terminalhelpers: WE DEMAND FOADS (Default)
Terminal Tokyo Helper Mods ([personal profile] terminalhelpers) wrote in [community profile] thefolder2013-08-05 08:48 pm

Just in Time for the Movies.

Characters: Everyone! (Only new arrivals are allowed in the Terminal Room)
When: Starting August 4th, 2013
Where: Terminal Room or all over town!
What: An open mingle log for everyone to play in!

Last month, there was no earthquake signalling new arrivals.

That's not a pattern; the ground quakes, the chutes in the Terminal Room activate, and Culumon trembles with excitement. There are so many lonely Digimon that had appeared recently and--finally-- their partners have arrived!

With Chosen disappearing every now and then, fresh faces will be very helpful.

OOC: Feel free to mark your characters in different locations! They can be just arriving in the Terminal Room you read about in the arrival post or anywhere on the map! Also feel free to mark the day for each thread. You can also request to play with Culumon, too! Have fun, guys!

[Elecmon opens his mouth to respond, but Kaito interjects before anything can be said]

Anyway, I take it you've been here for a while?

Long enough, yeah. Why?

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it obvious? The longer you've been here, the more you know. Maybe you can answer some questions for me.
greatwork: (so boooored)

I would say I know the most out of anyone who isn't one of those "experienced Chosen" brats, but they've all fucked off and gone missing, so fuck them.

Have you read the newbie guide yet? It's a complete crock of badly-organized shit, but it's a starting point.

[Jerks his thumb towards the D-Terminal that Elecmon is still holding]

Read it right before Bunny took my device and ran off with it. It was a starting point, but it left a lot of questions.

What the heck does "experienced Chosen" mean?

Some of them have been around the Digital World block a few times, it sounds like. The main one who talks is a brat with a red neckerchief and whines about how in his day they didn't have houses here. Basically, you can recognize them by how useless but holier-than-thou they are. Also, their Digivices are different.
jackoclubs: (pic#6600788)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Digi-- [oh, right, that was the strange thing he had received with his D-Terminal. With a grump, he fishes it out of his pocket]

These things? [He holds the Digivice out to her, the device resting in his palm]

Why're they different?
greatwork: (NO I CAN DO BETTER LEMME THINK)

[personal profile] greatwork 2013-08-09 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Who the fuck knows? Their shit is way more useful, but they won't actually do shit.
jackoclubs: (pic#6609857)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-09 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That seems counterproductive. If they know what they're doing more than we do, then why aren't they helping?
greatwork: (pic#6510637)

[personal profile] greatwork 2013-08-09 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Because they're brats. I haven't seen hide nor hair of them in ages.
jackoclubs: (pic#6600785)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-10 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's comforting.

Hey, don't complain too much, it ain't like you guys are here alone.

I'm not sure you count.

So cold!

[personal profile] greatwork 2013-08-10 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Sigh.]

Oh, right. You heard the part about 'evolution' even though I want to find whoever named it that and hit them with a very large stick in the guide, right?
jackoclubs: (pic#6609851)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-10 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
'Course I did.

[He pockets his Digivice again and frowns down at Elecmon]

Something about working together and borrowing our energy to get bigger. The guide only talked about the theory, though. I dunno how it really works in practice.

It's more like a standard theurgic contract to me, honestly, except for the part where I'm not sure we still have our souls.

That aside, it uses our emotions as fuel to undergo rapid aging to a point in their life cycle where they are far more powerful, and apparently there is a direct relationship between age and power with no problems due to age. Mortal peril seems to trigger the evolutions easiest, but doing so recklessly or with negative emotions who defines that, anyway can lead to a berserk transformation, where the partner Digimon loses its mind and tries to kill everything around it, up to and including its partner.
jackoclubs: (pic#6600810)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-10 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
A standard-- [His Akako pings are definitely activated] Oi oi, I don't remember taking part in any creepy magic ritual, my soul should still be intact.

[he lifts a hand and rubs at his face]

And you're saying we have to almost die in order to get these guys to evolve? Doesn't that seem counterproductive?
greatwork: (dafuq)

[personal profile] greatwork 2013-08-10 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
No, no, mortal peril, not actually damage. Like, a building falling on you, they respond to save you from the danger and stop the building from doing any harm.

As for your soul, sorry, but I can confirm anything I've tried to do here with a spiritual component has failed, so either we're soulless or someone rewrote the fucking laws of physics. Or both.
jackoclubs: (pic#6609897)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-10 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
[W. . . what. . .]

Define "things with spiritual components." You're talking-- er. Spell casting and magic, right?
greatwork: (NO I CAN DO BETTER LEMME THINK)

[personal profile] greatwork 2013-08-10 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
Alchemy, actually, do I look stupid enough to use magic?
jackoclubs: (pic#6609271)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-10 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Without hesitation]

Yes.

And where I come from, alchemy's a fake science, so "attempting things with spiritual components" would fail there, too. Doesn't mean anything about the presence of lack thereof of souls-- if such a thing even exists.

It just means alchemy doesn't work.
greatwork: (pic#6510635)

[personal profile] greatwork 2013-08-10 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
Congratulations! Where you come from is absolutely retarded and your opinion doesn't actually matter. Call my study a fake science again and we'll start having real problems.
jackoclubs: (pic#6600792)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-10 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
[. . . BRISTLING A BIT]

Idiot, I'm saying that to point out a flaw in your logic, not insult you. I can believe that it's a perfectly valid discipline of study wherever you come from the same way I can believe this stupid red bunny actually exists.

Hey. . .

But just like this rabbit doesn't exist in my Tokyo, alchemy isn't compatible with what we know about science and the physical world back where I come from. Just because it doesn't work here doesn't mean everyone's missing a soul. It just means it's just not compatible with how this world is structured.
greatwork: (pic#6510635)

[personal profile] greatwork 2013-08-10 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
Hence why I left "rewrote the laws of physics" as an option. Also, getting seriously sick of people babbling on about alchemy not existing.
jackoclubs: (pic#6600670)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-10 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
That option doesn't work either if that's how the physics of this-- uh, Digital World-- have always worked.

[He sighs and relaxes a bit]

How many people have you heard that from by now?
greatwork: (pic#6051017)

[personal profile] greatwork 2013-08-10 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
Too fucking many.
jackoclubs: (pic#6609851)

[personal profile] jackoclubs 2013-08-12 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Must not be many "worlds" out there with functional alchemy, then.

[This multiple world thing was going to take some getting used to]
