New Arrivals: Let's Have Some Fun

Characters: Everyone! (Only new arrivals are allowed in the Terminal Room)
When: 4 MAY 2013
Where: Terminal Room or all over town!
What: An open mingle log for everyone to play in!

A calm had swept over Terminal Tokyo, as the Chosen Children had successfully repel the Beemon attack and began to clean up their city. All was well and life would go on, though some scars would take a while to heal. But as the saying goes, there is no rest for the weary.

Another earthquake tore through the Digital World. One on the scale of the one that had brought so many of the current Chosen to the Digtal World. Once again, dozens of Chosen were making their way to the Digital World. Destiny was calling once more and so were their partners...

Every chute in the Terminal Room activated while the small Digimon known as Culumon trembled with excitement. There were so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners had arrived!

OOC: Feel free to mark your characters in different locations! They can be just arriving in the Terminal Room you read about in the arrival post or anywhere on the map! Also feel free to mark the day for each thread. You can also request to play with Culumon, too! Have fun, guys!

[Percy was more embarrassed than anything else, really, when he looked up and saw the other teenager. He was a little freaked out, too, so long as he was being honest with himself. Maybe a god wasn't behind this, because no matter where he'd ended up before, his powers had never just stopped working. It was weird, and he felt really stupid, and having an audience wasn't exactly helping.]

Nothing, we're fine.

What made you think you could breathe underwater? [Crabmon asked, loud enough to be overheard.] It's not like you have gills.

I told you, [Percy hissed in response, quiet and hoping the other teenager wouldn't overhear him.] My dad is Poseidon.

And I told you I don't know who that is!

I'll explain again later, okay?

[He looked back up at Kaldur, and realized even if he did have his powers, getting back out of the river was maybe going to pose a tiny bit of a problem, since he couldn't just go around showing off in front of a total stranger.] Do you think you could give us a hand up?
acceptedburden: (Bullshit)

[personal profile] acceptedburden 2013-05-04 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kaldur isn't sure if he should comment or not. On the one hand, it sounds as though the teenager had expected to be able to swim in the water without having to breathe. This, at first, made Kaldur wonder if it was someone from Atlantis, like himself. The boy did not have any obvious outward Atlantean features as Kaldur did, but that was not a guarantee that he was not. After all, neither Garth nor Tula had webbed hands or gills.

For the moment he will put it aside, although he missed most of what Percy whispered to Crabmon he did pick up on a familiar name.
]

Certainly.

[Kaldur reached out to help pull Percy back to shore. While his own gills were concealed by his jacket at the moment there wasn't much he could do to hide the webbed hands.]
headfullofkelp: (Are you always this dumb?)

[personal profile] headfullofkelp 2013-05-05 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Percy looked surprised when he saw the other teenager's webbed hands, but definitely not as surprised as he could have been. It's actually almost a good sign in some ways, and he takes Kaldur's hand without hesitation.

He did hesitate before reaching over to pull Crabmon back up with him, which made him feel a little bad. The guy did just sort of stop him from drowning like a complete idiot, the least he could do was make sure he didn't get stuck down here, but he was still kind of wary about him, and of the other monsters. It's kind of what happens when you get used to weird creatures popping up and telling you they'd just love to get to know you over breakfast.

It's easier to just look back at the other teenager.]

This isn't your river, is it? I mean, I didn't think there were guy naiads, but I guess I've just never seen one before.
acceptedburden: (Say What?)

[personal profile] acceptedburden 2013-05-05 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Kaldur is confused by the question at first. Why would he own the river? The mention of a naiad makes hims realize what Percy is supposing though. Which...also raises some questions about where Percy is from that such creatures are real.

Then of course there was that mention of Poseidon. He was starting put some pieces together.
]

It is not mine nor am I a naiad. I am Atlantean. My name is Kaldur'ahm. I am as much a stranger to this land as you.
headfullofkelp: (Say that again.)

[personal profile] headfullofkelp 2013-05-05 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Once they're on dry land again, Percy tried shaking some of the water out of his hair without getting Kaldur all wet, but his answer startled him into paying attention again.]

Wait, back up, Atlantean? Like Atlantis? Atlantis, Atlantis?

[Crabmon just looked between the two of them and ended up shrugging with his front claws at Gizamon, because he was more or less accepting that Percy was not going to be listening until he had direct proof that this wasn't some kidnapping scheme by whoever Ares or Arphodite or Kronos were.]

So, do you know Poseidon?
acceptedburden: (Awkward)

[personal profile] acceptedburden 2013-05-05 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Yep. This is turning into a very interesting conversation. Kaldur is not sure how to reply. He does not know Poseidon personally but, of course, the gods are rumored to exist and it is hard to deny that when your King works with Wonder Woman and you yourself are from a city named for that god of the sea.]

Yes. I am from Atlantis although I am afraid I do not have the honor of meeting Poseidon. I do not believe even my king has met him.

[Gizamon doesn't get it either Crabmon. But maybe she can get Kaldur to help. At least HE knows it's not a scheme like that. She sighs and looks up at Kaldur, nudging him.]

So, uh, I'm confused. Do you actually know this guy or what? He doesn't look much like you Kal.

Atlanteans adapted to life on the ocean floor and we have all changed in different ways. There are some who do not have apparent gills or webbed hands at all while others have features like aquatic animals such as fish, sharks, and even squid.

[He looks back to Percy.] But you are not from Atlantis, are you?
headfullofkelp: (Okay serious times.)

[personal profile] headfullofkelp 2013-05-05 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Percy wasn't sure what to make of the fact that Kaldur's king hadn't ever met Poseidon before, but that definitely sounded just about right, though. Or, at least familiar, even though he'd never been to any under sea communities yet.

He was quiet for a long moment, weighing his options. He was alone here, except for Crabmon, apparently (who seriously needed a better nickname like, yesterday), and if this guy really was from Atlantis - and the fact that he'd brought it up first and had webbed hands and everything made all signs point to he's definitely from Atlantis - he could probably help.

Still. This wasn't something you just went around telling anyone.]

No, but. My father's Poseidon.

He's apparently the god of the sea in Percy's world, [Crabmon said to Gizamon, like he genuinely 100% believed Percy wasn't insane and was telling the truth, even though Percy might as well have said his dad was a Whamon for all the sense it made to him. Again, someone was sort of failing in giving certain Digimon partners detailed information about what was going on upstairs.]

[Blink.

Yep, wasn't expecting THAT bit of news. Kaldur is not sure what to say to that. Children of the gods were not impossible of course it was just, well, he'd never met one. He had to remind himself, too, that just because Percy was the son of a god did not mean it was the same sea god in all worlds. That was going to be tricky to explain, but surely being here was proof enough of that. Granted, there was nothing to say that they WEREN'T from the same world either. One step at a time Kaldur.
]

I see. [He glanced towards the river.] And I am guessing you were attempting to communicate with him or with a spirit in the river to get in touch with him about being brought here.

[That would explain why he thought Kaldur might be a naiad. It wasn't too far of a stretch to assume that a child of a sea god would be able to survive the ocean depths easily enough. Kaldur suddenly felt sad for Percy. At least he had his gills so could technically still breathe underwater, but what if he did not. Would that ability, too, be taken from him? He wasn't sure he'd be able to deal with that.]

I am afraid it is not that easy. We are very far from home, another world. Things are...different here. Abilities that you once had are no longer available. Although the exact reason still remains a mystery.

[Meanwhile, apparently the partners are about to start a conversation about the humans...this is probably going to turn sour very quickly because Gizamon likes to brag.] Uh-huh. Kaldur's a superhero, he even has his own team to lead and everything. Plus he can breathe underwater.
headfullofkelp: (Well you're a fail.)

[personal profile] headfullofkelp 2013-05-05 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
He has gills, of course he can still breathe under water, [Percy grumbled without really looking at Gizamon. Crabmon nodded and quickly attempted some bragging of his own. "Attempted" really meaning he wasn't all that practiced or particularly good at it. But at least he's enthusiastic?]

Percy's a hero, too! I don't think he has his own team, but he goes on adventures and fights monsters all by himself! Right, Percy?

... Right. [Under different circumstances, he might have been slightly offended with the implication that he couldn't do awesome things too, but for the moment, he was still focused on Kaldur's explanation, and the fact that he apparently really couldn't get news home. Like, at all.

Oh, and the not having any superpowers thing? Completely lame.]
I guess I'd rather find out now than when when we're in the middle of being attacked by some angry hydra, or whatever you guys have here.

So, is there anything we do know about this place? Besides that welcome note?

I helped him read it! [Crabmon chimed in, apparently quite excited that he had already been some help to his partner.]

We did just deal with an attack from a swarm of overlarge Beemon.

Yeah, and we fought a Devimon and I was able to ev--

[Kaldur cuts her off.] It was rather busy before you came, but things have settled for the moment and we are dealing with the clean up now. It is difficult to adjust to, but we have managed so far.

[Wally perhaps a little less so, but the speedster had perhaps learned his lesson after nearly blowing himself up...again. Suffice to say, Kaldur was NOT leaving Wally unattended next crisis.]

Not much more I am afraid. The Beemon attack I mentioned was perhaps tied to one of the other Chosen going missing in what is being known as a Dark Zone. We are working on investigating it and seeing what it means in connection to all of us being brought here.
headfullofkelp: (Line up.)

[personal profile] headfullofkelp 2013-05-06 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Percy doesn't have the slightest idea what a Devimon is, but finding out some of the monsters are hostile pretty much confirms his worst fears, and he's definitely going to start asking around for a sword or something, because this is just ridiculous. Crabmon had insisted that he was supposed to help protect him, but the guy didn't really look all that intimidating.]

Right. [And instead of continuing on his what probably seemed crazy ranting about monsters and gods and naiads and whatever else, he just keeps it simple.]

How can I help? [At the gentle nudge he gets from his partner, he amends it.] How can we help?
acceptedburden: (Contemplate)

[personal profile] acceptedburden 2013-05-06 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Kaldur understands. He had similar reservations. Besides, when you are used to fighting for yourself it is difficult to break out of that habit and rely on others.]

Well, right now we are focusing on rebuilding the damage from the attack and continuing investigating the causes for why we are here. If I recall Koushirou's message he states that the Digital World will often bring Chosen in a crisis and while the merging of worlds is certainly that we have yet to determine what is causing that to happen.

And now it seems that more Chosen are being called. I wonder how many will be needed to solve this problem.
headfullofkelp: (Are you always this dumb?)

[personal profile] headfullofkelp 2013-05-06 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Rebuilding he wasn't so sure about - he wasn't exactly helpless at it, but it wasn't like he was particularly good at it either, in that he didn't have a ton of experience with it, and something told him Crabmon probably didn't either - but investigating he could do. Heck, he could try rebuilding anyway, if that's what people needed, and he was pretty sure his partner wouldn't care too much about what they were doing so long as they were helping.]

How many are there now?
acceptedburden: (Awake)

[personal profile] acceptedburden 2013-05-11 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Kaldur would have to check, but he thinks over it and can probably estimate]

Perhaps somewhere in the 50s. I have not exactly done a head count as of late.
headfullofkelp: (Come at me bro.)

[personal profile] headfullofkelp 2013-05-14 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Right. [That's almost better than he was expecting, in some ways, and he takes a moment to think that over.] Okay, cool. We can get this fixed in no time.
acceptedburden: (Amused)

[personal profile] acceptedburden 2013-05-16 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
You seem very confident of that Percy.

[He smiles though. Kaldur is certain that things can be set right as well, though perhaps not in the amount of time that Percy seems to believe.]
headfullofkelp: (I ain't even mad.)

[personal profile] headfullofkelp 2013-05-17 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I've done more with less people before. Like, a lot less.

[Like, you know. Two other people. And one of them was a nervous satyr who chews on furniture when he gets nervous.]
acceptedburden: (Pride)

[personal profile] acceptedburden 2013-05-20 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
[He considers that for a moment. Kaldur, despite technically working for the League, is also used to a smaller team.]

True. But a larger group of people to work with can make coordinating team efforts very difficult. It might mean everyone wanting to do their own thing and not work together at all. I suppose there are pros to a larger party, certainly strength in numbers, but there can be cons as well.
