Black Gear Panic attack!
The day stated simply enough. Peaceful and sunny. Until a quake happened, one that originated on Infinity Mountain. And with the quake a serious of explosions were heard, by those closest to the buildings on that Mountain.
However no one was prepared for what happened next. A swarm of blackness flew from the temple and covered the sky of the Digital Island before raining down on it.
Many that called this place home knew what this meant. Someone or something has reawaken the Black Gears, long thought to be destroyed, and the inhabitants of the island were to soon find themselves under it influence again.
File Island was under attack.
However no one was prepared for what happened next. A swarm of blackness flew from the temple and covered the sky of the Digital Island before raining down on it.

A crest. He'd received a crest. And the meaning of this one was...?
... No. No time to focus on that now. He pulled himself up onto Skydive's back as he swung around to pick up Hot Shot]
Everyone! We need to coordinate our assault! Meramon is enraged! Unfocused...!

Starscream's gaze, however, falls on Kit and the Digimon following her. ]
Kit. [ he motions for her to quickly join him. the roar in the distances does not go unnoticed and he frowns. Starscream has no idea what it could be, but there are several possibilities even as Airblitz stomps a hoof defiantly. ]
Starscream...
Right. Go help Optimus and his partners. We'll be all right here.
[ with a nod from the Digimon, he takes to the air, ready to heed instructions on how they should go about their attack. Starscream may linger behind, if only to make sure the last of the Yokomon are out of harm's way. ]

[Emerick leaped into the air to avoid the walls of fire, bouncing from rock to rock with the easy agility of her feline form, getting close enough in time to hear Optimus' pronouncement.]
Ready when you are! Let's make catnip out of fire-breath here.
[Meanwhile, down in the village Kit and Aburn join Starscream in helping to evacuate the Yokomon. However, neither she nor either of her partners fail to notice the roar in the distance. She doesn't know what it could be, but it sounded something like the roar the Sword of Omens made...
She was soon brought back to the present, however, just as Starscream was, by Airblitz. Kit nods.]
I sent Emerick to help too, so she should already be there. Aburn can help us here.
[She watched him fly off for a moment before getting back to the evacuation, joining Starscream and Aburn in trying to herd the frightened Yokomon towards safety.]
This way! I saw a cave under the edge of the cliff that should be safe!
[Well, safer than in the path of a crazy, fire-shooting guy, anyway.]

From the vantage point of the air they may notice black on the back of Meramon's neck, but your chances of getting close are slim with him swinging flaming trees around now.
The heat is only increasing and anyone watching the mountain might see a new light blossom amid the flames. Of course, it could be hard to distinguish if you're not paying attention. However for the moment your only concern is Meramon.]

[Skydive grit his teeth, and pressed forward. He couldn't... he wouldn't fail in this battle like he had the last one. Where Optimus had collapsed and been unable to continue. Or the one when Whirl...
... They had to win. He had to rise to the occasion. No more doubt, or cocky bravado. Focus only on the objective!
In mid-flight, the DORUgamon began to change... his body grew humanoid and covered in armor, and his wings replaced by a flowing blue mantle. In his hands, a pair of swords. And with remarkable speed, he attempted to fly behind Meramon and slash at the gear embedded in him]
CROSS BLADE!

Airblitz, on the other hand, prefers this. ]
Equus Beam!
[ an attack to combine with that Cross Blade. won't do more than give it a little more power, but the Pegasusmon can't just stand by idly.
meanwhile, Starscream is with Kit, ushering those cute little Digimon into the cave. ]

[Emerick saw what was happening, and while there was no way to combine any of her attacks with the other two Digimon's she could at least make sure he held still long enough for the shot to hit home.]
Hey, Meramon! Over here, you walking barbeque!
[When the firy digimon looked her way...]
Cat's Eye Hypnotism!
[Her eyes flashed bright as she held Meramon's gaze, willing him to stand still... stand still... don't move... stand still...
Kit and Starscream gather the Yokomon into the cave with Aburn watching their backs, Kit carrying the last Yokomon in in her arms.]
I think that's all of them...

Gatomon's eyes hold him for a moment and it is just enough time for the Cross Blade to drive home his blade. The black gear spins faster before suddenly bursting out of Meramon all together and the fiery digimon jerks forward and collapses.
But if you think that's the end...well...the giant fire cat pouncing on Gatomon has another idea. Lynxmon has taken the field.]
