You've thrown your lot in with them.
You're not a Viking.
You're not my son."]
No.....I am....I'm your son..
[He choked in a thin voice, his arms shaking as he pushed himself up. He could still see nothing but darkness, but he angled his head to the 'sky' regardless, feeling hot blood roll down his chin and neck. The burning sensation grew, and felt like it was spreading. On top of that his head throbbed from the previous blow. Nothing existed any more but pain.
And yet still, he gathered up the strength to raise his voice.]
I AM a Viking. Remember...?!
[After a long pause, Hiccup pushed himself back on his knee, then struggled back into a standing position. He swayed dangerously, but in spite of all the pain allowed a weak smirk to grow on his face. It would be hard to tell if it were from genuine strength or hysteria, at this point]
It....it's....a-an occupational hazard.
[Hiccup wanted nothing more than to just collapse here and let it end. Just let him die. Death would be such a sweet relief from this torture and agony. It felt like he'd been trapped in this Hell for years now. Centuries.
But...he wasn't here for himself. Something in the back of his mind was still there to remind him of that. He had to go rescue Taichi. For his team. For everyone stuck in this world. For Gomamon.
For himself.
So, defiantly, he took another step forwards, prosthetic first.
The pain that struck him in that instant was unimaginable, so great that he couldn't stop himself from throwing back his head and letting out a gutteral scream of agony. The entirety of his left side seemed to go numb for a split second, before being replaced by searing pain. He could barely hold his own weight up anymore. Every part of him felt like lead, as if someone had tied cement blocks to his arms and legs.
But he couldn't stop. Even if his leg (or legs) were broken, and his body was burnt, and his was head half caved in he would have to keep moving. For Taichi. Who knows.
What if all of this was just a nightmare anyway?
Hiccup wished it was.]

He didn't have many bad memories. Which made it worse. The area would just replay the battle between him and Mega over and over again. Constantly and unabated the single memory came to the forefront of his thoughts. Raw and unforgiving. He would throw electricity and thunderbolts at his brother. His brother would attack back, with his powerful buster. A deadly game of cat and mouse ensued.
The pain increased each time he was hit, till the final shot slammed him against the wall. His body near the point of disrepair. And at that part a new wound would appear on his body.
Guts Man's voice would appear again to mock him.
"Well, well...Elec Man. You're still a self-absorbed weakling..."
He clutched Flamemon's battered body closer to him, as pain flashed across his back. And took another step forward. Something was wrong. Something was missing. And he did not know what.
Another step further. Another memory. Digimon lead to the slaughter. Another scar on his body.
He tried to remember his mission. It was to save Taichi. Taichi who had been in here longer and was suffering more.
Another step forward. The voice again. He tried to ignore it, but he could not.
His next stop was a flattering one, causing him to drop Flamemon and falling to the floor.
The coolness of it felt good at first. But memories that weren't his appeared. Human killing each other. A scream. He could not place if it was from him or the memories.
He attempted to get up. The memory of his battle flashed by again. Another scratch on his face. He saw Flamemon after the pain pass.
A small source of strength appeared in him, as he groggily attempted to get up again.
Flamemon, he had attached to him quickly and the reason was simple.
The digimon reminded him of two of his brothers. He could not place who they were, his memory failing him, from the sheer pain and effect of this place. One was eccentric and a wannabe-hero, a bit of a hot-head, but he burnt brightly like the sun. The other a childish orange blur that was respectful to a fault, someone that was a joy to be around. It was a small comfort in this terrible place
A terrible landslide swallowing cars as it went down the mountain. Elec tried to push it aside as he slowly knelt down and picked up his digimon. Pain blazing through his arms as he found the strength to manage the task.
He had to save Taichi...So he took another step forward.
And once again the memory of his battle appeared to him. The cycle continuing as he kept moving forward.]

Then, a voice calls out plaintively.]
A...Agumon?
no subject
T--tch.. [He holds his head, nursing the bump he's just gotten.] Not Agumon... Taichi?
no subject
And uncermioniously trips onto the pile.]
What.
no subject
Yeah...that's me. [He coughs a little, throat dry from lacking water for several days.]
What...what're you guys doing here?
no subject
Grab on to us, we've got a rope that'll let us get back out of here as soon as we pull it.
no subject
Though he considered it a bit of a failure, due to how long it took him to find it and...that he was not the one to find Taichi first.]
no subject
Oh man... [The embarrassment in his voice is very obvious once it clicks.] Koushirou's never going to let me live this down.
[A thumping sound as his head drops back onto the floor. If any of them try to touch him and help him up, they'll find that his clothes are damp with blood in some places.]
I'm beat up pretty bad...I don't know if I can move. I don't want to leave Agumon behind either...
no subject
Elec... you grab onto him too, then we'll both pull on three. Okay?
no subject
Anything leaking that much liquid was in bad shape.]
Let's get out of this ghastly place.
no subject
Okay...let's go. [He stops.] Wait! Let's...wait outside until Agumon and your friend make it out. I'm not going back without him.
no subject
Then after a second he remembers that there isn't any way anyone could have seen it.]
Yeah. That sounds good. [He pulls his ropeas hard as he can muster.]
no subject
Whatever it is, it might be a good idea to be on your guard...]
no subject
So when Hiccup hears the noise he lifts his head slightly, trying his hardest to ignore its throbbing.]
.....h...hello?...
no subject
Taichi! [A high, gravelly voice calls out suddenly, sounding distressed.]
no subject
H-..hey...who's there? ...
no subject
A muzzle presses against Hiccup's leg, accompanied by clawed hands gripping at his trousers.]
Where's Taichi? [The thing asks miserably. A small flame puffs into existence just before Hiccup, though it doesn't provide enough light to see much more than a set of teeth and the mouth the flame came from before it fizzles out.]
no subject
He lets out a shaky breath before gently reaching down, placing his hands over the ones hanging onto him. His own voice comes out strained, and it hardly even sounds like him.]
D...don't worry. ..We're...we're looking for him. You're Agumon, right..?
[He leans down a bit more, trembling. It's a wonder he hasn't collapsed yet, but having found the Digimon has given him a bit of strength to press on regardless. Elecman and Ed must have found Taichi by now, so it was his job to get Agumon out safely.]
no subject
That's right. We came in together, but we got separated when something attacked us.
no subject
[No, never mind that. There would be plenty of time for questions later. Right now, he just needed to get Agumon out of here. With another shaky breath he looks over to Gomamon, who is barely standing himself.]
Grab hold of Agumon. We're getting out. Now.
[Then, with his grip tightening on Agumon slightly, he reaches down and tugs sharply on his rope once, signalling the others to pull him out.]
