A calm had swept over Terminal Tokyo, as the Chosen Children had successfully repel the Beemon attack and began to clean up their city. All was well and life would go on, though some scars would take a while to heal. But as the saying goes, there is no rest for the weary.

Another earthquake tore through the Digital World. One on the scale of the one that had brought so many of the current Chosen to the Digtal World. Once again, dozens of Chosen were making their way to the Digital World. Destiny was calling once more and so were their partners...

Every chute in the Terminal Room activated while the small Digimon known as Culumon trembled with excitement. There were so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners had arrived!

[Connor frowns. Does he think he's incapable of telling the time, or something?] No. It was today.

[Armadillomon pipes up.] Actually, Connor was here before for a few weeks, but he was bigger and older. Then he disappeared and showed up again today! He doesn't believe me, though...

I still do not know what you are talking about, Armadillomon.

Just ask Miss Hibiki! I didn't make it up. [Connor just makes an unconvinced face in response, as though to say, "Whatever you say."]

[That... was definitely weird, but at least it didn't sound like the Lotus Hotel. He still isn't really at ease, but he at least stops with the weird game of twenty questions.]

Sorry. My name's Percy, and this is... Crabmon. I guess. [It seemed weird that that was his name. Were there other Crabmons? Crabmen?

Whichever. Crabmon bobbed his head in greeting, which was kind of hard to do when your head was attached to the rest of your body.]

Nice to meet you. Sorry about that, Percy's sort of having a hard time adjusting.

[Which earns him a scowl from his partner.] You would too, if you were me.

Connor. This is Armadillomon. [Which he probably already gathered from their conversation, but Connor figures it's better to try to be polite. He holds out a hand for Percy to shake, hesitant; he isn't used to doing so.] Nice to meet you both, too.

So why the questions, Percy? Were you expecting a different answer?

[Percy hesitates too, but only because he's not really great at the whole manners thing, but he shakes his hand and manages a sort of awkward, semi-apologetic smile before glancing down at Armadillomon again.]

Not really? It's kind of a long story.

[Crabmon lets out a frustrated sigh.] That can't be your excuse for everything, Percy.

[Percy tries not to roll his eyes, weighing his options quickly. Connor had been brought here, too, and he could see the monsters, so it wasn't like this was the same as just telling some mortal kid about everything, which he'd kind of already done by accident anyway, when he'd slashed Riptide at that girl at the Hoover Dam.] Alright, so, there was this hotel I got stuck in once where time passed way slower than it did on the outside. I met this kid who looked like he was trying way too hard to be Elvis, I mean, he said groovy and everything- wait, sorry, [His history was kind of rusty, but he could guess that Connor maybe didn't know about that stuff from the way he was dressed.] Anyway, I just wanted to make sure something like that wasn't happening here. I still don't really know what's going on.

[The explanation only makes Connor look inquisitively from Percy to Armadillomon, hoping he might make more sense of it than Connor does. "Elvis"? "Groovy"?]

Um... Actually, Armadillomon told me this place is from the future. Where I am from, it is the 18th century.

[It's okay, Connor, Crabmon doesn't get any of it either. B(

And the 18th century is sort of out of Percy's sphere of knowledge besides vague facts about George Washington crossing the Delaware and stuff like that - or was that the 17th century? He could never keep that straight - but at least it kind of clears things up. Sort of.]

I guess that explains the outfit. [Wait, brain to mouth filter, Jackson.] Not that it's not cool or anything, it's just, you know. Way retro, compared to what I'm used to.

What is "retro"? [Are you even using English words any more? He has no idea.] They are not cold, though they are cool in summer.

[He's also not sure what the temperature of his clothes has to do with anything...]

[It was like talking to Zoë all over again, and the thought quickly sort of depressed him. He knew she'd lived a long time - like, a really long time - but he really didn't think he'd ever get to a point where he'd be okay watching a friend die.]

"Cool" is just an expression. It means something's awesome, or like, neat? [He doesn't even know if that slang applies where you're from.] And "retro" means something's old, but cool. If that makes sense.

[He stares, and then:] It does not make sense at all.

[Awesome and neat mean two entirely different things as far as he's aware. Maybe his English vocabulary isn't as up to scratch as he thought...]

Forget it, it's not important. [And he's not really looking to confuse the guy any more than he already has. Crabmon takes the opportunity to pipe up, though.]

I'm glad you found your partner again, even if he de-digivolved. I didn't know that could happen to humans.

Me neither! Maybe he'll Digivolve again and get big one day.

I am still bigger than you. [Connor nudges Armadillomon with his foot. It's true; his partner barely comes up to his knee.]

How much bigger do you guys get when you "digivolve"?

[Which Percy is saying like an adult trying out a newfangled slang term they didn't understand. The question's obviously directed at Armadillomon more than it is at Crabmon, if only because Percy has no idea if he's ever done that before.] I mean, it's not like I've seen a lot of armadillos before, but he's [Pointing at Crabmon now.] already bigger than any crab I've ever seen.

I don't know! I haven't Digivolved any bigger than this before. But with Connor's help I guess we'll see!

My help? What can I do?

Just keep being my partner!

[Connor, as usual, looks perplexed. That's... not very specific.]
