What: It wasn't much of a story, more like a means to an end.
When: The night of Aug 15th
Where: Tokyo Tower
The stars twinkling in the night sky almost seemed to be laughing at Jinx as she raced through the night in a torn black dress and coat.
Her hair fluttered behind her dramatically as she weaved her way through black and white buildings with Noir hot on her heels. He flew surprisingly fast for someone so unaerodynamic.
"Tell me what you stole!" He barked as they clumsily dodged around a trash can and heard the shouting of pursuing mobsters on their heels.
"I swear I haven't stolen anything since this stupid event started except for a couple of bits and this stupid poker chip!" She drew it out of her bra and shook it at Noir who nabbed it studying it carefully.
"Why in the digital world would there be such a fuss about this chip?"
"Beats me!" Jinx snatched it back, "But it's the only other thing I've stolen this week."
"This week." He rolled his eyes as Tokyo Tower came into view.
"So you're telling me..." Noir panted as they raced for the base of the tower. "That these Digimon are trying to kill you, and have killed some mob boss all because of a poker chip?!"
She tucked the chip back in her bra and shrugged. "What do you want me to say? That I'm a murderer? That I stole some expensive diamond? Well I didn't you suspicious pig!"
"Yeah, sure you didn't!" Noir spat as she slowed her run to a trot. They were almost there, almost in the clear.
"Why are we even here?" He thought to ask pushing his fedora back up out of his line of sight."
"Because while YOU were out playing detective and leaving me alone to get chased around the city, I was contacted by the daughter of the Don I apparently killed. She wants to meet and clear this all up."
Noir's eyes boggled and he almost fell out of the sky. "And you don't think perhaps this is a trap!?"
Jinx smirked, "I know it is. But I want to know who's behind all this and that means using whatever I've got. Which right now consists of this lead, a ripped dress, a poker chip, and you...for whatever you're worth."
"Well thank you Ms. Exposition." He growled.

Besides, the Jinx girl is worth a lot. They can probably afford to eat fancy for a night once they turn this one in.
Shark and Gotsumon had followed similar clues to end up in the tower. They couldn't care less about the mystery that's going on - they just need to get paid and bits don't grow on trees. He's leaning against a wall, arms crossed, with a fedora lowered over his eyes while she's sitting pretty on a desk. They knew their prey would be there soon, and all they had to do was wait. Lo and behold, there she was. Shark smirks and lifts the brim of his hat.
"Nothing good comes from needless curiosity, wouldn't you say, Gotsumon?"
"Oh, I'd say something good came from this," his partner replies, pounding her fist into her palm. "Come with us, Dolly."
no subject
"Sorry boys, you'll need a better pickup line then that." She shot back and Noir fluttered in front of her, his fedora tipping down low on his brow.
no subject
"Then how about this one?"
At those words, Gotsumon is off the desk and launching a fist at Noir with surprising speed for a rock monster.
no subject
Using the blast as a distraction Jinx had thrown her coat at Gotsumon's face and was racing to throw a long legged kick at his human partner's head.
She may be dressed like a victim, but that didn't mean she had to keep running.
no subject
Shark doesn't fare any better, taking a direct hit to the head and the force sends him back towards the wall. He curses as he rubs the spot he was struck. That hurt and it was a stupid amateur mistake that he should not be making.
no subject
"Noir! Get up you jerk!" She shouted over her shoulder before lashing out again, this time with a low kick. She would have to be careful to avoid hitting the wall with her foot though.
Noir bounced off the ground and stumbled to his feet. "Oh sure. I'm the jerk here." He muttered and looked about for his fedora. It rested a few feet away and he shot towards it plopping it back on his head.

Kovu strolls in, exuding an air of confidence that only a lion certain of catching his prey could show. Lopmon follows him, smirking.
"I thought we'd be the first ones here, too." The former lion tips his fedora up, flashing a grin. "Too bad, we could've avoided a fight altogether if we got her by surprise."
"It's more fun this way, though," Lopmon answers, a predatory gleam in his eye.
"You got that right." Kovu lowers his stance, ready to leap straight for the pink-haired girl. But he's not gonna do that until she's finished pummeling the guy she's got against the wall. No point in having to fight your opposition and your quarry if you don't have to.

Gotsumon manages to throw off the coat that had hindered her and spies Noir going for his hat, picking up the nearest object - a chair - and hurling it at him.
no subject
But she was fast, and she was flexible. So when her leg was incapacitated she bent her other leg and shoved off hard twisting and flipping her body around the arm holding her leg with the flexibility of a snake. Hopefully the unorthodox twist would get her ankle free so she could put some distance between them.
The chair crashed right on target slamming Noir back to the ground and prompting him to shout out in shock, "Where the hell did you get a chair!?"
It was really beside the point though considering how effective it was.

Kovu and Lopmon circling around them is something Shark's never encountered before and it's unnerving as hell. He tells himself to ignore them - catch the prey first, then worry about the vultures later. But that's easier said than done, and it breaks his concentration for a moment as he eyes his rival for the bounty.
no subject
Jinx manages to leap out of the way again and runs for the scuffling Digimon. As Noir fires on Gotsumon's face she jumps at him planting a boot on the back of their head using them as a springboard to keep going into the air and put some distance between her and Shark.

Things have taken a definite turn for the worse. It was like everything that could go wrong, did.
"Leave, the Tsukaimon, it's her we want!"
Gotsumon releases Noir and spends a few seconds brushing the last remnants of energy from her face before joining her partner.

One truth prevails
"Why. Are we. Here?" Wheezed Noir from the floor. He too looked like he'd been kicked around too much for his own liking and his custom fedora lay next to him while he tried to catch his second wind.
"Anywhere is better then with those guys." Jinx peered out the window in the elevator door as if she could see the ground below where the bounty hunters had been left. But the city was being swallowed up by darkness as they rose higher and higher and the only lights that could be seen were from pallet town.
Dragging himself to his paws he glared at her. "Tell me the truth Jinx!" He fluttered his wings till he had risen to eye level with her.
"You're proud to steal, you don't care about me or...anyone really who you're not trying to get in bed with. So I have to ask..."
The doors slid open to the viewing platform just in time for Noir's question to echo throughout the platform.
"Did you kill Don Chuumon?"
no subject
Waiting for the pair at the viewing platform is a lone Renamon, examining her sharpened claws.
no subject
"A Renamon?" Jinx mumbled, sharp eyes already scanning the room for trouble.
"Not just any Renamon!" Noir was agape, "You're the bartender at Digital Dive! What are you doing here?" He demanded with a warning growl.
no subject
From around the viewing deck, a Musyamon in a suit stats to approach, holding his sword tight. Renamon herself takes a few steps, blocking off the other side. The only way for them to escape is wait for the elevator, already descending, too late...or to jump, surely not to survive.
"My father was a very good businessman. Pity you had to steal from him."
no subject
"What the hell is so important about this poker chip?" She drew it from her sleeve hand shaking betraying her anxiety about the situation.
Noir's eyes narrowed and he fluttered backwards till his rump touched the elevator doors. He growled for good measure but did not attempt to engage either of them.
no subject
"Everything. I'm going to need it now, if you want to keep your lives."
no subject
Noir's eyes looked to Jinx, wide and worried. "Jinx..."
Her fingers curled around the chip and her voice was clear and decisive.
"No. You tell me what all this is about right now or I snap it in half."
Noir look horrified at her choice and his paws curled into fists.

"Are you out of your mind woman!? Just give them the chip!!!"
Her sharp slitted eyes narrow and she never takes her eyes off Renamon, "Get ahold of yourself. They'll just kill us once they get what they want. I want to at least know what we've been getting our asses handed to us over."
"We're getting our asses handed to us because YOU can't keep your hands to yourself you greed bitch!"
Her eye twitches and she grumbles "Really Noir, can we do this later?"
"NO! No we cannot! This is insane! We've almost died like...four times in the last two days all because you refuse to give up that damned chip!"
She smirks sardonically and addresses Renamon "Come on then. Tell the greedy sticky fingered girl what's so important about this lousy chip."
no subject
She raises her sharp chin and looks Jinx right in the eye, voice and posture easy. "My father talked too much." And her eyes narrow. "That's not a mistake I'm going to make."
At that moment, Musyamon charges Noir, swinging his sword at the flying Digimon, while Renamon runs and launches at Jinx, claws first.
no subject
Bundling him under her arms she shot towards Musyamon, the stronger but likely slower of the two. Hopefully if he couldn't slow his swing he'd hit the elevator door and buy them a few seconds.
Her back screamed in pain with the sudden jerky motions and she bit her lip to avoid crying out, the remains of being hit in the back by a Garurumon's blue blaster were still evident on her bare back and the numbness and shock had finally worn off.
"What is wrong with you hero?" She growled at Noir who was shaking like a leaf. "Aren't you supposed to be the tough as nails private eye?"
"I'm not!" He moaned feeling a sort of sickness twist around in his stomach. "I'm no hero! I'm not even a very good side kick!"
no subject
With a growl, she...
...vanishes from sight.
And appears behind Jinx, slashing with her claws.
