Hello Chosen Within the City

What: Invasion of the Digivolved Yokomon and Koromon
When: June 28-June 30
Where: All over Terminal Tokyo

Just as Ryou predicted it was only several hours later that the first wave of Yokomon and Koromon have made their appearance. Except...they're not Yokomon and Koromon anymore. It appears that they have all Digivolved into various types of Champion Digimon on the way over from Server. None of the various types of Champion seem to even blink if they're attacked. Their first and only objective seems to be to lay ruin to the city and everything in it. At first any attacks will be ignored, but if someone proceeds to continue and attack them, they will attack.

They're difficult to beat, regardless of level. These Digimon may need two people working together even at Champion level. Each Digimon are much more difficult to defeat solo than they would be normally. One thing should easily be certain before the first night is out-- if you want the city to survive then you're going to need to work together.]

[[OOC: So here's how this will work guys-- unless you need a Digimon for various reasons: playing out the first Digivolution, Dark Digivolutions, or a general battle they will be played by you. You may request a modded NPC as per usual, but depending on the number/duties you may be turned down (we'll do our best, though). Keep in mind your character will not have an easy win on their own and that humans will be virtually ineffective.

Most of the NPC Chosen will, unfortunately, have other things they're working on, but you may be able to see a couple helping to beat back the Digimon trying to destroy Terminal Tokyo again.

There's all sorts of Champion levels to fight so pick and choose: Cyclonemon, Bullmon, Golemon, Harpymon, as well as many others will appear in the city, so don't be afraid to bring in a different kind of Champion Digimon from the DMA.

Remember to mark your subject titles with date, time, and even type of Digimon you will be fighting!]]

[Though she's scared for him, Juri has quite a lot of pride in her partner. So she shakes that off and stands tall, gripping her now-working D-Arc.]

Leomon's got a lot of experience.

[Leormon's familiar with wild Digimon trying to kill him and load his data, but not as much with such a nasty Tailmon. He supposes some Digimon are just made that way. Regardless, the Greymon shakes him off after a moment or two now trying to stomp on the two feline Digimon, swinging its tail back and forth again to try and hit Tailmon.]

[The D-Arc catches her attention, as she splits her attention between the battle and the new girl. Tailmon, on the other hand, has bolted, to keep Leormon between the Greymon and itself.]

You've got the same model as that little bratty "back in our day" kid... We're going to need to talk upgrades when we're done with this. But if you're strong, that's all we need.

Oi, Catnip. If we hold the monster in place, can you take it out at the neck?

[This isn't really clearing anything up for her... Different looking digivices?] I... um, okay...

[Meanwhile Leormon scoffs; the Tailmon's retreat, leaving a Rookie to fight a battle against a Champion. He leaps back to avoid the stomping.] I might need a boost!

[The word is punctuated with another leap. It looks like Greymon's focused its attention on him.]

You're a cat, aren't you? You can climb it. Gazimon, freeze it!

Fucking bossy humans. Cat's Eye Hypnotism!

[Tailmon jumps up to make eye contact with the Greymon, at which point it shoots freaking beams from its eyes to connect with the dinosaur's to command it to stay in place.]

[Leormon frowns; this girl really is bossy. But Juri's here and he has to protect her. As the Greymon freezes, Leormon leaps, scaling its body until he reaches the neck at which point he tries a Critical Bite.

But it is a big neck. Even if it's an attack designed for weak points, there are limits.

As a result, Greymon snaps out of the hypnotism and roars and ramapges as Leormon digs in tighter, trying to hang on for dear life. The Greymon starts to stomp closer to the girls, threateningly close.]

Leomon!

Fuck.

[Alex was really, really regretting not having Wally's biology notes on the Digimon yet. She immediately grabbed Juri by the arm, turned around, and started running. She was not in the best of shape, but mortal peril could do wonders for one's abilities, and she was still remembering the last big fight she had. She shouts back as she runs.]

Change of plans. Catnip, just widen the wound as much as you can, then get the fuck out! Gazimon, help it out! It'll bleed out through the neck and lose the ability to function soon, as long as we can keep out of its reach! Assuming these things follow any form of rationality... Kid, if you have experience with this stuff, don't just stand there and shout names, do something!

[Juri gasps, snapping herself out of her fear. That's right. That's right, she needs to do something! She can't stand around again and let him die, she has to help him. But what--

Her eyes widen and she grabs her D-Arc.] That's it!

[Out of her bag, she takes a card. And then, she swipes it through her D-Arc, in her old style.]

Card Slash! Devidramon's Crimson Nail, activate!

[From Leormon's claws grow big, long, red nails, large enough so that they're already sinking into Greymon as soon as they're formed. It causes the dinosaur to panic more, but Leormon starts to dig them in, letting his teeth loose.]

Crimson Nail!

[From where Leormon balances on Greymon, more suspended by the momentum of the battle than anything, he begins to slash furiously, one swipe after another, at Greymon's neck. Greymon roars in pain, half-blinded with pain.]

Go get 'im, Leomon! [And then to Alexandria:] Have your partner attack, now!

We definitely need to talk upgrades. Gazimon, finish the job!

Why aren't you that useful? Cat Kick!

[And then, leaping into the air, it... Well.



Like that, except aimed at the gaping neck wound.]

[The attack works, and as Leormon falls back to the ground, the claws fading, the Greymon bursts into data with a scream.

Juri lets sigh of relief and starts towards her partner.

But above them, something's happening.]

Huh...?

[From the remnants of the Greymon, a brown light shines. It shines brighter than the data, and it heads right for Alexandria.

A small rectangle with an odd emblem on it floats in front of her, contained in a pendant-like tag.

It is her crest. The Crest of Desire.]

[Well, that is certainly unusual. Alexandria reaches out to take it gingerly, holding it by the string rather than the tag to examine it. Safety procedures weren't to be abandoned, and there was a chance this was some sort of last-ditch effort of the Greymon's to attack them.]

... Hey, kid. Do you know what this is?

[Juri picks up Leormon to keep examining him, quite a new experience.

She walks over to look at the crest. How...odd.]

No. No, I, uh... ...Wait.

[She recalls something from the TV show, from some of her card packs. She never really watched it, but...]

Um, I think it's a crest... We didn't have those, but it's a...symbol, I think? Leomon, do you...?

[He shakes his head. He looks at Tailmon.] I presume you're native to this world. Do you know about these crests?

[Tailmon, now that the danger has passed, reverts to Gazimon so she can fold her arms with a smug grin.]

Of course I know. Don't think I'm as stupid as you Vaccine Digimon. That's a Crest, a symbol of a human's most powerful trait, and gives us power from that, so we can evolve again. That one in particular's the Crest of Desire, and that means my human's greedier than I thought. Maybe we'll work together better after all.

Okay, your idiotic babble aside, we just finished getting data on your Adult form, now we have to get another one? How does this thing work, anyway?

How the hell am I supposed to know? The Crests are human shit, brainiac, it's all on you now.

Sounds to me like you just want to pass the buck off. What happened to that 'not relying on humans' thing?

[Alex turns her attention back to Juri.]

What was that you said about not having one? Aren't you a veteran?

[Juri quietly watches the argument. It just makes her more thankful to have Leomon back, for whatever reason she does, because their bond, well...

When Alexandria addresses her, Juri holds him tighter.] Me? Well, they didn't really...



[Leormon takes it.] I think we have a difference in worlds. This Digital World is not the one I came from. I've only heard of crests through Juri and her friends discussing their cards.

Yeah... The others never needed one of them to digivolve their partners. So I guess it just works differently.

Difference in worlds, huh... I've already had some theories about that, but this one is a little strange.

Cards, huh? Yeah, the whiny brat used some cards with his gadget, too. Maybe the rules aren't different, you just have an upgraded system over ours... That would explain a lot. Lemme see your Digivice for a minute.

[She's sort of protective of it; after it being blank, for so long... But she reaches out and hands it to Alexandria.]

What...whiny brat are you talking about? There's another Tamer here?

[One of her friends? She can only hope.]

[She takes it, then pockets her newfound Crest to pull out her own Digivice, and begins examining them both, searching for some sort of way for them to interface.]

Brown-haired boy who thinks a handkerchief scarf is fashionable. The first time the city got attacked, he went and made this whole lecture about how easy we had it, and how back in his day, he didn't have a fancy city to live in, he had to rough it, blah blah it was a huge load of whiny shit.

[Honestly, what tips her off is the handkerchief scarf. The rest she sort of tunes out.] Ryou! Thank goodness, that's...someone. [Honestly she was hoping for Ruki, or, well...Takato.

As for interfacing the two different digivice models, Alexandria will find they aren't exactly compatible. There's no visible way to get them to reach to each other, and there's no button to press.]

[She's going to just mutter under her breath really quickly:]

Of fucking course they don't work, why would we ever get nice things? Can't even open it up to look at its insides, don't know enough yet, need to study my own more first... Need a toolset and a crash course in hardware first. And lessons in reading this shit excuse for a language. And programming instructions. At least I won't be bored, but I could do with a break.

[Once she's satisfied there's no way to link the two, she actually addresses Juri again.]

"Someone"? Not a friend, then?

[Leormon glances at Juri and likewise. Eventually, she puts him down, when she's convinced he won't just vanish out of her arms. Her gaze now lingers on her D-Arc. She'd quite like it back...]

Oh, no, he's a friend! [Anyone who helps save you from a giant blob sucking out your happiness can be counted as a friend.] I just don't know him as well as I do the other Tamers.

[Sorry, she's still examining it, now she's pushing buttons.]

Can I see some cards, too?

Tamers... Sounds better than "Chosen Children", at least. You guys had to tame yours instead of just getting saddled with one?

Hell of an ego, saying you're "saddled" with someone as great as me! I'm the legendary Super Ultimate, remember! And no self-respecting Digimon would let a human 'tame' us, we're just stuck with you!

[Reluctantly, Juri hands over some of her cards, including the Devidramon one she slashed before. Pressing buttons results in displays! The Digimon analyzer! ...But not much else.]

No, nothing like that. They really don't sound too different, from what Culumon told me. We just, um...sometimes had to form a bond with our Digimon beforehand.

[She smiles shyly at Leormon. She's not used to looking down at him -- or looking at him at all, as of late -- but she doesn't mind it.]

From what I understand, you were bonded with your partner when she arrived here, right? [So he asks Gazimon.] I met Juri before we became partners, and we connected after. It's only after we had that between us that she became my Tamer.

[Gazimon bristled. Of course, she had been waiting for Alexandria for a very long time, but for most of that, she had been actively railing against the idea- She was powerful on her own, she didn't need a human, she could be whatever she wanted and become the strongest Digimon, she didn't need anyone else. And after so long, she wasn't exactly prepared to throw that away.]

"Bonded"? Don't make me laugh, the only bond we have is just convenient circumstance. As soon as she's useless, I'll ditch her in an instant.

[Meanwhile, Alex is content to ignore Gazimon's talk and try to swipe that Devidramon card through the D-Arc. She doesn't expect anything to come of it, but it's important to conduct tests.]

You shouldn't underestimate your partner. No matter how different or weak the humans may seem, they can surprise you, and often do. The gentlest of creatures can have the strongest of hearts and the most powerful of destinies.

[Leomon stop you're going to make her blush. More than that, YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE HER CRY. He's always been too kind and too sweet for her, and now she actually has him again and it's a little overwhelming.

As for the D-Arc? Yeah, her swiping any cards won't do anything, they have to be from Juri. Nice try, though.]

While I agree on the 'don't underestimate me' part, destiny can damn well blow me. I've been trying to read the stars since I got here, and it's basically like seeing the heavens align to spell out "error 404 fate not found".

I think he was going all mushy about his partner, not you.
