terminalhelpers: WE DEMAND FOADS (Default)
Terminal Tokyo Helper Mods ([personal profile] terminalhelpers) wrote in [community profile] thefolder2013-08-05 08:48 pm

Just in Time for the Movies.

Characters: Everyone! (Only new arrivals are allowed in the Terminal Room)
When: Starting August 4th, 2013
Where: Terminal Room or all over town!
What: An open mingle log for everyone to play in!

Last month, there was no earthquake signalling new arrivals.

That's not a pattern; the ground quakes, the chutes in the Terminal Room activate, and Culumon trembles with excitement. There are so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners have arrived!

With Chosen disappearing every now and then, fresh faces will be very helpful.

OOC: Feel free to mark your characters in different locations! They can be just arriving in the Terminal Room you read about in the arrival post or anywhere on the map! Also feel free to mark the day for each thread. You can also request to play with Culumon, too! Have fun, guys!

But the answer isn't either-or, and you didn't give me an all of the above..? H-how am I supposed to answer that?

C'mon, you could've just said both!
fuhrinkaed: (Oh god what did I walk in on?)

...you're right.

S-sorry, I don't think so well on my feet sometimes.

[SIGH]

What kind of-- uh "world"-- did you come from if your life is like a superhero cartoon?

[Getting used to this alternate world thing was going to take some work]
fuhrinkaed: (Is that so..?)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-09 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno... there was magic and a reverse world with lots of sorcery and dragons and monsters and stuff and I have a big sister who's kinda trying to either blow up or take over the world we're really not sure which... and I kinda have to help stop her. So...

That kind?

[What the hell]

My day just keeps getting weirder.
fuhrinkaed: (You okay?)

You get used to it, trust me.

So what's your world like?

[He leans back on one hand and gives a small shrug]

Compared to this place and the place you described? Completely and utterly normal.
fuhrinkaed: (That IS definitely a problem)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-09 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
...I think our definitions of normal might be a little different. [For Ed, magic bullshit is the norm.]

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Another sigh]

Without supernatural abilities.

[Minus Akako, but he didn't have to bring her up now]

Can't say it's without magic, but it isn't the supernatural kind.
fuhrinkaed: (I heard magic!)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-09 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
...You mean like stage magic? [He instantly perks up, wounds or no.]

I've never managed to be very good at that stuff--though I've always wanted to learn! I never got how they got the airplane on the stage without anyone noticing--I always have to cheat and teleport it on there.

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
[-- pinged by stage magic, and he almost immediately perks up]

Eh? You've performed before? And-- oh c'mon, you can't use spell casting to cheat at stage magic like that! That defeats the point!
fuhrinkaed: (I wonder about that...)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-09 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
W-well it was just a couple of small performances in the reverse world... And I mean it was basically done for parody, they all do magic anyways so they thought the stage stuff was really impressive if it was done legit... only I couldn't do it legit so it was like I was faking being a proper faker?

...Ahaha, th-that's kinda dishonest, isn't it...

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
[:(! His precious stage magic, ruined by spell casting. . .]

If you're gonna try your hand at stage magic, at least make sure you know how to do it right.

[With a flick of his wrist, he produces a deck of cards from out of thin air]

Those people you knew back home were right to be impressed by it.
fuhrinkaed: (Oh god what did I walk in on?)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-09 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
...woah.

[Congratulations Kaito, you now have an audience.]

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Just as planned. He begins to shuffle the deck easily]

The point of stage magic-- and sleight-of-hand, too-- is to deceive and trick, but only to entertain. It's a test of one's dexterity, their ability to prove that the hand is quicker than the eye.

[He flicks a card off of the top of the deck and twirls it in between his finge-- wait where did the card go??]
fuhrinkaed: (What? Seriously what?)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-09 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Most likely it's been stored in an extradimensional space so that it can be later pulled out of--wait. That doesn't work here. Holy poop that is some dexterity.]
jackoclubs: (pic#6600665)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
[And with another snap of his fingers, the card reappears and he shuffles it back into the deck]

It takes practice to perfect the skill. But you shouldn't disrespect the art form by introducing spell casting or actual teleportation into the equation.
fuhrinkaed: (W-well...)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-09 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
...but I can't do that. My fingers get all stupid and then the card hits someone in the eye.

[Usually me.]
jackoclubs: (pic#6600784)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Then learn until you can do it. You just need a good teacher.
fuhrinkaed: (Is that so..?)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-09 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
...Well, I've been taught to do weirder. But I mean... yeah! I guess I should try getting more dextrous too, since actual magic doesn't work here.
jackoclubs: (pic#6607699)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Sleight-of-hand and stage magic is "actual magic" too, and it works just fine.

So you must be talking about spell casting.

[A magician's stubborn refusal to admit that his magic isn't "actual" magic]
fuhrinkaed: (Derrrrp)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-09 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Y-yeah, I meant magic as defined by the official Endymion Magical Council from back home.

They don't... really... consider... the sleight-of-hand and stage magic as part of supernatural phenomena. S-sorry.
jackoclubs: (pic#6609851)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You have an entire council for that kind of thing?

[He is silently grateful Akako is the only spell casting magic-user he knows back home. Imagine having to deal with a hundred witches or wizards at once]

And that much is okay. Sleight-of-hand isn't a supernatural phenomena. That's what makes it so impressive.
fuhrinkaed: (Huh?)

Re: on the city streets

[personal profile] fuhrinkaed 2013-08-10 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Not me... Endymion. They're a magical city in the Reverse World--they basically are kind of a regulation service that determines what you can and can't research.

Basically they keep someone from creating zombies to eat everyone.

And it really is impressive! I want to learn it.
