New Arrivals: Let's Have Some Fun

A calm had swept over Terminal Tokyo, as the Chosen Children had successfully repel the Beemon attack and began to clean up their city. All was well and life would go on, though some scars would take a while to heal. But as the saying goes, there is no rest for the weary.

Another earthquake tore through the Digital World. One on the scale of the one that had brought so many of the current Chosen to the Digtal World. Once again, dozens of Chosen were making their way to the Digital World. Destiny was calling once more and so were their partners...

Every chute in the Terminal Room activated while the small Digimon known as Culumon trembled with excitement. There were so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners had arrived!

[Well this is literal monkey bread...made by monkeys, er, Apemon.

Daisuke grinned at the compliment and tapped the goggles.]

Thanks. I got these from a friend too so they're extra special.

[Daisuke stops walking at an intersection and looks around.]

Hey, Veemon, was the Apemon bakery closer to the Miracles District or the Friendship District?

We passed it on our way here. I think it's that way.

Right. So, Guilmon, is your partner here?

[guilmon]

Guimon hasn't seen him yet... I don't think anybody else has either.

[He pouts. Not that Guilmon can't handle a little more waiting, but it's kinda sad seeing all these other Tamers and their partners together.]

Maybe Guilmon just has to wait a little longer! Takato said we'd play again, so he has to show up sometime.

[goalggle_head]

Nah, but we'll keep an eye out for him. Just be patient.

Partners can't be separated forever. You'll see him soon, I'm sure.

[The two give Guilmon a reassuring smile and stop as they reach a building that looks rather unassuming but displays a small sign Apemon Monkey Bread Bakery.]

This is the place.

[guilmon]

[The moment he sees the sign, any traces of worry vanish completely, and Guilmon wanders right up to the front door. He takes a whiff of the air, grins, and looks back at the duo.]

It already smells so good! Have you had any of their bread before?

Daisuke found this place a few weeks ago. We tried it then and had cinnamon rolls as big as my head.

Oooh, yeah. Those were GREAT. Of course, they're most famous for their monkey bread.

[guilmon]

As big as Veemon's head?

[His eyes widen as he tries to imagine this. He probably couldn't fit one of those in his mouth! Not in one bite, anyway.]

Now Guilmon wants to try that, too! And the monkey bread. I've never tried that before. Is it shaped like a monkey?

[goalggle_head]

Yep. [Daisuke laughed.] Still trying to figure out how they made them that big.

[The question gave him pause but then he shook his head.]

Not usually. It's just twisted bread with cinnamon and sticky glaze on it. I'm not sure why it has that name.

[Daisuke opened the door and held it for Veemon and Guilmon before following them in.]

So what do you two want?

[guilmon]

[Guilmon's eyes become glued to all the delightful baked goods, and he presses his snout up close to the display. Where could he even begin?]

Hmm... Maybe Guilmon will try the monkey bread for fun! Or maybe some rolls... Or both. There's so much to choose from!

[goalggle_head]

It's hard to choose, I know. You can always come back again and try more stuff then.

Veemon's right, it's not like the bakery is going to be gone.

[Daisuke took a deep breath as he stepped in and looked around, already having a tough time deciding.]

What do you think Veemon? What should we try this time?

[He glanced down and found that Veemon had made a beeline to stand next to Guilmon and stare into the display. There might have been a bit of drool.]

Guys! You're gonna mess up the glass.

[guilmon]

[...Uh oh? Did Guilmon do something bad? Gasping, he hops away from the glass, and his ears droop.]

Guilmon is sorry! I didn't mean to mess up the glass... it just looks so good!

[goalggle_head]

]Veemon sighed and pulled away as well.] But it smells so good Daisuke!

I know, I know. But they have to keep that glass clean you know.

[A low voice from the back room calls out] Those customers I hear?

[An Apemon standing taller than your average adult at 7 feet, walked in from the back. He wore an apron over himself but that was the only clothing he wore. He noticed the trio standing in front of his counter and grinned.]

Heya boys. What can I get you at Apemon's Bakery today.

I think we're still deciding. [He looks at Guilmon and Veemon questioningly.]

[guilmon]

[Oh, it's the Apemon! Hello, giant Apemon! Grinning from ear to ear, Guilmon gives a great big wave before taking another little glance at the display.

...For all of two seconds.]

Um, Guilmon wants to try the monkey bread! I've never had it before.
